microsoft reaching new lows

Oh no, a site has ads about a product. It obviously means they're being paid off.

"This Fox News header was brought to you by The Democrats"

That honestly doesn't seem biased to you?

If only MS paid to fix GS to be honest. I'm still not liking this forum layout.

#6 Posted by kuu2 (7002 posts) -

So does this mean that FlopZone should have gotten lower here since there were FlopZone banners all over the site the week of launch????

Please...........

lol, I just saw that too. I'm not even going to comment on that one.

Yeah and? They're pretty much like the other sites.

Polygon got a lot of accusations too lately like this. They gave a 4 to crimson dragon.

I'm never going to IGN again. Oh wait, I dont go there now. :P

It's anti-competitive at best, a failure of journalism by most standards. These sites exist to report on games and gaming systems in an unbiased manner.

It defies the objectives of journalism when a competitior is allowed to pay for their web site's redesign. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journalism_ethics_and_standards

The new gamespot design is even worse, it's just a fucking mess. Who designs this shit? It's terrible.

Nope. Both companies pay for marketing and if you insult their journalistic integrity have proof of bias to back up your claim. Ive seen many videos on IGN for Xbox One where I had to sit through a PS4 commercial before it aired. Is that any different than what you're griping about? Nope. This is a silly topic. Its marketing. After two weeks is up Sony or Nintendo or anyone can pay for the same thing.

#17 Posted by ConorHat (138 posts) -

@shawn30: I use ad block. If it was marketing I would be able to block it. I cannot. It is literally a sponsorship from Xbox One (not Microsoft itself) for the redesign of their web site. I understand what you're trying to imply, but it doesn't apply to this case.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL

What new lows will MS sink to? They certainly have the cash to burn even though the XBOX brand has done nothing but lose money for MS.

#19 Edited by Gue1 (9590 posts) -

had to go to their site to believe it. lol

not just the ads but the design of the site was changed to kind of replicate the crappy Windows 8 Metro UI and of-course both sponsored by MS.

There is a reason why a referee isn't paid by one of the teams he's watching.

It's incredibly slow in fact. I'd would'nt mind blaming my ISP, but GS is unique in this behaviour.

Edit:

Alos, all major sites lack integrity.

1080p was'nt a big deal last gen, then it started mattering only to go 180 once it became apparent that there would not be parity between consoles.

Just check out GS reviews, critique is wildly inconsistent.

HAHA yeah this was some crap. They still ripped Lococycle and Crimson Dragon though haha. I couldn't believe it when I saw the add. There's got to be something wrong with that.

#33 Posted by Jankarcop (9145 posts) -

console scores are always about the $$$, and even then they can' t manage many aaa/aa games

#34 Posted by Zaibach (13444 posts) -

Can they throw some cash Gamespot's way, this forum is a shambles, slow, cumbersome and down right ugly

#35 Posted by nutcrackr (12494 posts) -

IGN hasn't had credibility in years

And the video player is very slow as well, constant streaming pauses. It's only the gamespot site where I have this :(

What do you mean ? Some reviews say the resolution is a big deal while others don't ?

#37 Edited by Netherscourge (16328 posts) -

IGN XB1 scores are OFFICIALLY no longer credible. Just like Polygon's.

Two sites funded by dirty Microsoft money = DISQUALIFIED FROM GAME REVIEWS.

They can not be considered for scoring purposes, whether they be high or low.

So let it be written. So let it be done.

The motion is seconded.

VERDICT - FINAL.

Okay, so any site with PS4 advertisements should be disqualified from game reviews as well?

ADs? No.

Sponsoring permanent Website features? (Site Pins) Yes.

Appeal DENIED!

#41 Posted by PSdual_wielder (10646 posts) -

The sponsoring explains it, no wonder the UI looks like shit. Hover your mouse over an icon and this giant panel shows up and hogs all the screen space, so annoying.

It doesn't matter, either way the site is funded by money from MS/Sony

I want to see IGN scoring Ryse a 9.0 and the rest of the websites a 6.0, that would be hilarious lol

Actually he does have a point. Because PS4 ad that you view through google ads wouldn't be chosen by the website in question, it would be chose by google based on what you watch. So you could get either a Xbone or PS4 ad and the site has little say in it.
