There's no doubt SOTC was one of the most influential games when it came to huge colossal boss fights and dreamy landscape art style. Many games have big boss fights but usually filled with QTE's, often very scripted or don't really feel like much of a challenge at all. But Horizon seems to be the first to bring back open world colossal fights with bodily weak points that can be taken down dynamically, where the player actually feels like they've exhausted and taken down a beast. Being a huge fan of SOTC this was the most refreshing game at E3 no doubt, a breath of fresh air from the current cinematic trend. Aside from the Killzone SF art style, this feels more like a Fumito Ueda game than The Last Guardian.

No. They're nothing alike on any level.

I think you mean it's SOTC 2.

Team ICO are not making TLG as a sequel to SOTC , but i can see Horizon in that light.

Lol I don't get the dismissal TLG is getting around here. Just wait until more is released, you'll know fine well it's an Ueda game. As for Horizon, I don't see what you mean. There are big creatures that you get to take down and in a completely different way.

After watching the E3 footage Horizon, looks like it's nothing like SotC on any lvl.

Naw they're not alike. Horizon actually looks like it'll be fun unlike Shadow of the Colossus.

Have you played ICO? If so, I really don't know why you would say something like that.

Shadow of the colossus was a big empty world with only bosses, Horizon will not be like that.

No, it's pretty simple to see you're just seeing big enemies in an open space and trying to draw a parallel, however they're nothing alike.

Shadow of the Colossus is built on being subtle (all while having giant monsters no less.)

Horizon looks fun, but it won't be subtle.

The 'boss fights' in Horizon seem to be lacking in depth. No way near SOTC. And when it comes to atmosphere, it's not that strong in Horizon.

from what i saw of it i actually got more of a monster hunter vibe from it. you have to think a bit more about what you are doing, when to attack and back off and so on.

You need to rewatch the footage and reanalyze your conclusion.

Looks like PS4 monster hunter more than anything. Not like that's a bad thing.

You might just be the only person on earth to come to that conclusion.

I hear a lot of talk about Horizon. Yet as far as I know, no one has actually played it beyond the developers.

Horizon: Zero Dawn, Extinction, Kingdom Rise, The Fall

The title isn't long enough.

And it's nothing like SOTC.
