It's anti-competitive at best, a failure of journalism by most standards. These sites exist to report on games and gaming systems in an unbiased manner.

Nope. Both companies pay for marketing and if you insult their journalistic integrity have proof of bias to back up your claim. Ive seen many videos on IGN for Xbox One where I had to sit through a PS4 commercial before it aired. Is that any different than what you're griping about? Nope. This is a silly topic. Its marketing. After two weeks is up Sony or Nintendo or anyone can pay for the same thing.

@shawn30: I use ad block. If it was marketing I would be able to block it. I cannot. It is literally a sponsorship from Xbox One (not Microsoft itself) for the redesign of their web site. I understand what you're trying to imply, but it doesn't apply to this case.

not just the ads but the design of the site was changed to kind of replicate the crappy Windows 8 Metro UI and of-course both sponsored by MS.

Alos, all major sites lack integrity.

1080p was'nt a big deal last gen, then it started mattering only to go 180 once it became apparent that there would not be parity between consoles.

Just check out GS reviews, critique is wildly inconsistent.

The sponsoring explains it, no wonder the UI looks like shit. Hover your mouse over an icon and this giant panel shows up and hogs all the screen space, so annoying.

It doesn't matter, either way the site is funded by money from MS/Sony

Actually he does have a point. Because PS4 ad that you view through google ads wouldn't be chosen by the website in question, it would be chose by google based on what you watch. So you could get either a Xbone or PS4 ad and the site has little say in it.
