No its not. CoD3 is one of the worse WW2 games out there actually.

doesn't mean it's not fun. from a purely technical standpoint, it had superior sound, arguably equivalent graphics, equivalent gameplay, equivalent value. tilt is up the the individual.

Both games FPS, both games reviewed AFTER Gears of War.

R:FOM

It has a better single player campaign.

It has better graphics.

It has bigger & better online component.

It has better guns.


Call of Duty 3

It has vehicles in online modes.

It has better sound.

So how exactly did Call of Duty 3 outscore R:FOM? It could be that Greg Kasavin is a tougher reviewer than Aaron Thomas. But come on....

It's tough to say really, while I don't own R:FOM, my floormate down the hall has it and I've logged about 10 hours or so. 

I find COD3's single player element lacking when it comes to R:FOM's, purely because COD3 was so similar to COD2, it didn't do much to differentiate.  While R:FOM's single player campaign certaintly wasn't breathtaking and blowing me away, I was more interested in progressing with the single player in R:FOM than with COD3.

Graphics...I still think COD3 is a better looking game.  I think the texturing is slightly better, and while the physics and glass effects aren't what Resistance has, I think the particle effects, animations, and well, graphics are slightly, slightly better. 

Weapons, obviously Resistance's weapons are more interesting and have more functionality than COD3's.  I had a lot of fun with the rocket launcher in Resistance, but to be honest, I love the old school COD3 weapons a lot.  I don't think that this game should come down to comparing weapons, because COD3 is aiming for authenticity in look, sound, animation and feel; while Resistance is aiming to create fun, interesting, exotic weaponry.

With regards to online, again it comes down to personal choice.  I like having a mic that everyone uses in COD3.  I really enjoy the different ranks and specializations of riflemen, medics, etc, over just having 40 people go nuts in a map.  Once again though, it's personal preference, and not to sound like a fanboy or an ass, but as an Xbox gamer I've been spoiled by having numerous online FPS', so Resistance wasn't exactly blowing me away.

To me, COD3 is the more fun, better game.  I'm probably biased, because I own it, but I did think I gave Resistance a fair chance, and while it was really fun and cool, I find myself enjoying COD3 more.

There both good games, both are extremely repetitive. Ill give the edge in SP to Resistance I enjoyed it much. CoD SP was good but it sucked compared to CoD2. CoD2>>>R:From... Mp wise I give the edge to CoD3, extremely intense and crazy OMG moments often. Resistance on the other hand in 40 player matches it a death fest. And when its not a deathfest its i cant find anyone. Its pretty lag-free and its holds 40 people other than that it gets boring and fast. There arent that many weapons, and the game is a snorefest after a hour. Graphics and sound CoD3 wins. CoD3 is a beauty of a game, not to say Resistance isnt, but some texture on R:From look horrible, as well the ground and some building. Overall graphics CoD3 wins. Sound CoD3 crushes it, its sound is amazing and in 5.1 it cant be beat massive explosives. Resistance sound is good but not groundbreaking. Overall I think there about equal, both deserveing a 8.6, either are as good as Cod2.

Well its a fact that Resistance has a better online setup than COD3...it took me 45 mins for COD3 to join a game once

Casey, you will always defend the GameSpot reviews -- no matter what -- you will never second guess or question the reviews. I wouldn't if I were in your shoes either. But without a history of ever asking "why" or other critique of GS reviews, should we really be looking to you for the end-all-be-all judicator to this sort of discussion?

Theres no opinion. CoD3 is a bad WW2 game. It would score in the 6-7 range if it was on pc.

Graphics are debetable both look great but imo cod3 is overall better. Online is a HUGE improvment from cod3 and even though Resistance supports 40 people I in the end don't think that the number of people really matter that much. Cod3 has about a 10 hour campaign with nice cutscenes and gameplay. Sound is great and there is a huge variety of weapons. R:FOM I haven't played but that's just what I think.

It's a minimal difference. 0.2. And it's for two games on two different systems. Heck, even if two games are on the same system, a 9.0 game is sometimes declared better than a 9.3 game. It's a miniscule difference. It means absolutely nothing. >_>

COD3 got the score it did because it was a great game that improved upon COD2 so much that it warrented a higher score then Resistance, which is great, but overhyped.

I'll voice my opinion here by about wednesday when COD3 for PS3 comes in the mail.  I have Resistance and I really enjoy it.  We'll see.

Probably the reason why COD 3 is better is because it has a better story. Another thing is that even if I like the weapons in fall of man they can't beat realistic WWII weapons. And COD 3 look better in graphics than fall of man.

First off I have to say you come off like a weird weird fanboy in this thread and just simply bashing opinions against opinions.

But anyway... You say Hmmmmmmmmmm
Well first off it all means nothing to me anyway, all based on what you like and I liked COD3 a lot but I prefer smaller online like COD2.

But ya notice COD3 had 25 less reviews in"They Say" then R:FOM? HMMMM lol

Seriously Keywii in nearly every single thread you start I feel the damage control so strong with you. Why do you care about GS reviews so much. If you find R:FOM Better then COD3, good for you. Then thats your opinion. As is the reviewers opinion. I think your just trying to justify the PS3 because it still has no AAA games and seem to blame it on everyone else but the developers. GS has nothing to do with your problems and your systems problems at this point in time.

If you read both reviews the points you make are not supported. RFOM was called out for its mediocre visual design, derivitive gameplay and its lack of online options.

But hey this is SW where opinion = fact.
