GS Ryse review: 4.0 - KEEP ALL RYSE DISCUSSION HERE

Now that the scores are out, I gotta admit, I am torn here.

The main reason I wanted Ryse to flop was for selfish fanboy reasons. Because in all honesty, I love the Roman theme and was really hoping this would turn out to be an amazing game. It really was the only game (so far) that had me interested in an Xbox One. I am not saying that the Xbone has bad launch games, they are just not to my tastes....but Ryse was.

Oh well. I will still get an Xbox One down the line and will be able to pick up Ryse for very cheap. This way I can't feel too stupid for wasting full price on it.

And BTW Shawn, I really do hope you enjoy the game.

lol at all the lems portending to like racing sims. So what it got a 9/10....I doubt you will buy it. If you do, I doubt you will play it. Forza sells decent numbers at the most. We all know the realist Racing Sim on a console is GT. But even then Im not going to brag about it because I don't care for Racing games.

The launch games for both consoles are bad. But what I look at is the first party devs each company has. And that my friends, sony destroys M$. Hell, even the PS3 has more games then the 360 with it being a year behind. Imagine what the PS4 will do?

The cutscenes ARE FMV....... And Gameplay goes below 20 Frames. This is worst than the 4. Forza looks like Sh... compare to the E3 build. What a bad Joke Microsoft.

So, PS4s and Xbones big action games both flopped. I was right to go with PC, WiiU and 3DS: so many awesome games to play I can wait a few years before getting a PS4.

Thing about Lair is that no one saw that coming. Press release prior to the reviews were mostly positive.

Funny thing about Ryse though is that even in the face of all the negative reveals, some people were incident on continuing to hype it.

I can't say I'm shocked.

When it was revealed the game used all of 2 attack buttons, I knew it was headed for the garbage bin.

CryTek, ONCE AGAIN, makes tech demos, NOT games.

They want to sell the CryEngine, not the games they make with it.

Also Crytek, every decision you've made since Crysis Warhead has turned out bad. With your Kinect game Ryse and F2P games being the absolute worst decisions. Crytek, I remember you being a great developer once with Far Cry and Crysis, what happened ? :(

This ^. Lair was so shocking... But Ryse everyone BUT lemmings saw it coming.

Ryse pretends to be in the same genre of DMC, NG, GOW, Bayonetta, Vanquish etc but has sub- "Too Human" combat. OFCOURSE IT WILL FLOP!!

Not to mention the graphics in game are terrible and all crytek showed was cutscenes.

GS' review is a good bit lower than the metacritic average of 61, which is where I think we all predicted this game would ultimately land critically. It's not a great game, but it's not unplayably bad, either. It just is, and at least it's pretty.

I always thought gs scores only matter for hype game and the speed sheet. That's what casey said when he was mod at least. Can bring up any other score

I don;t care about MC either. I was just using MC to prove that ryse is probably better than lair.They scored the same on GS anyway.

MC can be used as a comparison tool, but you can not use it to own other fanboys. Other reviews can be compared to GS reviews for games, but you can not use these reviews to own other fanboys.

I feel a little bit like Ryse didn't get the Lair treatment, but more so got the Kane and Lynch treatment...

Well that settles it, no next gengen console is worth it for now. Guess I'll put that money towards a second videocard for my PC.

It's expected especially from E3 and the recent previews. I thought 6 would be the highest it would score here.

Yeah this is without a doubt the biggest flop I can recall. I had a feeling this game was going to be all media hype. The combat even at the E3 demo just looked way too scripted.

I knew that cut scenes had to be video. They looked far better then the actual game being played... Which looks like poop.

So is this further proof that the Quad just stomps the xbone when it comes to performance?

Ryse is the Xbox1's Killzone, not Knack, imo. Ryse and Killzone are both showcase titles who look great but are light on the game play. Ryse is lower than KZ on Metacritic, but not by much the last time I checked.
