Yes you read that right. An engineering sample of AMD's upcoming Tahiti x2 GPU sold for a whopping $96,100.0.

I think someone is off their meds. :P

some asshole keeps outbidding me. It's gonna cost me my monthly salary pffffffff, probably going need some allowance from my wife when the bidding is over

#5 Posted by lhughey (4295 posts) -

It has to be sold in order to be the "most expensive ever sold".  :)

It's gonna be yanked.

#6 Posted by DrTrafalgarLaw (4485 posts) -

And people say alienwares are expensive lol

Alienware_fan

They are and only idiots buy it.

#7 Posted by Alienware_fan (1514 posts) -

[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"][QUOTE="bobbetybob"] ...games. Fans just keep heat down, you could have one fan, 3 fans, 20 fans, it doesn't mean something is more powerful, it just means it has better cooling which is never a bad thing. seanmcloughlin

having 3 fans implies it generates enough heat through processing to justify needing 3 fans.

You make it sound as if 3 fans is something new and crazy. Even a 480 has a triple fan setup.

pov_tgt_gtx480_ultra_charged.jpg

And yes it does mean it's generating a lot of heat. Even a 690 only has 1 fan for 2 GPUs

Thats not a reference model though, I havent seen any other reference model card with three fans.

One thing that pisses me off is a loud video card.

DUMB!!! :!:

#10 Posted by BrunoBRS (73263 posts) -
i don't know if i'm more shocked at the price, or the overkill amount of fans dedicated to a single card. what are they powering there, a reactor?
#11 Posted by lundy86_4 (44160 posts) -

Awesome lol. You know you're rich when you can spend 100 grand on a GPU.

#12 Posted by BPoole96 (22811 posts) -

God damn PC Gaming is expensive. Looks like I'll have to go rob a bank for my next upgrade.

#13 Posted by MLBknights58 (5015 posts) -

Well..  I thought I was dumb for paying 40 dollars for Castlevania Chronicles, but dayum.

#14 Posted by Truth_Hurts_U (9434 posts) -

Nvidia prob bought it to chop it up and test it.

Not really that crazy, plenty of graphics cards have 3 fans, mine does and that's not even a dual GPU like the Malta is.

still sounds overkill. i mean, those are DEDICATED fans. what kind of insane thing are you running on your PC that would even justify that?
#17 Posted by lundy86_4 (44160 posts) -

No wonder they have to pirate games.

Mr_BillGates

You're just sad because you're poor.

The price is almost close to a 2012 model of a BMW m6.

Dat immersion?

#21 Posted by StrongBlackVine (9467 posts) -

I would say this is dumb, but $100K is probably the equivalent to $100 for whoever bought it. I doubt the person is even a gamer.

Dayum that's a lot. I mean who the hell pays $50 for shipping?
#26 Posted by tagyhag (15867 posts) -
I wonder if it was actually Nvidia who bought it. It wouldn't be too Far-fetched .
#27 Posted by ZoomZoom2490 (3943 posts) -
its useless without the drivers, so whats the point? rofl this is just some hype, or AMD doing it on purpose so when they release it and charge you $1200 for it and it wont look that expensive.

You can put a rig together with twice the power for the money they ask, why fall for their marketing?

See that's why I thought it was an Nvidia employee. Get an early look at your competitor's device.
