29, teacher.

Don't make a bunch but I know how to save money well enough that it's never been an issue when it comes to spending, plus the woman is ok with it so I'm gravy. I don't spend too much money on games outside my Vita because it's better spent on vacations and all.

For what it's worth, I have a good degree from a great university and could earn more if I wanted. I'm just trying to make sure the next generation doesn't turn into SNIPER or StrongBlackVine, you feel?

I'm 28, I have a really shitty job as a security guard. Took it almost 2 years ago because it was something easy to do after my 2nd spinal surgury. The only good thing is I work nights so I just play ds/vita all night or watch netflix. Starting to look for something else because my paycheck hasn't been this shitty since high school and I miss the sun

About to be 27. I work with children, but might also take up a glass working gig on the side.

Gaming budget is tight, but I make sure I can get the games I want by selling games I have finished before. As such I never own more then a few dozen at a time (not counting digital releases).

I'm 26 and I work as a machine operator in a factory named Peacock. They package and produce food for Jimmy Deans and Lunchables. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's colder than a witch's tit in there all the time.

Pays very well but gaming has taken a back seat to more important things "compared to the past". Wife, 2 kids, mortgage, 2 car payments, 1970 Chevelle restoration Yada yadda... Life is good though, no complaints.

22. Student. Owner of football field/tuckshop that comfortably finances my gaming. I rarely buy $60 games because most simply aren't worth it but games like MGS5 and Uncharted 4 are the type of exceptions. Swap/trade and $10 deals are the way to go.

30, English as Second Language teacher, a private tutor, occasional translator and a reviewer. I work at one multiplatform website professionally and I write for an Xbox blog. I pay for games from my own pocket but I tend to get quite a few games from big publishers, too on a regularly basis. I've never been influenced or forced to adhere to anyone's wishes with my reviews, though. In the past I used to be active in alternative music press.

28. Marketing Guru / Director of Marketing / Marketing Department at a non-profit here in town. I'm a one-man department, so except for the thing I outsource like larger graphic or web design pieces, I take care of it all.

Three factors contribute to my ability to afford gaming:

  1. I don't have as much time to play games.
  2. There are fewer games that I actually want to play.
  3. In that list of games I actually want to play these days, there are even fewer that I'll purchase at full price--games that I would even consider buying for $30 I am not waiting till they drop to below $20.

I am a rags to riches back to rags story that I wont fully fill in.

Currently, I am a first time college student in my 40's using my GI Bill. It supports me for 36 months while a full time student. I rent from my uncle a Vietnam veteran so I can save much of the money I get.

I'm 30 and I'm a Computer Systems Engineer. I make enough that I never have to worry about not being able to afford what I want in gaming; the only problem that I have is having enough time to play all that I want in gaming. Given that I always have a backlog of games that I have not had time to get around to playing yet, that also makes me patient enough to usually wait to buy games until I can find a good deal on it.

Now I work in a hospital as a Transportation and Supply Technician, but I also have a small business on the side as a Videographer and Dj.

I'm also looking into investment....should have done it years ago, I could have been retiring before 50.

Nice! I restored a '70 in high school. I bought it from a scrap yard for $50. It wasn't even recognizable as a Chevelle. I replaced everything except the shell and frame. I built a 6-71 supercharged 383 stroker for it. I spared no expense; all roller valve train, aluminum 2.02 heads, hyperutectic pistons, Mallory magneto, timing gears (which produces a better wine than the blower) ,fuel injection, metallic ceramic headers and Brembo discs.

It has sat in the barn for the last 15 years. In hindsight if I had purchased Apple stock instead I wouldn't have to work right now.

36. I'm currently on disability for cancer related reasons. Thank God my wife has a great job. We have our own house which after I pay half of the mortgage I have roughly $200 left for gaming related stuff and other miscellania.

The cancer came back when I was in mortuary college out of state in '13. I still managed to graduate valedictorian though so you guys don't think I'm a lazy POS.

41, a warehouse worker for the last two years in California. While I earn about $1,000 a month which would be enough to buy several games, my interest in gaming is currently in decline as I am now focusing on the U.S. Presidential campaign. I have been donating more money to my favorite candidate than spending money on games this year. Once the campaign is over, I will retart my interest in gaming.

31, (may 21th birthday) I'm a Nurse Practitioner.

My career pays very well, but I really hate working with some of the doctors mainly some of them are lazy asses but still, the money is well worth it. I'm pretty good at budgeting my money and when it comes to games releases, I plan ahead for that game by splitting half my money going to that game and the rest on house/car bills. I own lots of games that I haven't gotten around playing due to time but when I'm off, I stay home to play catch ups and I'm really good at managing my time. My 3DS gets lots of gaming time (since I'm most of the times out the house) then my consoles/PC.

Edit: I have a 9 year old daughter, me and my baby mama live together and we been together since high school and I have no intent on getting married whats-so-ever.

32- Engineer for a diagnostic imaging company. I didn't have much growing up so it's nice being in the situation I'm in now. I had to work my ass off to get here though since I refused to go into debt with student loans. At one time while going to school I worked 4 part time jobs. Once I didn't see a future in that path, I joined the military, finished school, got out and here I am.

I spend a ton of money on gaming which is silly because I have a wife, small child and a job that demands 60+ hours of my time each week. Luckily I have random down time and work from home some so I can post here and argue with you fools. I'm thankful for every minute.

39, I have a good job working in a union as an operating engineer, basically just a fancy term for heavy equipment operator. I work with cranes mostly, but can run many types of heavy equipment. Used in the construction industry such as pipeline, building and trades, bridges, etc...you could say I help build America :)

34, IT Software Development/Security.

Pretty much how i pay for games, though its kind of hard to find much time to play now with a new baby. Dont buy games full price, usually find sales around the web. Last full price game was Uncharted 4 which ive only put 2hrs into.

This is the look i get when I want time to play:

How old are you and what you do in real life? How you afford your gaming?

52, Veterinarian. I own a dog and cat ( even though I seldomly have a cat as patient ) clinic mostly specialized in dog reproduction so I perform a lot of artificial inseminations and cesarian sections ( my record is 4 c-sections in one day, which btw was a Sunday ) on an almost daily basis.

28 and don't do much of anything. I made a few well timed investments (commercial real estate) about two years ago and have been reaping the benefits since then. Plan on going back to school in spring '17 so I can be more productive lol.
