I know it's the guy from The Witcher 2 who's going to reprise his role, but one can dream...

And I have a perfect suggestion: Michael Wincott who's actually Canadian, but never mind.

He is a fairly recognizable actor who had played major roles in movies like Alien Resurrection, Jim Jarmusch's Dead Man (with Johnny Depp, Lance Henriksen, Iggy Pop, John Hurt and others), The Crow, Strange Days, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Basquiat, Before Night Falls, The Doors, The Three Musketeers, and so on... and is going to play in the sequel to TV series 24: Live Another Day.

Anyway, he's also played in a fair share of video games, such as Halo 2 (Prophet of Truth), Darksiders 2 (Death) or Syndicate (Agent Jules Merit).

And it's the latter which is going to serve as a sample of his voice for you, fast forward to 6:55 and listen to it for a while, or fast forward to 21:40. His gravelly voice would be so good for Geralt! Of course in Syndicate he is very cocky, and he wouldn't be like that as the Witcher and his voice in Halo 2 or Darksiders 2 was way different, but this is closer to his default voice:

In the end, it's not going to concern me much since I'm going to play the superior, original Polish version. (Polish dubs are ALWAYS way inferior but The Witcher is the only exception).

They need to do something with Geralt because he is an awful protagonist in a game with an interesting world and characters.

@IgGy621985: I was thinking more Mads Mikkelsen. I know he isn't Eastern European but he has that exotic harsh sound and is a fine actor.

Not that Snatch bloke up there isn't a good choice too, I'm just used to seeing him in light hearted roles. "That's a nice coat!"

I didn't like Geralt's gruff American accent in Witcher 2. He almost sounded like Solid Snake in a medieval European fantasy setting... It just felt out of place.

I'd much rather prefer an Eastern European accent, or a British accent.

Wouldn't saying Murican be the same as calling somebody a *** for example? Why is this okay to say, but not other insulting words for other countrie and it's people?

...he already has an American accent, making it gruff isn't going to change a lot. His accent is kind of odd what with most other characters being British but it helps set apart the different races and makes him feel distinct. Plus making him sound "badass" would lose some of the charm his character has which is that he's always so calmly spoken even when being threatening or blackmailing someone. You don't need to sound badass when you ARE badass.

"***" is a racial slur. "Murican" is not.

Besides, the term "Muricans" is barely ever used where I live... We usually refer to Americans as "Yanks".

Uhhh, no he should not. His accent is fine just how it is. I'd prefer a British accent for an American one though, more specifically the rough Sheffield accent. If you don't know what a sheffield accent is --- Listen to Sean Bean, he's got it :)

@Salt_The_Fries:

Yeah, Michael Wincott has an awesome voice. I remember him most for his role as the lead antagonist in The Crow.

I think he would do a great job voicing Geralt, but I'm already used to Geralt's current voice and the voice actor does a fine job.

Btw, Syndicate was such a cool, underrated game.

This, and Geralt of Rivia should never have had an American accent to begin with. A similar accent to Robert Carlyle or Sean Bean would have suited his character better.

It is still an insult and it not being used much where you are isn't relevant, now is it? And to help you out a bit, only us people from the northern states are called Yanks. Calling an American from the south a yank would be pretty silly and incorrect.

British accent would be better. Like Sean Connery, Robert Carlisle, Gerard Butler or Ewan McGregor.

no it is not. "***" is considered racist probably following its use by americans in WW2. I dont get offended when someone calls me a "brit"

Yes it is. My text was red for a reason. Did you not even bother clicking the link I provided? My text is the link, which is why it is red.
