Well it was all fun and games for Sony up to this point. Now the chinks in the armor are beginning to show, the red line of death, the horrendous 16 minute UI demo that looked childish compared to XBO, the broken promises again resurfacing as Driveclub PSN F2P exclusive looks to be delayed into 2014 leaving Sony with a completely ham and egger lineup compared to its direct competition Microsoft. Has it begun? Or is it just a bump in the road? Please discuss and I will surely pick the best answer...

I give the system 6 months.

of lifespan? the form factor is worrisome, or 6 months before you make a decision?

All of the stores near me are still accepting Xbox One preorders while all the stores are sold out of PS4 preorders. I also heard that there were more available preorders for PS4 to begin with than Xbox One. It's obvious that more people are interested in buying the PS4 than they are the Xbox One. With all the bad things I've heard about Kinect, the Xbox One controller, the lack of power, and all the last minute changes they had to make in order to become more like the PS4 after the reception at E3, I think the Xbox One will have a much rougher start. PS4 already has a ton of people wanting to buy the system and haven't had to change anything whereas Xbox One is frantically changing everything in hopes of trying to get people interested in the system.

yes we know its a 100 dollars cheaper, doesn't change the fact now that these really bad signs started to surface. Like I said, when the time comes, Sony isn't going to look so golden afterall. All that hiding isn't possible now. They are going to actually have to have the ps4 in the wild, and im sure we might be hearing about hw failures, redline of failures, etc and just shitty online and now sony fans are paying for it. Its been a nightmare for Microsoft so far, so lets not try and deflect, has the Nightmare begun for PS4???? I think sooo, dat broken promise....

What are the PS4 failures and bad signs?

The nightmare of the PS4 will continue once it faces the Wii U's holiday lineup! THEN SPRING, THERE WILL BE BLOOD!

#12 Edited by monsterpuncher (146 posts) -

1. The lack of ads in the PS4 UI already makes it better than the xbone UI. The minimalistic and straightforward look makes it even more appealing too #teamPS4UI...

To boot the PS4 UI is much faster and more responsive, and thats all that matters. Its just a UI at the end of the day. LOL at how thats all the xbone has going for it- the UI. Shows how pathetic the xbone is.

2. Killzone is all I need for launch!

Killzone alone >>>>> the whole xbone launch line up.

Plus there is Knack!

At least Knack is different and a breath of fresh air.

It sure beats another zombie game, Dead Rising 3, or a generic linear scripted QTE hack and slasher in Ryse

Also, there are still all those PS4 indie games!

I will have more then enough games to play on my PS4!

Its nothing but the couple miserable xbots left on the sinking xbone ship who keep trying to make any little thing out there the bad PS4 news they have been hoping for since the xbone has been complete shit, with Microsoft f*ck up after Microsoft f*ck up and all etc

PS4 STILL WINNING...and dominating in pre-orders!

(Also crazy how no one was really hyping up Drive Club, but now that it could possibly be delayed, suddenly its a big deal...and the PS4 will just not be able to have a good launch without it)

The trolling is so transparent. Pathetic!

If rumors are to be believed about the delay, then at least Evolution will now have the time to make Drive Club as great as possible.

PS4 gamers then get a great racing game early next year for the PS4 to go alongside Infamous, and Infamous is the most legit next gen game announced so far

Things are looking good for the PS4, and to boot, Sony still has a lot more games to announce for it. It will get even better!

People who buy consoles for launch titles are extremely short sighted and ignorant.

Look at the long term picture. Sony has the much better exclusive library and exclusive developers. Sony is much more willing to take risks. Sony puts out a lot more games and at much more variety to boot. Take all that into account. Playstation exclusives will continue to dominate in every way like they did through out all of this gen

I mean the 360 supposedly had a strong launch, and LOOK at it now, in comparison to the PS3 in exclusives LOL. The 360 has had an utter pathetic and laughable exclusive library since 2009 (just the same old boring repetitive lackluster Gears/Halo/Forza sequels released year in and year out) That should tell you EVERYTHING you need to know about buying based on launch line ups.

Buy based on hardware, features, PROVEN HISTORY....By every precedent the PS4 is magnitudes better then the xbone.

PS4 has better hardware for less money, better GAMING features, and Sony has proven to be better supporters of their consoles.

Its PS4 all the way in every respect!

