How will Destiny run on the PS3? Disaster or Great Port?

We all know that the lead platform for the game is PS4. Given that and its exclusive content, Sony will get the superior version. However, I also feel like it will get the worst version with the PS3. Thoughts?

I haven't seen any screenshots of the current gen, but Bungie has made several fantastic games on the Xbox 360 (they are probably the best developers that xbox has ever had). They have never made a PS3 game. The architecture is very different. Most developers had several swings at it but bungie has had none.

Since I know hardware so well, the 8g32 in the PS3 is slightly better than 8f32 in 360. And far superior to the 7d21 in the Wii. So you'll b fine

well, this will be their first encounter with the Cell, weaker GPU than the X360's and segmented memory pool. lol

The question should probably be, will affect the PS3 and Xbox 360 being taken into account during development have any effect on the PS4 and Xone?

Unfortunately there is no way it won't have a negative effect on the current gen versions. I wish they had just hired a studio to a downgraded port for last gen.

Because there aren't 160 million potential customers on last gen hardware. And there are far more than ~15 miliion on new gen.

Who knows? I think you make some valid points though. A disappointing PS3 version would surprise very few around here.

This is really my only concern with Destiny.

I have immense faith in Bungie's ability to craft an amazing FPS experience, but it's being made for FOUR consoles across two generations of hardware.

They said that the previous gen versions aren't "holding back" the current gen versions but unless they literally made two separate games, Bungie HAD to design the games around the lowest common denominator (360, PS3) as their baseline. Am I wrong?

Hopefully the last gen versions will just look like shit because prioritized current gen.

Bungie had a big ass sign on their home page hiring playstation devs for a long time once halo reach was done.

Also bungie staff is grown A LOT and If i remember reading something while ago There is upwards of 500 people at bungie working on destiny

Probably terrible, I'd imagine developers will be spending less and less time "optimizing" for last gen versions. So PS3 might suffer worse...

In a business sense yes, in a progression of true next gen games no.

Yeah. consoles struggling to get their games up to 1080p @ 60fps and still maintain a graphical fidelity like that of a 2011 PC game. PC surpassed the ability of the "next gen" consoles a couple years before they even came out. If their sole reason of existence is to push visuals, then they are likely going to die off.

It's a huge misconception that late gen games with huge install bases sell better than launch window games on new consoles.. There is tons of evidence against it. Putting it on all possible platforms is obviously best. But the install bases mean jack shit at this point - Destiny is a PS4/Xbone game that happens to be on ps360

It is likely that Destiny may sell more on last gen consoles than on current gen. The install base is way bigger.
