"Reckon you’re going to be playing GTA 5 on PC, PS4 or Xbox One this Christmas? You may want to think again.

There was plenty of chatter of a next-gen slip of GTA 5 at gamescom. We were told Rockstar did have the new versions at the show, but it was only being seen by retailers.

“Fall 2014″ on PS4, Xbox One and PC? Unlikely. Watch the video.

GTA 5 was announced for a 2014 released on PC, Xbox One and PS4 back at E3 - but didn't appear at this month's Gamescom show in Germany.

Now there are rumours it's actually been delayed until next year.

VG247 reports that "plenty of chatter" was heard at Gamescom that the game was actually scheduled to appear in the first half of 2015 at the earliest.

Of particular note was the absence of the game from Sony's press conference, despite it being a big feature of the E3 equivalent.

We've also seen no marketing or PR news out of Rockstar, despite the fact that the game should - if it remains on track - be out in a couple of months.

Take-Two's Strauss Zelnick told MCV at the time that any delay would be a result of quality control:

"We really are driven by our passion for the business,” he told MCV. “I know it sounds hard to believe from capitalists, which we also are, but what keeps us up at night and gets us here early in the morning and makes us excited, is that we pride ourselves on making the best interactive entertainment in the business."

Either way, we won't know for sure until Rockstar make a decision and a statement, or the game actually comes out."

Just stop!!

I actually don't care about this one. I have my PS3 copy and that's good enough for me. Sadly, I've been finding modern day open box games to be rather dull the last few that have come out. I will say that GTA V is basically the best in the series though... but I enjoy the 80s theme in Vice City still.

Just add Max Payne 3's gun wound effects and give me M/KB controls and I'm ready to gogo! Shouldn't take that long to do :)!

Vice was the best in the series.

Thematically, probably yes, at least it is for me. Gameplay wise, all the newer ones surpassed it.

I'm glad all these games are getting delayed, it was ridiculous how they were trying to pack all these games into fall. October was way too packed and still is despite a couple of delays.
