Not really. Gaming hasn't fully developed as an art form yet. One day, I'd like to think games could be remember on the same level as movies, music, etc. and have the same kind of impact. Maybe when we finally give FPSs a rest -_-

yeah, its mainly the action-adventure and rpg genre that has the detail in character emotion and story enough to make it almost a movie.

like mass effect or metal gear solid 4

to bad most games are just pure fps action with story, character development, and interactions as a very minor part of the game.

That's why I don't give up on RPGs. Behind all the "spikey haired teen saves the world" junk are some true gems. Eternal Sonata is a good example. I'm also interested in Folklore. Some thought was actually put into the stories.

Isn't that a good thing? I mean a story is good but it shouldn't get in the way of the gameplay.

No but FFX was the most emotional game I've played. Some parts of FFVII stand out too. I think games have rivalled movies for emotion at times, for sure.

There was this story of this kid, who got his mother into animal crossing, and she played it all the time, and he kinda lost interest in it while she still played. His mom became sick and eventually died, but then like a year later, he turned the game on, and he saw that his message box was full of birthday presents and i love you cards from his mom. Im gonna be honest, i started balling,

i dont do the story justice though youd have to see the video

God damn have you heard of spoiler tags? I'm on my first time playing and you just ruined it! ;_;

As for whether a game has made me cry, no. A movie? No. TV Show? Yes. I cried when my favorite main character died in Lost.

Cry? No. Feel emotionally connected to the story and feel sad? Certainly. The middle of Valkyria Chronicles... I'll say no more.

I cried a lot during one specific moment in Valkyria Chronicles. Those who have played know what I mean. I didn't cry during the end of MGS3, but I was pretty darn close.
