So long as motion controls aren't the main control scheme, I'll be getting one for the family for Christmas 2017.

It has been suggested that the switch will have motion controls. If true then im guessing it will be a add on for the switch

Still too high especially with the rumor that it comes with only 32GB of storage. I bought an Xbox One S 1TB the other day for just $250.

That's a reasonable price for what they offer. I don't see it failing if it actually is that price

Well... The price looks good on paper. However, consider the fact that Nintendo seems to have designed to as a facilitate lot's of other physical hardware sales. I mean... c'mon... Cartridges!? Ew.

I don't care... Just give it to me with Zelda, I'll duct-tape the Switch to the dock and toss it next to my TV.

It still needs to be worth $250 to be successful at the $250 price.

I just heard it was a wholesale price? In other words only $250 if retailers want to make no money on it?

price isnt the only factor though. If its an awesome system, this price point hits the nail on the head, but Nintendo's silence after the initial reveal has me worried. All we are getting at this point are rumors where the only trustworthy one is the price point so far

Nintendo purpose to show off Switch was just to get the public's feedback and what you saw in the vid was just a prototype demonstration what it can do and I'm cool with Nintendo not sharing any details until January 2017.

Now as far as $250 price goes, given that its a generational jump from the PS Vita, which was $250 at launch... I'd say it's a good price for what they're offering but I expected $250-$300, maybe a deluxe/elite version for $350?

@davillain-: I just get the feeling that something is wrong with it. The rumor mill doesnt really help it as they are saying that its power sucks or the battery life is too short. I just wish Nintendo would set the record straight so we dont have a new leak every other day...

Good luck convincing the masses to buy an overpriced handheld (remember how bad the 3DS tanked when priced too high early on?) or an underpowered console (Wii U) all in one, when they have the Xbox One and PS4 sitting at that same price with existing libraries of great games and consumer trust that more great games will continue to be released.

...is going to sell like hotcakes. Seriously, if it's that cheap, I can see another possible situation like the Wii. The system has been getting a lot of positive reception and if it turns out to be good in January, demand is going to be very high.

I liked the reveal video, but even at 250 I don't think I'll get it. I am not a mobile gamer and that's basically half the system.

In the world that the rest of us live in this feature already pre-existed at least with the Nvidia Shield. So, you are incorrect in your assertion.

When the games are stored on media that would store save games and DLC, an overly big and slow HDD would be a waste.

Well thats a good price for a main console but a bad one for a handheld, and Nintendo have to decide which one it is.

Because its going to be well positioned power wise as a handheld and severely underpowered as a main console. And they can't have it both ways. At that price? Either expensive for a handheld or underpowered.

$250 for USD... So, $350 for Canada is pretty solid. Assuming a straight(ish) exchange.

I'll take less power, for something I can remove from the TV as I need -- though I don't mobile game outside my house.

Unless it launches with a killer app that I can't resist, I'll let others trial it first to see if they need to make hardware revisions.

Define successful.

If you mean it will outsell Wii U, then yeah most likely, but that's not really a big accomplishment.

If you think it will have the potential to come close to 3DS sales then let me stop you there as that will 100% not happen. 25 - 35 million units sold LTD is the best case scenario for the Switch.

@emgesp: you never know what could happen. If it appeals to the Nintendo console fans and the hand held fans along with newcomers to Nintendo any thing is possibly. Most people who game have multiple gaming machines. Parent of kids might like the idea of it because they wont have to buy a gaming machine for the house and on the go. They would have one that can do both. One reason the wii was a success was because it created a new way for people to play games. The switch could in a way do that again. Would you say the PS4 and Xbone are a success? Even tho they are both under power???

As long as it doesn't have anything wonky or crazy going on with the console itself, cause Nintendo tends to throw me off with stuff like that; normally the controller. The Wii was pretty cool, but that Wii Mote was lame, and I didn't really care for the original Wii controller it had, especially since it would work on certain games and not all. I'm hoping this classic controller for the Switch works for all games. I would like to own a standard Switch console with a standard controller to play games, that's it...lol

Successful and weak as hell. Another Wii. If i was a sheep, i'd be ashamed of having a brand new 2017 console that is weaker than an Xbone.

That price with all the Goat exclusives means that Nintendo will be back in a big way.

Pokémon alone will guarantee this will sell more hardware than the WiiU has in its lifetime.

Then add a game as great as Zelda breath of the wild, a 3d Mario, new creative ways to play Mario Kart.

I'm sure Nintendo will also have something creative like Wii Sports lined up, that will really show why they are the most successful gaming company of all time.

The $witch = money ladies and gentlemen.

Shield TV's GeForce 920 MX level GPU can play XBO era games... badly...

GeForce 920MX (548.9 GFLOPS, 16 watts, 28 nm TSMC) example

Low graphics - Antialiasing off - 1366x768

Whitout fraps 30-40 FPS

GeForce 920MX (732.9 GFLOPS, 28 nm TSMC) example

Forza Motorsport 6: Apex Beta on GeForce GT 920M | Windows 10.

Low preset and 1366x768p resolution. XBO version has 1920x1080p with higher detail settings.

Switch has the minimum hardware level to play XBO era games with lowest detail settings which is not bad for mobile device. If Switch is treated as a 3DS replacement, then it's a reasonable product.

According to the forums on gamespot both the PS4 and Xbone are weak...so i dont know why everyone shits on Nintendo for being weak. I owned a ps1, ps2, ps3, xbox 360, xbone, wii u, pc, and just recently got a 3ds xl. PS and MS lately seem to be mostly all about the eye candy they can produce. All i ever seem to come across for threads is how awful both these systems are and how they havent brought anything new to the gaming industry. The only thing different with them each generation is the graphics. At least Nintendo can create a game that plays smoothly. At least they try to bring new ways of gaming to the industry. What has PS and MS brought?

Switch may not be the "most powerful handheld" device as Qualcomm has Snapdragon 830 series for next year.
