So much for the PS4 being a super beast machine that can do 1080p with 60fps with ease and it being a standard.

Still a fine looking game.

I'd prefer 720p60 over 1080p30.

People will learn to develop better on the thing you know... see Uncharted vs Uncharted 3... or COD2 vs Halo 4/Killzone 3.

I'm sure they can make the game run at 60 fps but they are gonna have to cut back on the graphics.

For online I would too but for singleplayer it doesn't matter too much since it's not really a super fast paced game.

all that power: wasted, by Sony's own 1st party. Pretty sad, tbh.

I'd rather it be 720p @ 60 fps. Since getting back into PC gaming, framerate has become a priority over resolution.
#15 Posted by XVision84 (13793 posts) -

Who expected it to be 60fps? It can obviously do 1080p 60fps, but some devs would rather make it 30fps and fit in more effects.

They wouldn't do that.

The difference between the two would be massive.

I lost my hype when I heard there was only 1 single player offline

Yeah, the difference between 30 and 60 fps is quite large.

I thought the PS4 was going to be able to do 1080p & 120fps. The way Cows were talking about how much more powerful it was then a PC, is should be able to do this with ease. What's going on?

Just some cow hyperbole.

I'm sure PS4 is going to be a capable gaming machine, but I doubt it would cost more than two dollars of PC to best one dollar of PS4 in terms of visuals.

i doubt it will have much better visuals than the x1 as well.

The PS3 was going to be capable of dual 1080p @ 120fps in 4D... and we got ~720p @ 20-30fps in 3D. The only reliable way to get 1080p@60fps or better is to buy a PC.

It is always amazing to me that so many people still don't understand that frame rates are down to developer choice not hardware limitations. Helpful hint: Many Dreamcast games ran at 60fps.

Jesus that's old news by now :?

Have any of you guys played the previous KillZone games?  The franchise doesn't exactly play like Counterstrike.

Some of you are being noobs.

I agree and disagree with what you're saying. I'd say it like this:

The hardware has limitations. The devs must work within those limitations. Devs can make choices for example sacrifice shadow quality or effects for higher frame rates.

#30 Posted by IshmaelSonata (979 posts) -

Short answer: the Ps4's power isn't being used yet. The following analysis explains it in detail

http://www.redgamingtech.com/killzone-shadow-fall-demo-post-mortem/

- only using 5 operation threads

- only using 4.5 gb of memory

- alpha build deliberatedly locked to 30 fps

for these reasons, the current killzone shadowfall demo is by no means an indication of the PS4's capabilities or shadowfall as a finished product.

Well obviously it's down to the developer, but if they were to choose 60fps the graphics would have to be cut back. Guerrilla can't just be like "With this switch, we can make the game be constant 60fps and the graphics won't change at all! But we won't do that because 30fps offers a more cinematic experience"
#32 Posted by TheFadeForever (1830 posts) -

Its using pc architecture and hardware making it easier to develop games and still not capable of dishing out 60fps/1080p :x

God. You're so obsessed with the **** cows. Newsflash: fanboys say stupid shit. We don't have to **** repeat it in every thread.

Of course it's a compromise, that's the developers choice and it's the same choice they have been making for years, but for some reason people still use frame rates as a point of comparison for hardware. Both the Xbox One and the PS4 are capable of 1080p and 60fps in any given game, it's entirely down to the priorities of the developers. Wipeout was 1080p and ran at 60fps on the PS3, that doesn't mean that the PS3 is more powerful than the PS4. I know it's stating the obvious but many people genuinely don't seem to grasp that.

Meh. So long as 30fps is the minimum, I'm happy.

Interesting read. Surprised they're not using compute at all though. That's really strange. :/

Wait, a launch title isn't going to look as good as future titles? MIND BLOWN :o

And here I thought Resistance: Fall of Man was the best looking PS3 game. :P

#39 Posted by DontGetBigIdeas (233 posts) -
Launch game on new hardware. People need to keep that in mind for all three systems. Remember when Oblivion blew people's minds? Go compare it to Skyrim...
#40 Posted by SaltyMeatballs (25150 posts) -
PS4 is more powerful than Xbone, just a fact.
#41 Posted by kipsta77 (1014 posts) -

which means multiplats are either 720p/60fps/30fps.

Whats new?

Yeah I hope we don't get the same shit as this gen where games end up running at like 20FPS by the end. That was horrible.

Buy PC to play Killzone?
#45 Posted by scoots9 (3203 posts) -

Wasn't expecting 1080p/60 on next gen consoles. My TV can only do 1080i anyway, which is limited to 30fps.

#46 Posted by Ghost120x (3913 posts) -
Nothing new. Console devs will always aim to make their games look pretty no matter how powerful the system is. That is because pretty graphics sell. You barely hear reviewers talk hype about fps, but they will go on, and on about how gorgeous a game looks.

I thought this was obvious enough.

If that's your main pc in your sig I'm quite surprised to hear you say that.

They're most likely opting for more detail instead of 60 frames, and holy shieeeet at the detail

#50 Posted by Wasdie (50001 posts) -

Guerilla said that awhile back. They are basically still learning the system and are still pushing it as hard as they can so they've decided on a nice stable 30 fps. Makes sense.

Not like 60 fps would radically improve the feel of a Killzone game.
