Poll I need help : Gamecube VS XBOX 360 Which to get? (45 votes)

GC 58%
360 (Later versions of course...) 42%
Repair my old 360 (first model) 0%

Hey guys! I'm not sure if this is the right topic to post this but,I think it's the closest to the subject.

So,I used to have both a GC AND a 360,although I had the GC for a very little while. When my second 360 broke down,I didn't repair it and got a PS3.I also sold my entire collection, except for my DOA Ultimate and DOA3.For GC,I sold every game except for Metroid Prime 2.

Now,I have 3 choices.

1) Repair my old 360.Note that it is the first model and it'll probably overheat AGAIN sooner or later.

2) Another 360 but a later version (say Slim,E or whatever) to avoid overheat.I mostly want this for my old XBOX DOA games (I'm a huge fan) and DOA4,as well as a few other games.

3) Gamecube. There are some games like REmake and Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes that I want to play on it.It has a lot of great retros.

So,what do you think?

NOTE that it's not only the poll that matter. You can also help me by commenting and analyzing your opinion.

Thank you in advance everyone!

Get a new 360. I have a BC ps3 and I like playing some classics, but the library for ps3/360 are so massive. Just let the far past go, and play last gen

It depends on what exclusives you're more interested in. Personally, i can't see the 360 being worth it because almost no exclusives interest me, on the other hand, there are a lot of great Gamecube exclusives worth buying the system for. But like i said, depends on what exclusives you want to get into.

So is the Gamecube/PS2 library, what's your point? Each system has something different to offer. If it interests you, it doesn't matter if it released 2 years or 20 years ago ... Or are you somehow implying that the library offered by the SNES and PS2 are not worth getting into simply because they're in the 'far past' ?

This is a tough one, honestly.

No chance that you could end up getting both after all?

If you don't have it, get a Wii . You can play both GC & Wii games. Besides GC games, MP:C would be great for you :-)

exclusives = / = only games there. People tend to forget that multiplats exist.

On that note i would say get the GC because it should be very cheap and you should be able to still find most of it's games around.

@Lucianu: who peed in the corn flakes guy? TC asked for a vote and opinion, I gave him one. I regularly play old games, after all I am 41 years old and have been at this hobby a long time. Lighten up bro.

That's tough. I'd say a GC with the GB Player.

But both shouldn't be that expensive to get at this time.

Actually, yes, this would be the best idea.

Get a Wii, it plays the complete Gamecube library as well as the complete Wii library. It's also going to be cheap enough, and you get access to a shit ton of great games.

Just remember to ensure that the Wii you get plays Gamecube games (it will have ports for Gamecube controllers).

I don't know what gave you the impression that i might be angry or irritated, i really am not. I was curious about your recommendation. Some things i disagree with, said what was on my mind, and that's all.

I'll definitely not ignore multiplats, but wen judging between two consoles with the same multiplats, i'll go with the console which has the exclusives most interesting to me, and play the multiplats on that system aswell. Ofcourse, this doesn't apply to the GC & 360 thread subject.

@Lucianu: "Or are you somehow implying that the library offered by the SNES and PS2 are not worth getting into simply because they're in the 'far past' ?" comes across a bit confrontational. What's the point of getting into what we think the other implied, looks like we're both wrong.

Guys I DID mention my favourite games for each console above. I LOVE Dead Or Alive so that's the main reason for my getting a 360.However,most games are cross platform and have most of those for my PS3.As for GC,it's REmake, but more importantly,MGS : Twin Snakes.I was never really a fan of Nintendo's classics like Mario and Super Smash Bros.

I'd recommend going for a backwards-compatible Wii model, since that will give you access to both the GameCube and Wii libraries, along with the Virtual Console for many older Arcade, NES, SNES, N64, Master System, Mega Drive and PC Engine games.

If you really love DOA and are not a fan of Nintendo's stuff, then go with the 360. It seems like the obvious choice for you.

What about getting a backwards compatible Wii? Double your library.

Gamecube if you can get the games, i have a working gamecube minus the fact i accidently threw the AV cable out, gutted i can tell you, the gamecube had by far the best exclusives in it's respective generation.

Both? Buy a newer 360, and pick up a Game Cube or a Wii for like $30.
