But all I have been hearing about since the two newest consoles were released is power and resolution. So, seems to me that is very important. And the PC beats both consoles at this. But its not important when PC is brought up?

If pc gaming was so great pc gamers wouldn't be trying so hard to convince everyone it's not dead and doing amazing, which they do every 5 posts or so. The constant reaffirmation indicates very little faith in the platforms future (which will be freemuim candy crush games).
By logic it must be since the so called most powerful console PS4 comes wit a fking tablet/netbook CPU hahahahahahah.
So going by digital numbers you can tell PS4 will be limited to 720p-900p or else graphics and ai will take a terrible hit.
Its just a pissing contest to see who has the bigger...resolution.
and frames per second. and games.
Where are the AAA exclusives then? Its been a while since Crysis 1 and The Witcher 2.
go to MC and GS. Look them up, PC has more than consoles each gen.

This is some lazy ass trolling, even by your standards.
@lostrib: i will agree because it can always use more.
even so, i am really impressed with the linux support so far. 420 games on steam os.
have you ever booted into a linux os of your own volition?
Closest I've gotten is using it in a virtual machine just to see how it looked
@uninspiredcup: Just out of curiosuity, are you bipolar? Or do you share accounts? Ome day you call console gamers peasants and PC gaming great. Literally within 3 hours, you talk about how PCs suck and PC gaming is dying. This has happened multiple times
And lol PC gamers only show stats because console gamers keep saying "PC gaming is dying" it's annoying as shit because PC is growing faster than consoles and is earninf just as much.

Nowadays, I prefer to game on my PC for the much better performance (imo), control, freedom, and to play multiplats/exclusives that I enjoy if given the opportunity. It's quite simple really. I grew up playing on both consoles & PC's. But I'm not really impressed with consoles anymore (especially the new ones). The console war (mostly Xbone vs PS4) is kind of pathetic when you really take a deep look into it. You aren't really getting different experiences, just different brands. "Brand Wars". There isn't much to differentiate them these days except for the exclusives, and maybe a gimmick or two. So you guys resort to arguing about petty things. Consoles do have a value, but it depends on the individual's needs/wants. I still have to use a console for the exclusive titles I love. But, I feel that the industry is shifting in several ways; it's going to be an interesting next few years.

That's you, except you use a dualshock controller.
On topic: I prefer consoles but the pc has much much more games, alot of them are better then most console games.
Looks like I made another hermit butthurt it seems.
Have fun with your indies though and don't forget to keep on begging for GTA V. LOL

In 2012 : Guild Wars 2 (Time's Game of the Year) , Diablo 3 .
In 2013 : Heart of the Swarm , Shadow Warrior , Total War : Rome 2 (had issues on launch, works fine now) .
In 2014 : The Forest , Vanishing of Ethan Carter , Elite Dangerous etc (All open world) . Hopefully Routine and Lichdom : Battlemage will launch this year as well .

Short attention span? I have a PS4 and PS Vita...
Silly Failureman.
You did say we get better graphics, but you forgot: smoother framerates, more exclusives, emulators and the greatest application that is Steam.
And I have to agree with my buddy Vlad, who wants to be in a car with a peasant? no one.
Tell me something, where is GTA V for PC?
OK, lets get this straight: GTA v will be coming to PC later this year. The vastly superior version that doesn't look and play like shit.
In the meantime GTA IV on PC creams V on PeasantStation 3 and will cream it on Peasantbox 1 and PeasantStation4. I Modded IV and played it yesterday and it was one of the most fantastic gaming experiences I've had in months. Also the most photorealistic game I've ever played with the new Icenhancer mod I tried out.
Once again. PC gets 90 % of AAA games; something either Xbone and PS4 (not both) dont.
PC multi-plats tear peasant version to pieces in all respects.
PC has its own exclusives: ARMA3, D3 Reaper of Souls, Simcity, Total War, Civ 5 and the list goes on. All distinct AAA games that stand out as leaders in their respectives genres.
PC will snap up just about every game this generation; the 4 or 5 must play games that will make it to either next gen console platform most of us will probably play too but for much cheaper much later on this generation. In the meantime we will avoid those plastic POS like a plague and game on the vastly superior platform wherever possible.