I dont see how any one could call themselfes a gamer and yet opt for the weaker more expensive xbone instead. I wont even get into all the MANY things wrong with the xbone (kinect spycam, apps behind pay walls just to start) The fact is PS4 does everything better for less and IS MORE FOCUSED ON GAMES and on being a GAMING CONSOLE.

Thank you for the PS4 Sony:) Day ONE!

Fu*k the xbone for life though no matter what!

I too want him to clarify. PS4 "failures" and "bag signs" is not a good enough explanation.

#14 Edited by norm41x (669 posts) -

This is why we don't buy at launch and why we wait for the next revision of the model. PSOne, PS2 and PS3 Slim all worked better than the "Phats" . Same with the PSP2000-3000. Though the PS4 Slim will probably again take away backward compatibility, I have no issue playing my games on their native consoles. I still have my PSOne and PS2 hooked up since they use the same power and video cables.

#15 Edited by Trail_Mix (2021 posts) -

The only issue you've stated is with DriveClub, and the delay hasn't even been confirmed by Sony yet, if ever.

Everything else is folly.

@monsterpuncher:

I agree with a lot of what you said, especially the part where it's stupid to buy a system for launch titles. That said, I think Killzone Shadow Fall looks better than any 360 launch game.

I would much rather base my decision on which has more powerful hardware. Launch titles are something that will be forgotten soon, whereas hardware is something you will have to deal with for the entire generation. By the time Xbox One owners have lost their 100th multiplatform head to head comparison on Digital Foundry to the superior PS4, they are going to not even remember these launch titles existed. Not to mention, it's not like one system has far superior launch titles over the other anyways. With the Xbox one performing worse graphically and at a lower resolution, it's going to be a real domination of PS4 over Xbox One.

I mean, just look at how this generation turned out. The PS3 still ended up superior over the 360 because of exclusives, even when the 360 had a lot of superior multiplats. The PS4's multiplats aren't going to be slightly better than the Xbox One's counterparts like the 360's advantage was over the PS3, oh no. The PS4 will be vastly superior in the multiplatform department. Combine that with better exclusives, and I really don't see how the Lems will be able to handle it. Combine that with the fact that Kinect will eventually become a main focus and they're going to have a $500 paper weight, a paper weight that they're going to wish was a PS4.

LAWLS!

yup Things just keep getting worse.

Even this guy from GS makes it clear the ps4 is a waste of money ATM

To be fair to Microsoft and the Xbone, Microsoft is marketing their console in many different aspects, trying to capture several markets. (TV, Sports, Games, Movies, Kinect [Motion Control] ). I think this is spreading the Xbone way to thin in terms of marketing. I believe Sony had a goal and a plan from the very start of developing the PS4 while Microsoft had a couple goals in mind, but lost their way in terms of PR and making bad decisions like required internet connectivity, blocking used games (pre-owned fee) and so on. As a result, Microsoft needed to switch directions drastically and ultimately hurt the success of the Xbone. The Xbone feels like a mis-mash of ideas thrown into a box without thinking how to fully utilize them effectively. It was a mess from the start, while it seems that Sony knew exactly what they wanted to do and planned accordingly.

you can't find either system around me able for pre order. Then again Sony did come out and said they are withholding ps4 supply from pre orders. They claim they want the system be able to people when released... Which to me sounds highly stupid. While you have MS who came out saying they are producing more X1's then originally planed

mha. The x1/ps4 will sell more system by them self's in the first month then wii u combined over the year

#22 Posted by kingoflife9 (1987 posts) -

Honestly, if your looking for the best console RIGHT NOW, the X1 and Wii U has the ps4 beat RIGHT NOW, heck even the ps3 and 360 are better right now....but the ps4 IS the most powerful so it will shine in the future. And btw the red line of death thingy is not true.

#23 Posted by arkephonic (6239 posts) -

@k2theswiss:

Yeah, you're right. I didn't preorder the PS4, but I went to Fred Meyer and they said that they're expecting 35-40 consoles on day 1 but were only allowed to sell 10 preorders. I'm just going to go there when they open on the 15th and hope I get one.

I think I'm being fair and I agree with what you said. Microsoft has no real direction with the Xbox One. The worst part about it though is how they have backtracked and changed so many things so close to launch. They could not have been expecting the backlash at E3. No company goes to E3 expecting a backlash. Microsoft truly thought that their unveiling of the Xbox One was going to be received positively by gamers. It just touches on the fact that they're really out of touch with what gamers want. That's not just something you fix overnight. Their solution was to just copy and paste the PS4. That's not going to work for the entire generation.

