still irrationally hating on the PC gamers?

Pretty sure Charizard talks more about console and handheld gaming than PC gaming

What does your post have to do with this thread?

And I can not wait to play Mario Kart 8.t looks like it will be a really fun game.I'm still don't like how the bikes were nerfed.

Man, the way they're talking about it feels like a Mario Kart game hasn't been released in ten years. :P

All stuff I agree with, I'm very eager for the game. Going to be the first console Mario Kart I actually buy and own.

And about the music, I remember a Kotaku editorial about a guy who sat in a press meeting with two of the Mario Kart representatives and a few other gaming journalists. Interesting that they keep promoting this and yet journalists don't seem to be promoting it like they want.

The translator asks, "But [Mr. Konno] also has a question for all of you: During your time with Mario Kart, were you able to hear the background music pretty well?"

I looked around at the other writers, who all shrugged and shook their heads.

That's too bad, the translator said, because this was the first time they had recorded live music for the game. The team had challenged themselves to get real instruments and time in the studio this time around. It wasn't in every single course, but "definitely more than half." The team knew that it's been "highly documented" in the media that other franchises like Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda used live orchestration, so now they thought it could be Mario Kart's turn.

Step 1: Fill 5 gallon bucket with ice and cold water.

Step 2: Pull pants down slightly below buttocks.

Step 3: Submerge dat ass. (hold up nuts if applicable)

Step 4: Repeat until irritation subsides.

You're welcome.

It can get pretty funny

Dont want to buy this since I have the Wii game and the 3DS game. Maybe I'll gamefly it.

This makes as much sense and relevance as Nicki Minaj singing Twinkle, Twinkle in one of her songs.

another generation, another mario kart........ snore

*Yawn* I was expecting reasons other than it being Mario Kart. Looks like the same old slow and dickery gameplay, except that you can "oooh" drive upside down.

And now I'm a hermit.

Now I've been everything!

I don't really see anything special about it apart from being a prettier Mario Kart, but I'm not a Mario Kart guy to begin with. I'm guessing Nintendo's cheque didn't bounce.

Does Nintendo even have enough money left to send out cheques lol?

Ah yes, clearly, as video gamers, we care more about the hardware a game is on than the game itself.

I really despise Mario and the Mario Kart games, but that video actually made me want to get Mario Kart 8.

Biggest reason NOT to take YOU seriously: get butthurt because people prefer things you don't like by freaking insulting them (see: XBOX vs GC thread)

#20 Posted by nini200 (9446 posts) -

Already preordered. Me and Bowser/Roy/Iggy/Shyguy and Maybe Lakitu are going to pwn all you.

Between this and Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed, I think I'm going to be good as far as Kart Racers go.

#21 Posted by BilkeLegenda (1929 posts) -

Love all Mario karts, and this one looks like it will be absolutely awesome. Just like the other ones.

Ah, System Wars, where the games don't matter and all we care about is the hardware.

It's 1080p@60FPS though, right? That's all that really matters.

Yes, actually.

I think it's 1080p in singleplayer, but gets downgraded to 720p/60FPS for two player splitscreen, and finally 720p/30FPS for four player splitscreen.

Usually, if someone quotes you and put "/thread" that means that your comment was so great that there is no reason to continue the thread. In this case, when you put it there yourself, you just look like a troll.

Okay, NINTENDOboy16, it seems you're still butthurt about the fact that PS2 owned the GC and Xbox.

unfortunately, I don't pay attention to what he says most of the time, so i couldn't speak to whether that post of his was normal or not.

I didn't watch it, because bleh, but I'm excited. It looks fun. It looks great.

It'll be my first WiiU online game. About damn time.

#31 Posted by aroxx_ab (9204 posts) -

So can you play this game online?

Which means indeed.

#33 Posted by stuff238 (611 posts) -

This looks like a Gamecube game with N64 gameplay. 8 Mario Kart games. 2 with SNES graphics. 2 with N64 graphics and 4 with Gamecube graphics. This is a damn joke.

Eight Reasons To Be Excited For Mario Kart 8

  1. Mario Kart 1
  2. MK2
  3. MK3
  4. MK4
  5. MK5
  6. MK6
  7. MK7
  8. MK8

Alternatively:

It's called Mario Kart 8, 'nuff said.

That's what I'd say if I was a huge fan.

I own two Wii Us, but sadly I'm not into racers which include this beloved franchise. Something about going in circles on a track just doesn't get my goat, if you follow. I recognize others enjoy Mario Karting around the tracks though, but I'll be skipping this one until maybe the $20 price-point this time next year. I own almost all of these games, but after MK7 I just looked at myself and realized this series isn't for me.

I'm not here to Blue Shell the game though, so have fun getting excited for the latest Mario Kart installment.

Because unlike the other consoles, the Wii U is actually a real console. It doesn't have all the pay for online, mass advertising, lie about power, DRM bullshit of the PS4 and Xbox. You just turn it on and play some great exclusives. The Wii U is the one console PC gamers don't look down on.

#37 Edited by TheFadeForever (1676 posts) -

well sounds like another mario kart game lol

#38 Posted by finalfantasy94 (26225 posts) -

These games never felt balanced to me.They always felt cheap and unfair.

#39 Posted by joehult (361 posts) -

It's way too busy, just another clusterfuck like double dash, plus the tires don't appear to be touching the ground. Nothing more than Mario kart wii, with an hd pixel count. Not worth wasting 300 on a console, even if they do a kart bundle.

#40 Posted by mariokart64fan (19348 posts) -

@Suppaman100: funny cause thats the very reason i will not play halo 5 or uncharted 4 because thier on consoles of which dont do any thing in particular different then their prodecessors can already do lmao you have been served, at least mariokart 8 is bringing new things to the table just like the system its released on , has done

Split Screen ! Boooyaaaaaa ! ! ! :D

#42 Posted by 93BlackHawk93 (5153 posts) -

I hate playing four player splitscreen on MK. Everything's harder to look.

#43 Edited by DocSanchez (1474 posts) -

Feels like getting over excited about Sonic and a sega. All Stars Racing Transformed. Good game, but, eh. Really not worth losing any sleep over.

#44 Edited by Lulu_Lulu (9637 posts) -

@ 93BlackHawk93

This is where the Wii U's Power becomes a reall issue for me since the console can't run Local Multiplayer on multiple Tablet Controllers. Oh how I wish it had more power so that everybody could have their own screen yet still not have to play online, thats the dream. :D

#45 Edited by HalcyonScarlet (3928 posts) -

Looks interesting and fun. Does it still have rubber band ai? Does it use the Wii U screen pad to interesting effect?

Have to say it does look good.

I agree a good game stuck on a horrible console.

#48 Posted by Pikminmaniac (8687 posts) -

Those are some good reasons to be excited about the game and it's really boosted my excitement, but there are 3 reasons I remain uninterested

-Blue Shell: devalidating your input in a video game since 1997

-Gliding: this is a mechanic that I felt lessened the enjoyment of the track designs. When you launch off a blue boost, the track becomes a simple straight away. It's far more interesting to stay on the ground handling twists and turns

-Coins: Because I'm not a fan of the rigged nature of the items in the races, I spend most of my time in the time trials of a Mario Kart game. However, in the last game and now this one, they brought coins back in. The problem with this is that the enjoyment of precisely hugging corners or improvising more interesting takes on a track are kind of thrown away in favour of following the path of coins they set for you to speed you up.

I remember seeing a GameSpot article that stated you can customize which items are on and off, including the blue shell, shortly after that last trailer was released.
