Not too sure how I feel about it. It seems like it's only going to add to the excessive mayhem.

I hope that Halo: Reach has limit numbers of players can using jetpacks at once. It's would be annoy to see people keep spamming with jetpacks like bunch of birds.

Can we stop with jetpacks are nothing new. So no shooter game can use guns in the last 15 years because Wolfenstein used them first with the way the TC thinks since guns are nothing new.

The 1st shooter I ever played with a jet pack was Hero on the Atari 2600. It was actually a Heli pack. That was 1 of the best games for the 2600 vcs. Hopefully its implemented well in Halo Reach.

Jetpacks are just one of many parts of equipment. Other ppl may prefer invisibility and others. Im pretty sure all equipment parts will be pretty balanced, gameplay wise

Coincidentally Crackdown 2 also added jet-packs - I'm thinking I'll like it in both games. :P

Yes, duke had a jetpack...

But Tribes put a team of up to 64 players (Starsiege Tribes had support for up to 128 players !!!) with jetpacks, on a map with 2 bases and 2 flags... And mayhem ensued.

seriusly, Tribes was some of the best MP i have ever played :D

But Halo: Reach seems to just want to copy tribes with some parts. You have packs (as far as i understand, you have fixed upgrades like Tribes's backpacks), jetpacks and Halo and Tribes both take its gameplay from the classic FPS's (Quake, UT) so in the end Halo: Reach will probably have a very Tribes like gameplay with jetpacks.

Who cares if jetpacks are nothing new. What shooter on the ps3 has done something new? Yeah that's what I thought. Jetpacks in a Halo game automatically makes it better than all the shooters.

Why are people focusing so much on the jetpacks? Realize something. It's replacing the super jumps that EVERYONE has, and putting it as an option for those that want it. So now, not everyone is gonna be jumping around like morons constantly. I don't get what the big deal is.

I think it's a great idea. From what I can tell, it's just the armor ability form of a Gravity Lift equipment. It's just a bit better maneuvarability wise, and length in the air wise.

If it's anything like the Jet pack / heli pack you receive in the Ratchet & Clank series, Idon't think it'll be prone to balancing issues. Just add some restrictions and you're good to go.

so halo reach is a prequel to the halo trilogy right? Why does this game have invisibilty and jetpacks if they arent present in the trilogy that takes place after? hopefully they explain the reason for that

itis in the halo trilogy but im assuming oyu mean the multiplayer? the only one it wasnt present in is halo: ce. anyways reach was destroyed with no traces of anything left on the planet (except glass of course). Halo: CE can essentially be a start from scratch especially since theres only one spartan in it...

Jetpacks are Equipment. What does that mean?

How Equipment is being done in Reach is that you first have to acquire it. Then you can use it for the short time before it has to recharge. So what does that mean?

Don't expect people to be flying around on their Jetpack the entire match.

actually it seems like a lot less equipment than the backpacks in Red Faction Guerrilla (unless they happen to add a vision, and thrust pack, I'll let them slide on several of the destruction packs). That reminds me that this game is totally underrated.

That's a bit farfetched. Though coming from the guy who said that GTA SA should be rereleased with NO upgrades except framerate, I'm not surprised.
