IGN hands on with Minecraft Vita

Overall, a pretty decent year for Vita owners. We're getting Freedom Wars next month, then Tales of Hearts R, after that, Minecraft sometime in between, and a bunch of great indies and even some random ass JRPGs. Kudos to IGN for at least giving some attention to Vita out of all the mainstream sites.

Notice how Vita bashing is pretty much gone? Personally, I even like the name.

It'll never be the 3DS in terms of succes but it has certainly carved it's own niche quality wise.

Vita will definitely be more highly regarded years from now. There's a ton of games. And yes, that includes exclusives too. It seems like 3DS gets a pass on this because it sold more. But why did it sell more? From my point of view, most of the games are casual and this appeals a lot to kids. Just my two cents.

This wouldn't have been possible without Microsoft.

Meh, probably it won't cripple my eyes on the small screen. That's what kept me from really trying it on PC. If the worlds aren't too small and they lower the ridiculous price I might give it a go.

If you can play it on a phone the Vita has to be better. Just having sticks tp control movement adds a lot to the game. That being said, I'll pass trying to play that game on that small screen.

Yes. The Vita is funny I guess, but we're talking about Minecraft here.

You pass on a great game because the Vita is funny. It would make sense to pass on this game if it sucked.

When is the Vita going to get a real exclusive?

If I wanted to play Minecraft I would have already done it.

Seriously, portable (not on a damn phone) Minecraft sounds awesome.

But this is the first true mobile version of Minecraft to be released. Anyway, you're right. You don't have to play it.

Don't really care about Minecraft, TC, but those other two games you mentioned -- Freedom Wars and Tales of Hearts R -- kinda make me want to buy a Vita...

Hopefully they won't deliver, so I don't have to spend more money, lol.

I'm looking forward to seeing that Microsoft logo appear on the Vita.
