This is because the fact that PC components are VERY expensive in Japan. So they can't handle Crysis, hell not even the Half-Life 2 series. I mean there most cutting edge game is Typing of the Dead 2. Pretty much the main reason why they don't play FPS's because console FPS's suck because of the controls and their PC's aren't powerful enough to run the PC FPS's.

Half-Life 2 is an arcade game in Japan. So my guess is that it isn't very popular.
PC gaming is really a niche market in Japan, aside from the hentai games as someone already mentioned (those are huge in Japan :| )
I don't think MMORPGs are particularly big in Japan, aside from maybe FFXI or Lineage 2... and smaller, sprite-based MMORPGs like RF Online or Ragnarok Online...

Monster Hunter is well over a million seller there. Well that's for consoles so I guess that statement still stands.
It is very small, when I was there I didn't see that many computer games, I did find this store that had pretty old games and it had Half Life: OpFor (I was really thinking about getting it just for the Japanese Box).
idk about japan but Korea is a huge market for PC games and so is China (WOW). They actually had to limit play time in China because people were dieing b.c they were playing WoW so much.
Not just WOW, but also CS. Chinese people (excluding me) are addicted to CS. Anyone see teh Two Chinese kids lip syncing videos? The dude in the background, like any good Chinese, is playign CS.
It's quite big, mostly hentai (those are BIG, last gen there were more ofthose games made each year than for all "big consoles" combined and some of those games can surpass million copies) and doujin games though, but especialy bishojo games sell tons in Japan. MMOs are also quite popular(Ultima Online still has 70K subcribers there and every ps2 mmo had pc version, most of the time more popular than ps2 version).
