GTA V Will Have Perks on PS4 (GTA 5 PS3 Outsold 360)

This is going to be vague, but it's too intriguing not to share. During my interview with PlayStation's North American marketing v.p., John Koller, we were talking about exclusive perks for PlayStation 4 owners for multi-platform games and we got to the topic of GTA V.

We'd just discussed how Activision and Bungie's Destiny game, which is also coming to Xbox platforms, is getting an exclusive alpha and early beta on PlayStation.

We'd just discussed how, according to what a Ubisoft rep had told me, there won't be exclusive PlayStation content for Assassin's Creed Unity, which is a break from the norm.

And then we got to Rockstar's baby, GTA V. Sony had announced on Monday night that the new-gen version of the 2013 Xbox 360 and PS3 game was coming to PS4. A Rockstar press release later indicated the new high-res version would be coming to Xbox One and PC this fall as well:

Koller: I don't think we announced anything publicly on that, but there will be. I think GTA V is a title that did extremely well on the PlayStation 3. In fact... the index rate...—the index rate is the amount of people who purchase one platform or the other relative to the install base—it swung well in PlayStation's favor for GTA V, a lot of it because of the partnership we had with Rockstar. We would expect that to happen here, too. GTA is a PlayStation franchise. It started with us. We really feel strongly that it belongs as a key platform driver for us.

Kotaku: You're saying that you can't say what it is, but that there will be something special for PlayStation owners?

Koller: GTA V is going to be, I think, a title we'll talk about more in the weeks and months to come, but GTA V and the GTA franchise is something that will be something very special on PlayStation.

the real GTA was gta 3. If it remained a top down pc game it would disappear into obscurity like 99.99999% of all the other pc games. pc sucks shit.

I guess he means GTA as we know it today was on playstation but GTA started on PC. Either way who cares. I'll most likely get it on PC but might get it on PS4 if it's at 60fps.

It truly brings a tear to my eye seeing how much Rockstar cares about the Playstation family. You can't buy this kind of love now a days, you must earn it. And thats exactly what sony did, they earned it. Took 'em in when nobody else would. Just like Morris Chestnut did with Little Bow Wow. oh my god i think i'm going to cry, the feels are too stronk. It started on PC, but PlayStation is where the franchise became a huge commercial success. All Grand Theft Auto games in the franchise have been released on PlayStation systems.

Apparently Rockstar has no reason to make expansions without MS shelling them out money. How are they going to release a definitive next gen version with at least developing some meaty DLC packs?

Meh. On PC we will get all the mods... those "perks" that they might give on PS4 will be easily modded to PC as well heh.

When GTA 1 was first released on PC, Rockstar didn't even thought of it being on consoles. It was only later when they saw the potential.

Also, mods+video editor > whatever DLC shit for the PS.

Special perks? I see it being a T-shirt for you MP character that's got PS4 on it.

On DOS it wasn't even windows,then it was ported to windows and PS,but it was planned for several platforms including the n64 and Saturn but failed to make it there,i think the saturn got a version latter one it was never made to be an exclusive.

Years ago i was working at a company that only worked a half day on fridays so i used to get home just after dinner and throw GTA into my ps1 for a few hours, even to this day i get a smile when i think of driving over the elvis convention LOLOL.

Way to go R*, you know PS4 and SONY is on a ROLL this gen and the best place to play a multiplat. Thanks for recognizing the superior hardware and mind set of SONY.

I just want for my saved file on my PS3 to be synced to the PS4 version, cuz Im not gonna play the game all over again.

I just bough and finished GTA5 a month ago, and I hated how much driving you have to do.

Eh, X gamers are not as easily fooled. I never bought the 360 version Knowing a next gen version would be on it's way. :P

Interesting but I'm not buying this game again, GTA 5 was a bit disappointing IMO. After you beat the game all the side missions disappeared and the online was a broken mess. Watch Dogs and Infamous Second Son are far superior open world games IMO.

Also who cares if it sold more on PS3? Does it make your gaming experience better? Do you get a stock percentage? Come on now......

Rockstar are divas, why didn't the show anything about the game to the press or the fans in attendance? The game is old, and isn't a keep it under wraps release at this point.

I'm excited for the game since I didn't get it for ps3 or 360, but enough is enough. Stop treating it like its the biggest release of 2014.

They are talking about the PS2 era 3D driver style GTA games which were hugely successful... the only thing is has in common with the older top down ones is the name and the some of the team.

I don't need a massive live demo or anything. I wasn't asking for a on stage presentation either. Show me why I should consider this game over newer & exciting releases.

Odd how sheen's bitch about parity at microsoft yet it doesn't seem to be present if this is to be believed....also of note since Sheen's maintain that the ps3 dominated the 360 all gen long in sales the whole claim of relative install base sales would have to be a lie according to sheen's since as I said they maintain the ps3 outsold continually and by a large amount the 360...the only way his claim could be true is If sheen's admit the sales domination wasn't true.....

Another thing since I cannot find any official numbers attributed to any one system by take two, or rockstar and we only have vgchartz claims of course A sony rep is going to say a multiple sold more on his companies system...it would seem the answer that laying off 10k+ employee's, and selling off every property Sony owns, selling off their pc arm, square enix shares, is affording them alot of money to pay off developers and publishers with.....odd how during the original xbox generation to sheen's that was evil.....
