I was thinking of getting a new laptop that can play games. I already have a nice laptop but it doesn't play high requirement games very well.

My other option was I was going to pimp out a spare room I have. I already have a big screen tv, 360, Wii and PS3 in my room, but I was thinking about getting a HDTV about 42 inches, a Wii and a PS3 to put in the spare room. I have an extra 360 to put in it too so I wouldn't need to buy a new one.

Which one sounds better?

If you want to game on the PC,forget the laptops, get a custom build with better parts for less money. Besides, you already have a laptop for everything else.

This. Keep the laptop you have. Build a custom gaming desktop rig... or get one built for you. Much cheaper than a gaming laptop.

Build yourself a nice $600 rig and buy $400 worth of games on steam or d2d. At least thats what I would do. Easily come away with 100+ games. Cause at the end of the day it's all about the games.

Depends. Do games on the PS3 and Wii appeal to you more than games such as Starcraft 2, Battlefield 3 (superior PC version), and The Witcher 2? Are you happy with the graphcis and multiplats on your 360? Do you have more friends gaming on PS3/Wii than PC? Plus it's always more fun to pimp out your room :P but if you're going for PC, then like others have said; go for a desktop, you can't get that good of a gaming laptop for $1000.

I obviously don't know your financial status right now, yet why would you decide to spend a $1000 on video games? At least when you don't even know what to spend it on... Yet to answer your question, go for PC gaming. With that kind of money you could get years worth of quality gaming just from Steam deals.

I would get a desktop for gaming. Laptops kind of suck at that. My friend spent about 1000$ on a laptop for gaming from what I've seen it's really not that great. It can play most new games coming out on medium I think.

Why don't you wait and see if the next Nintendo console suits your fancy, and save for that plus an HDTV?

Take your sweet sweet time dude, do a little research on sites like tomshardware and look around for the best deal on the best parts. Well worth it.

A new/spruced up entertainment center would probably get much more usage than a gaming oriented PC.