Unfortunately, you are right TC. The ps4 is wayyyyyy overrated. Anybody that buys it day one, is wasting their time. Fact is, sony wasnt ready and the more delays, and crappy videos we see and will continue to see leading up to the release, proves my point.

So much truth has never been spoken! Brilliant post my brother!

You hit on something really potent too.

Microsoft has NO strategy in place, hence ALL the 180 reversals. Microsoft has done nothing but confuse with all the 180s:

-Is the xbone an entertainment device or not....are features still there or not...ok, so they removed always online and DRM at the last second due to losing pre-orders, but is it coming back (many are weary of that) etc etc etc.

Microsoft is in a terrible position all around with consumers.

On the other hand, Sony has had a clear consistent message from day one, that hey- we are for the gamer and here is what the PS4 is all about. Here are all the games. Here are all the gaming features etc.

Sony has been to the point-no PR non sense spewing like Microsoft.

Sony has just been spot on all around- with the price point and power-putting gamers first- showing off nothing but the games and gaming features etc.

Sony's genuine approach has obviously resonated far better with consumers - seeing as how the PS4 is dominatng in PRE ORDER sales.

In fact xbots have Sony to thank for the xbone being 10% better then it was before etc because Microsoft has been trying to play catch up to the PS4, and thats what has made the xbone what it is now......though no matter what, the xbone is the cheap knock off of a rolex. The PS4 is the rolex while being cheaper lol etc

There is NO POINT in the xbone even existing. It is just a weaker more expensive PS4, but except it has a Kinect spy cam tacked on and has a secondary focus on games.

How anyone can opt for the xbone instead makes NO SENSE.

Sony has the far better more prestigous exclusive library/exclusive developers. Sony's proven long term support of their consoles>>>Microsoft's history of shady short term support.

I mean when you objectively break it down. The xbone has NO ADVANTAGES OVER THE PS4.

The PS4 is vastly superior in every respect, plus the MAIN FOCUS of it remains on gaming.

Anyone who choses xbone over PS4 isnt a real gamer.

The PS4 is the only correct option for real gamers-significantly cheaper, signigicantly more powerful, much better exclusive developers and exclusive library, history of much better long term support, much more consumer friendly (its media apps arent hidden behind pay wall fees like on XBL for one)..

The fact Sony is willing to take much more risks on creative new IPs...the fact Sony has NEVER needed to do flip flop 180 because Sony has been with gamers FROM THE START...the fact the eye toy isnt being enforced like the Kinect is.... Etc etc etc...and I can keep going on and on...

There is no question about it....PS4 ALL THE WAY...I in fact will NEVER buy on xbone.

It's getting hard to tell who is more full of shit, Sony or MS. Both launches are looking less than average, although I am still looking forward to having some new tech to play with, even if there are very few games I am interested in.

Please don't delay Infamous Second Son.

Sony will win the launch period, no matter what, due to the cheaper price.

A $100 difference is a very important thing on console launch.

Haha what a cute response.

Don't worry though, the nightmare isn't forever... There's always next-next gen for you... Or get PC which is basically "Always gen" :D

Even IF Drive Club winds up getting pushed into 2014, I'll still have Killzone, CoD Ghosts, Madden and NBA Live 14 to keep me happy.

For me Sony cant do anything right! The PS2 was the last great Playstation console in my eyes! The way Sony handled the PS3 was a joke also, with the Uncharted games being the only good exclusives. Next gen is when I give up on Sony completely, as it'll the Xbox One and nothing else for me, it has the better exclusive games and loads of revolutionary new features, whilst the PS4 is just a shitty upgraded PS3. Sony have had their day, and Microsoft are the new kings of gaming now!

Lemmings are sad, as a hermit looking in, and someone that defended xbox before announcement. you are just fools lets be fair. everything still points regardless of starting lineup that the PS4 will be the longer term console. and that even with XBOX's initial game lead THEY ARE FKIN MEDIOCRE GAMES AND NOBODY CARES.

keep trying to justify your stupid choice, meanwhile the much higher ratio of PS4 buyers with common sense have made their choice. and the only market with a chance for Xbox is the US as you don't even have the UK this time.
