It is not as important as say, Final Fantasy XIII exclusivity, but it is still a valuable trump card for many hardcore fans of the series. I myself want a PS3 solely for that game.
MGS4's exclusivity isn't important to PS3 fans but to MGS fans themselves. It doesn't matter to which console it goes exclusively. What's important is for Hideo Kojima and his team to put all their efforts in developing the game without worrying for it to run on multiple platforms. If it goes to PS3 exclusively then good. If it goes to Xbox 360 exclusively then good. If it goes to both consoles then that's bad.
As a long time lurker of this forum i can't believe what I am reading. Some of the most horrendous Sony fans seem on the ropes. It's incredible. Maybe this was a bigger blow than I first envisioned.

DMC is arguably the third greatest exclusive the PS3 had. Losing it is a GINORMOUS blow to those who are holding out for a next gen console, like me. I didnt buy a next gen console at launch because im taking a 'wait and see' attitude. And im all seeing is my once great Sony brand getting lumped up.

I stopped caring about Warhawk as soon as I saw how bad its being mangled. Lair and Heavenly Sword are still promising. But I'd still be more excited about MGS4 than any of those (if only because its an established franchise that I know I want to continue).

It would be Solid Snake blasting the sony name with a rocket launcher. It would be a death blow to the sony corporation. In order for me to buy a sony PS3 it would have to be exclusively to them and the game would have to be a damn perfect 10. Right now my killer app for going out to buy a next gen console is gears of war.

lol you can't tell me cows are actually pinning their hopes on Warhawk (which is an online only downgrade), Lair and Heavenly Sword...i guess i can understand it, though, seeing as how their beloved system is bleeding exclusives all over the place
