Halo 4 dropped from MLG like hot garbage: BLOPS2 superiority confirmed

Recently, Halo games have become increasingly less viable as a competitive title at the highest levels. Starting with Reach, the inclusion of armor abilities like jetpack and armor lock changed the game in fundamental ways that were too big to ignore.

Halo 4 went a step further. Though they scaled back a few of the armor abilities, they still exist and mess around withpivotalyimportant parts of competitive Halo like line of sight. At top levels, players used to know where anyone could be on a map, where they could hit them from, and where they were likely to run to, but give them a jetpack and suddenly all that knowledge goes out the window.

The real problem with Halo 4 is that it introduced more randomness than ever into multiplayer gameplay. That might be perfectly fun for regular players, many of whom were proud to announce Halo was back! with last years new game, but its vastly different from how Halo used to function for pros

Looks like the honeymoon period of Halo 4 is over. 343 blew it and Halo succumbed to CoD.

From what I hear 1.6 is still the best/ No point getting with the times if the older version is better.

Then again I've never played a CS game in my life, despite loving FPS games. CS is intimidating

#7 Posted by MacBoomStick (1822 posts) -

Nothing is more random than levels and unlocks, perk systems, and kill streaks.

#8 Posted by PhazonBlazer (11994 posts) -

As an MLG gamer I can confirm this. Halo 4 takes no skill.

#9 Posted by Link3301 (1857 posts) -

It's funny because CoD takes less skill than Halo,v as well as pretty much every other tactical or arena shooter.

1.6 is still the best competitive-wise. MLG will always be for the brogamers until they start putting some actual competitive games in there. Only game I respect in there is SC II, and yet not even the top players compete on it.

lol @ halonabs saying MLG is a joke, Halo is a joke, MLG is as big as it's ever been, they got their act together, they focus on games like Starcraft and League of Legends now.

People that dismiss esports don't realize how fast and hard it's growing, and the future will only become more digital, more virtual, it's keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Season 2 LoL finals had like 8 million viewers total, that's just insane, it's mroe then a lot of sporting events. LoL alone has more people watching streams on a daily basis then playing Halo online. Think about that for a second.

And before you ignorant nerds start calling people that like esports nerds rememebr where you are and what you're hobby is. Anyone that's ever been seriously addicted in a competitive game has always enjoyed watching the best of the best play said game.

you cant be serious. So the game isn't good because of this? Well then all the other shooters that Halo got the nod over for so long must have sucked by that logic. Sounds more like, "I need to hate this game and now I can show everyone I was right"
#17 Posted by Pug-Nasty (8508 posts) -

Halo has auto aim like COD, both should be dropped.TheGuardian03

The aim assist is the same for everyone, thus it does nothing to limit the competitveness of the games. Black Ops II, however, has lag in split screen as well as over LAN. There is advantage/disadvantage time travel lag built into the game because Treyarch are incompetent.

#18 Posted by madsnakehhh (15219 posts) -

Lol @ Modern FPS on MLG, we all know MLG is about LOL and StarCraft, even fighters who are way more viable than Halo and CoD had a hard time against StarCraft and LOL, so is not surprise that Halo 4 is out, CoD remains since they need something to entertain the occasional Bro Gamer who finds out about MLG.

MLG is so lulz its extreme. i swear if anyone takes them seriously they should seriously stop pretending to watch e-sports.

real e-sport circuts are a sight to behold MLG is simply a trendy videogame clsoed circut ladder with mildly experienced players with enough money and friends to get a set of teams togeather.

you want to see real e-sports go watch some battlecast primetime, go watch some GW2 ladder matches or go watch some dreamhack youtube video's for quakelive.

So basically Halo 4 makes people try to adapt to new challenges and stops a 1 way system type gameplay. Honestly this has to be the biggest pile of **** I have ever seen that relates to anything being "pro". Why shouldn't there be more things to contend with that can effect the game? Truely embarrasing.

Sure, that's why you go to GS e-sports page and there isn't many comments on the articles. Then they spam the front page to try and get views and all they get are ticked off people that don't give a crap.

The reason no one takes MLG seriously is because of the influence that sponsors have over the games. Sony sponsored the tourney and all of a sudden Resistnace 2 was there, and COD was played on PS3. MadCatz and now some players use those controllers, etc.

Not on the same level. Sponsoring in pro sports doesnt have the same influence as these MLG sponsors seem to have. MLS teams dont play semi pro teams just to boost fan base or ratings. (why was resistance 2 in MLG? Why dont players all have to use the same equipment/controllers?)

To be fair, nobody comes to GS to watch E-Sports, you should try Spooky Team on TwichTV for fighters and GomTV or NASL TV for Starcraft 2, at least that's what i follow, viwers numbers never hit the millions, but they alwaus have a consistant audience that allows the crew and the players to continue, is not as big as i would liked to be, but is no joke either.