What does AAAE have to do with winning an award like GOTY?
How did Journey class as GOTY over the many other great games of the year? oh right, you won't discuss the absolute bullshit random-pick nature of the award.
Allow me to be serious for a second:
Rarely have I seen so much projection in SW a thread. I get the impression that we've really gotten to the consolites, which ironically speaks volumes about the quality of PC gaming ;)
Several posters seem genuinely offended and downright emotionally hurt over our alleged "elitism", yet we bicker daily over which console has the most power and which fanbase is the most rabid.
Lemmings absolutely LOVE accusing cows of being "far worse" the others at the moment, because they're having a hard time promoting their object of deification. We were called elitists for much of last gen for doing what consolites did, and the pot seems intent on continuing calling the kettle black.
Does noone see the irony?

And what about Journey, it seemd the GS staff though it was the best game then. In their eyes it was one of the few indies worthy of such an award.
I don't think PC gamers are the master race. But, I do like how aspects of PC gaming can actually be beneficial and make education feel fun:

Yet I am absolutely confident that more people would of chosen Path of Exile or Day Z for such an award....
Given that those games are far more than a flashy 2 hour experience.
I can't anwser your question. I was ALWAYS under the impression that GOTY was picked like "pop awards" ... E.G ... not purely based on Quality/Longetivity/Competitive and the award is not even aimed at veteran/hardcore gamers (or whatever you call gaming enthusiasts these days).
To my best knowledge, it was always about pop-game culture awards..... what appeals to most people and is suprising. ofcourse, some games like Demon Souls are nice suprise exceptions. but quite frankly the list is usually dominated by the same tired games but done extra pretty.
Which leeds me to my next point, alot of the GOTYs are available on PC.... even if they were not native to it originally (anything Wii. newer Dark Souls games) ... the only ones that are not, are Sony games... which are 10 hour flashy games that the millions upon millions playing the big PC games would look at and laugh at the simplicity, the lack of gameplay and any kind of depth.
That an answer for you? GOTY is a pop-culture award. PC is not casual pop-culture.
Now, answer my question maggot. how does having BY FAR the most AAAE quality games that are in the same review-pool as each GOTY become redundant just because of a pop-award?

I'm in meteorology. But, I also do aviation weather. I love customizing the weather engine in Flight simulator X. By playing the game, I have more appreciation for the workload a pilot has. Plus, I get a clue of how pilots see the weather conditions from their perspective. It's kind of hard to visualize when we're far below sitting on the ground.
For example, if I was under the clouds here, I would've said it's a terrible day. But, from a pilot's perspective? Nah. it's sunny overall. And, yup. I got some air time every now and then...to take photos. ;)
Edit:
I just remembered something...... A few years ago, I once had an Army soldier come up to me and say he wanted to be a helicopter pilot. I recommended FSX and buying a 3rd-party HH-60 Seahawk/Blackhawk addon. I'm not sure how much that helped. But, he got accepted into flight school late last year.

And even then there's only like two or three of them every generation. There are so many ways to experience/play the likes of Uncharted 2/TLOU without having to resort to buying a console. Like you say, they're shorter cinematic games without much re-playability so we can experience them once or twice (rent or play at a friends or a buy a console if it comes to that) and then the cupboard is pretty much bare as far first party as exclusives go. PC exclusives tend to be games with a lot more longevity that live on your PC and that you play for a long time.
I stopped pc games because the console market simply stole the show. Genres that were more in depth and inherent to the pc format took on a console form. There are very few pc games that interest me. I'd play Starcraft, but to be honest that big boom of RTS games during the early 2000s kind of wore me out. Games like Rainbow Six aren't made at all, really, anymore. Games like Commandos, etc. The pc format almost feels to be moving backwards instead of forwards. Had consoles not become the dominant force in the industry, as they are, imagine what a Ghost Recon type game, built from the ground up, for pc could be.

