Damn.. was hoping this would be the Bravely Default I get into. While I thought some aspects of the demo were cool (battles), I wasn't too keen on other aspects. It did seem a little too old school and bloated.

What do you think, SW? Will you be giving this game a chance?

I guess it's just like Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection where both games are Switch exclusives that are disliked by Gamespot but other websites love them. And both have old school difficulty gameplay.

Standard for the series.

The thing that made Bravely Default very memorable was the twist in the game. Hope they can still capture that in this game.

#edit: read the review and yeah standard for the series. Anyone played the previous games probably expected the summary and personally quite sad devs didn't try to improve on anything relating to character and plot.

It's like old school Gamespot is back, where they generally rated games 2 points lower than everyone else.

@judaspete: I liked it that way. Games - maybe well-worth playing - can be just "ok". Hate how reviews are so compressed and often poorly tracking the actual content of the written piece.

It could get a 1/10 from every single reviewer, sheep would still buy it.

No desire, I only liked the 3DS game for the 3D. But surely anybody who enjoys generic JRPGs will love this.

@SolidGame_basic: If it ever gets released on PlayStation or Xbox I will definitely check it out. I love hard RPGs and they are very rare nowadays. Final Fantasy and many other franchises are just dead easy.

Never played the first game as it looked like a generic JRPG standard to Square Enix's lack of evolving as a company.

Bravely Default II could have scored a 9 or even 10 out of 10 for all I care; and yet, I still would not have been interested.

I'm not surprised - the demo was pretty bland. The Square Enix name really isn't much of a sign of quality anymore.

I wonder if I should grab Atelier Ryza 2 instead.

A grind heavy hard JRPG with a job system so I can pick what my party is? That is exactly my type of game.

100% not for everyone.

100% for me.

In the first 2 game you can set encounter rate to very frequent and auto battle feature, which meant the grind for mastering the 20+ jobs is really simple. They removed both in this game and if you played prior games, its a noticable removal of feature. Hope Square at least updates the auto battle system here.

Yes. I do wonder why they would remove that system. It is a VERY odd choice. Will not prevent me from enjoying the game, but it is still a very poor choice.

I'm shocked a sequel to a game as tedious as the first game is tedious as shit.

Trash series.

That twist turned one of the most memorable RPGs in 2010s into a boring grind fest the rest of the way.

100%. I actually played up to final chapter (chapter 8) I think and all we get was the same damn ending but with bit extra spoiler for Bravely Second. Really wasted my time, should have just put down the game after beating it in Chapter 4 or 5.
