Idea Factory President Haru Akenaga made a pretty eye opening statement regarding the issue of censorship of sexualized women in the West.

In an interview with Operation Rainfall, they brought up the recent Dead or Alive Extreme 3 debacle, and how that affected them in deciding what they bring to the west.

Haru Akenaga had this to say:

That’s honestly their decision, but yes, sadly, it has stopped us from localizing certain Compile Heart games. We don’t want to censor anymore because we know that’s not true to the original developed art.

Operation Rainfall also asked if we can start seeing more Asia releases like Moero Chronicle in the future. Akenaga seemed more concerned in trying to fix the situation in the West:

That’s actually Compile Heart Asia’s decision, not really ours. We could start seeing that more in Asia, but maybe we should do something to change in the West in the future. Anyway, we just don’t want to censor anymore.

Despite Japan’s attitude towards sexuality being quite lax, it seems as though the West’s attitude is making it more difficult for certain kinds of games to make it here unchanged.

That sucks. This is why we can't have nice things.

So...No more games because a few random people on the internet were "Offended"? Really?

Censorship. Why is this still a thing?

But who is actually complaining? Tons of these sorts of games released just fine this year. There wasn't any sort of controversy or vocal outcry about their releases.

The only one who can slap an AO rating on a game is the ESRB, so maybe people should direct their rage at that organization instead of a bunch of nobodies who have no influence.

FFS if game companies were gonna stop giving us games in fear of criticism we'd have no goddamn games.

Still though, Games like Onechanbara Z2: Chaos [PS4 exclusive] made it in the west without censoring it and no one gave a damn about it when it release this past July. Also there's still Senran Kagura: Estival Versus that's still coming to PS4 and no one hasn't bitch about censoring it since that games has barely nudity and so did for Onechanbara Z2: Chaos. Having said that, DOA: Extreme 3 wasn't about the whole censoring controversy, Team Ninja/Koei Tecmo Games are using these as an excuse to not release it in the west cause they know not many people will buy it cause it's a bad game that won't make up the sales. Notice that there's English support, they know that western audience will import it so they rather let people import it then shipping it out to the West. Having said that, they know I'll be importing it to the U.S and yeah, they got me on this one, will import this to PS4.

Botem-line: This has nothing to do with SJW press talk, this is about not risking sales by not releasing it to the West.