OH BUT IT IS ALREADY BEGUN
The ps4 can only compete with ports of previous gen games, like tomb raider. But with next gen games the difference is already showing even on 1080p, with people that have monitors/tv's with higher resolutions the difference is much bigger. I don't know how long the ps4 will last, but the longer it will last the more painfull it will be, it's a weak system.
Dark souls II may only be a comparison with the previous gen consoles but it's not available on the ps4 and x1. That's something people tend to forget, they buy a next gen console and they comparing with the pc,
but it doesn't have any games lol
Peasants..., why do they always keep on trying.

So GOTY is a pop-culture award? LMFAO, okay didn't hear this damage control yet.
If GOTY was a true pop culture award we would see games like BF, COD and GTA constantly winning these awards. But we don't... And a PC exclusive has just as much chance of winning a GOTY award than a console game. Your argument is nothing more than damage controlling and it's clear you didn't read my link where I had almost the same discussion about GOTY being a money fueled/ pop-culture/...award.
"the only ones that are not, are Sony games... which are 10 hour flashy games that the millions upon millions playing the big PC games would look at and laugh at the simplicity, the lack of gameplay and any kind of depth." HAHAHA! So another type of damage control. Calling Sony exclusives 10 hour flash games? And you were saying you weren't a lemming? Oh I'm convinced now, especially with that avatar. Lol you pitiful fool.
"how does having BY FAR the most AAAE quality games that are in the same review-pool as each GOTY become redundant just because of a pop-award?" So it's clear you didn't read my link with my reasoning where I answered this question.
Oh and since we're going the ad-hominem route. Srs, you're nothing more than a loser, a hermit/lemming that gets butthurt because someone critiques his beloved PC. But what else could I expect from an inbred from Cardiff.

Indeed.
PC gaming has become nothing more than indies, mmo's, fps's an some rts games.
The glory days of PC are over.
Sure they get better graphics, but they don't necessarily get better games. You can't play console exclusives which are developed by the some of the best studios in the world. In terms of the medium, consoles push gameplay and storytelling, PCs push the next hardware. And with next gen consoles here, the graphical advantage is not what is used to be. Also, next gen consoles are quickly becoming the home to many indie games, so PC doesn't even have that anymore. And lastly, who wants to buy a desktop these days unless you really need to? So can we finally agree that the PC master race is no more?
These PC fanboys pump $300/year into their system in order to play the latest games on super high settings. The PC does things consoles can't, but when it comes to true versatility, consoles are truly dominant, particularly the X1. When you have friends over you can't hover around the PC sitting on the desk; people want to hang out in the living room and play. When playing games you don't always want to stick to RTS style games either. Consoles offer flexibility.
PC fanboys are always suffering from viruses and blue screens of death as well while my iMac never suffers a single hiccup. Sad PC fanboys.
apple fanboy talking about costs ? Mkkk

Pretty much. I'll game on PC as my primary platform but if you are going to call yourself a gamer you need a console or two. There are lots of games that aren't released on PC that are just too good to miss.

Now, answer my question maggot. how does having BY FAR the most AAAE quality games that are in the same review-pool as each GOTY become redundant just because of a pop-award?
And even then there's only like two or three of them every generation. There are so many ways to experience/play the likes of Uncharted 2/TLOU without having to resort to buying a console. Like you say, they're shorter cinematic games without much re-playability so we can experience them once or twice (rent or play at a friends or a buy a console if it comes to that) and then the cupboard is pretty much bare as far first party as exclusives go. PC exclusives tend to be games with a lot more longevity that live on your PC and that you play for a long time.
Indeed, but this will never sink in to the likes of Suppaman....
His, and goty award like mindset believe making games as pretty and movie like as possible is what makes a game.... a shallow "quality" perspective.
