My friends - even though (obviously) a pc title such as "Divinity", or "Legends Of Grimrock", are clearly frontrunner in a year of mediocre console titles, chances are other staff members are casual console gamers compared to Kevin who will not even have touched these titles. These are the type of people who wear memes on there shirts and read what a teleprompter tells them to say.

That, coupled with pressure to use recognized title to appeal to the mainstream, ultimately makes whatever results, corrupt, unethical and overall: dubious.

A low point for humanity.

That PC list sort of made me sad since I haven't played any of those games save for Shadow of Mordor (on PS4).

Also, a demo took the spot of Forza Horizon 2, Destiny, and Sunset Overdrive.

Those xbox and playstation nominees are really similar

Sunset Overdrive is the only decent exclusive it had this year

Sad Persona Q didn't even make 3DS's GOTY, by far the most satisfying game for me so far. I mean, I get Super Smash Bros will most likely win I'd just like Persona Q to have been nominated. Also, Tomb Raider didn't even make the cut for the reissue section, disappointing.

Looks like Dragon Age Inquisition is sweeping a few of the awards. Sad to see Alien Isolation wasn't up for anything, loved that game. Maybe if they do another section of awards like best this and that then maybe I can see it being nominated.

I'm also really enjoying Dragon Age, but the power system is starting to annoy me. I need to grind 40 more points just to advance the story.

How the **** is The Last of Us nominated for best PS3 game when it came out for PS3 last year? It only released on PS4 this year

Yup, terrible nominees for platform GOTY. Lot of them aren't even exclusives and it makes head spin that how people are voting for Dragon Age as best "PC Game" and it is currently leading. It may be a good game but not a good "PC Game" . Seems like some of them are too stupid to realize that. And lol at PS4 nominees, not even a single exclusive. Yes, I know PS4 exclusives sucked this year but that doesn't mean they should put some random multiplats there. Same goes for Xbox One.

2014 was a great year.

pokemon ORAS, Smash U and 3DS, Mario Kart 8, Metro Redux, FAble anniversary, Divinity OS. Probably one of my favorite years to date gaming wise.

Remaster/reissue/remake category. Is it going to be norm?

Going by reception on this site I see DAI or Bayo winning GOTY. Anything els would be a big surprise.

I'm surprised DK Tropical Freeze got nominated in the Wii U category over Captain Toad.

I believe it's the GOTY edition re-released this year for the PS3 that includes all the DLC that is in the category.

The reason why Captain Toad isn't anywhere to be found is because they put together these awards before the year was done. These GOTYs are usually a joke because of this.

I have a huge problem with the PS4 and Xbox One nominees.

Why is Ground Zeroes a nominee for Xbox One but Sunset Overdrive and Forza Horizon 2 are not? They all scored 8's here but Ground Zeroes is more or less a demo. Not to mention that Ground Zeroes is also on Sony platforms. What is the point of having a "best of" list for each platform when you ignore the games that are exclusive to that platform?

Second, why is Infamous not a nominee but Destiny, a game that scored a 6 here is? That doesn't make much sense. And again why are they ignoring an exclusive title in a platforms "best of" list?

I'm very pleased that Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze was nominated for Wii U game of the year. Now lets hope it makes it into the overall game of the year nominations as it so rightfully deserves. Retro REALLY needs to get recognized for the masterpiece they've just created. However, I wouldn't be unhappy if Bayonetta 2 took home the prize. You'd be hard pressed to find a better hack n slash.

If Mario Kart 8 takes it, I'll probably just shake my head... It probably shouldn't even be nominated for best Wii U game in my books.
