GTAV. I thought IV was beyond boring, I never bothered finishing it.

V is a much, much better game.

IV is nearly unplayable and has aged terribly in such a short period of time. Even when it released, the shooting, driving, and character movement were all off. I understand what they were going for, but they missed their mark. They ended up nailing all of those things in V though.

It's been awhile, but I do think I liked the (main) mission design better in IV, which is one thing it has over V. I'd say it also has a better story and the "moral" choices were something I think it did well.

V has a better world, looks loads better, plays 10x better, has better side stuff, and everything feels more alive.

If IV played like V, then I think I would have liked it more than it's successor, but it's really hard to overlook the core gameplay.

It's strange how quickly people turned on Rockstar for GTAV's minor mishaps. The game IMO is a technical marvel. With the hardware used, i'm always amazed now well it plays, and how nice it looks. I'm not even a GTA fanboy, i'm definitely a huge Rockstar fan though. IV was great but I felt very underwhelmed. I had to warm up to the game. The graphics looked like crap when i'd walk out of my first apartment, and then Niko felt dull.

GTAV wins IMO. I think the general public should slow down the amount of trailers, and content they watch or read on games/movies. It ruins your hype drastically.

GTA 5 is at least a good videogame. 4 is an overstuffed shit barrel.

GTA 4 had the better story and characters, GT5 had the better gameplay, shooting mechanings, cover mechanings, world, side missions, and way more fun to be had.

Not to mention GT Online is miles above GTA 4.

Id take GTA 5 any day over 4, but Brucie is the best character. They shouldve put him in 5

IV was utter shit and a step backwards after San Andreas. Hell even Vice City was more enjoyable.

GTAV: I liked the online, the gameplay, the mechanics. The story was decent.

GTAIV: The story was long af and a bit bland at times, but I really enjoyed it still because ALOT more of my friends, and online gaming community gathered on that game. To the point where for the first time in my gaming for the PS3 gen I had ALL of my friends in a 16 player server. But, I never had that for GTAV. Tbh GTAIV and the other episodes were more of a joy ride for me mainly because of my social network. The online gaming was not bad. It was arcade like and it still had awesome modes. I felt like the online was focused a good bit in certain areas. With GTAV, it was so big they just tossed everything everywhere kinda. So I have mixed emotions about both. Tbh, GTAV's online mode is honestly incomplete. They took everything out and are still putting everything in.. So it was a turn off for many.

GTA 4 was a solid good game back then, but even before GTA 5 was even release it had aged so bad.

I was playing GTA 4 3 weeks ago to get ready for GTA5 (I just got GTA5 4 days ago). And it felt like a really shitty game. Been playing GTA5 now, only 40% of the way, and its seriously really fucking impressive. I wasnt hyped for GTA5 and wasnt impressed by the trailers or reviews (thats why it took me so long to get the game), but i am kinda blown away. Its 100X better than GTA4 in EVERY SINGLE WAY!

The only thing i find annoying is the cops and how Hard they are to get rid off and how constantly they show up. I hate it how when you fire a gun every one knows your exactlocation instantly (even when you kill a pedestrian with a suppressor). The cops and their ability to instantly track you down is so annoying and it constantly wastes alot of your time.

I would rank BOGT best if it had the vehicle physics of V but driving is garbage in IV.

I really like the silliness of characters in the BOGT, I found there is a serious lack of silly characters in GTA V, apart from Trevor

Back to GTA- 5 literally feels a generation ahead of 4 in visuals and performance (slight hyperbole but the improvement is staggering). Technically speaking it's the number 1 game on gen 7 consoles. I hardly encounter jaggies, screen tear, framerate drops, pop-in or any of the ugly stuff we get in open world games. God knows how they pulled that off. Better setting/bigger world, better controls, better gunplay, bigger weapon selection, better activities, checkpoints during missions, the 3 protagonist thing works, rampages are back, a MOTHERFUCKING BLIMP, you can kill animals if that's your thing, generally much more to do and I'm not close to finished. Only major complaint is the determination of the police. Above 2 stars and you're just not gonna lose them in the city area.

maybe it's because i played gta iv on pc and gta v on consoles that i think it's the opposite, gta iv on pc looks miles ahead of gta v, the only great improvement of gta v was the checkpoints, i always hated repeating long missions in gta iv.

I'm waiting on the next gen version of gta5. I thought gta4 was a big fat piece of crap, though. It was way too repetitive. Friends tell me that gta5 makes things fresh again and improves control.

That sounds about right. IV on consoles looks like something I stepped in. Something I stepped in when I was heavily drunk and couldn't see straight.

Half of IV's mission bored me and the game has aged pretty badly tbh.

Frankly, GTA V is just an tiny upgrade to me. IV gave us a good cover system, and it deserved the praise it got at the time. Even if it was not open, you could do vigilante missions and take on quite a few jobs. Also, playing the mini games with friends was fun. V is seriously overrated. Just look at that metacritic score. I know the same can be said about 4, but come on. At least that game had more side content in its separate stories in the dlc. V failed to build on any of that.

I dont doubt that vanilla GTA 5 is a far, far better game than vanilla GTA 4. Vanilla GTA IV is an ugly, horribly drab game but it's one of, if not the best looking open world when modded+ Real cars+ More weapons etc. It really does make the vanilla version look like shit.

Owning a console and only being able to play the vanilla versions of Skyrim, New Vegas and GTA IV is pretty tragic. Best open world games when modded, imo.

I must agree with some of the earlier sentiment wrt GTA IV though. There are some things that mods cant fix and the game itself lacks the charm of earlier GTA titles across the board.

I liked 4 a tiny bit better because of the story & the characters, V's story was terrible & characters were very forgettable, if it focused on Michael & his family it could have been good, but they had to put in Trevor to appeal to edgy teens & Franklin to appeal to blacks, which ruined it
