Nothing personal, I don't trust visuals on games that aren't released yet in internet stuff. I wasn't planning to buy this because Gears 1,2 are already on the BC list and I'll just wait for that and download my copies.

Played some of the Beta and the game looks way better than those screen shots, those shots may be true, but they don't represent the overall graphics and look of the game.

I played the GeoW Beta on my Xbone about 10 times. I'm level 9 or something. The MP options are atrocious which makes it aggravating.

It's kind of funny that GeoW 1 is still online on 360...

I then busted out GeoW 1 for 360 and played that online. Besides being more fun since it's complete with the correct modes (Warzone and Execution), I noticed this GeoW Ultimate version has polish but also lacks polish. Different devs I guess, plus it is a beta, but man it's obvious there are some downgrades on aspects like water for instance.

GeoW Ultimate is a rip off at $60, no doubt about it (not exact about pricing, but I remember getting 3 remasters for $40 all last gen). One game remastered for $60? Even at $40 it's overpriced for one game. I predict a quicker than normal price drop with retailers within a few months. I might nab it for $20, if only to play with new Xboner friends that never played GeoW before (I'm an old GeoW Vet).

I kept reading conflicting prices but your verification and correction was welcomed. I checked GS, Amazon, and a few spots and you're right. Still overpriced for one game, but not as bad as some others were saying. I just know it's $20 or bust for me, especially after the GeoW Ult Beta.

@SolidTy: Same. $20 is the price it should be and I'll bite when it gets there. And yeah, the beta shitty.

I already confirmed it was a beta so I wasn't judging the polish so I know not to judge it since Betas are early. I'm judging it based on the fact that no remasters are worth $40 to me for games I own. $40 last gen got us three remastered games in one package. This new trend of one game remastered for $40 is not a good deal for me, since I own all the GeoW games. We saw a similar price point with Halo Anniversary which was $40 as well.

The options are slim for this beta and unfortunately this new developer chose the absolute worst options to debut with potential new GeoW fans. GeoW is all about Warzone and Execution, but this Beta features King of the Hill and Team Deathmatch which these old GeoW maps were not designed for. Camping and spawn killing galore. I'm sure the final product will have the GeoW mainstay modes that make GeoW MP fun, but unfortunately this new developer seems intent on pushing a more mainstream COD appeal into the beta.

It's funny, I played GeoW1 360 online last night after the GeoW Ult Xbone beta pissed me off. Had loads more fun and even picked up an achievement that I never got ages ago. That's when I noticed the graphics weren't all that great when my lady walked in and asked me if I was still playing the beta. I laughed and told her I was playing the 360 and she didn't believe me. So much for dem wowza graphics when she couldn't tell the difference at all between 360 and Xbone GeoW.

Lostrib let me know about the $40 pricing though above. It's better than $60 which I'm glad about, but I still say remasters I own are $20 or less. That just means it will be $20 sooner than later for me. It's not a guaranteed purchase, but if a few Xboner friends want to play new GeoW I may bite at $20...for them.

I agree and disagree with this thread, first off those shots yes are better on Xbox 360 no doubt, in fact in most areas I feel the Xbox 360 gears looked better but more by their original design than being overlooked by the graphical re-imagining.

On the Gears of War website where you sign up for the beta they have Xbox 360 vs Xbox One shots, and honestly in most of them I liked the look of the old Xbox 360 look over the Xbox One look, I think they were going for something brighter and more colorful, probably because gamers complained about monotone color pallets when they bitch about games looking grey/brown, where essentially calling a game "grey/brown" became a pejorative. As for this thread's shots aren't good examples to make these comparisons, as they're basically just looking at the armpits of the map.

Anyhow, whether it looks better or not doesn't matter to me much as I might not get this just because it lacks the addition of a Horde mode, and I can't justify something I can get for less through Xbox 360 BC.

@SolidTy: somewhat off topic, but The God of war 3 remaster is also slated for a $40 price point. I certainly think it should cost less, especially since God of war 3 is newer, requires less work, and seems to add less.

More on topic to what you were saying: I don't think we can blame The Coalition for having TDM and King of the Hill placed in the beta. I agree, GeoW is about execution. However, GeoW3 introduced TDM and it was insanely popular and populated. It was always more populated than execution. So, from their standpoint, it makes sense to have the most popular mode available and the most popular objective based mode.

@john_of_rivia: You are correct, it is offtopic to bring up other games. You may as well bring up Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD as well. If this was a God of War 3 Remastered (GOW3) topic, I would be posting my feelings about that product's pricepoint...which I already have said what you said in the previous GOW 3 HD topics and Zelda HD topics, Halo Anniversary 360, and The Last of Us Remastered, etc. It's just redundant at this point. I feel the same about all of these remasters. I'm not going to buy GOW3 Remastered either, and if I did it would be for $20. If I own the original, I won't pay a dime over $20. I have nothing else to contribute there, that's just sort of random discussion about other games that we both know about as well.

As far as the GeoW MP and popularity. I never suggested that I didn't understand, I simply stated that Warzone or Execution should have been in the Beta. You want to make an argument for horrible, horrible CODish team Deathmatch on original GeoW 1 maps that aren't designed for TDM (which causes a lot of spawn kills), that's fine....but King of the Hill? It's just bad. They want to include both? Fine, but offer a 3rd mode with Execution. TDM doesn't work on these GeoW 1 maps. As far as GeoW 3, I remember feeling (and talking about it here and other places back then as I was a DAY ONE GeoW3 buyer) that EPIC was pushing TDM down our throats since day one so that mode being popular is also EPICs fault as for whatever reason ($$$) they were trying to appeal to the COD market. People new to GeoW with GeoW 3 jumped into that mode. That's also why GeoW 3 was my least favorite of all the original trilogy with MP. Now this new team is trying to spin that into GeoW1, and that just feels wrong.

The gameplay is definitely GeoW, but the MP options are terrible. In fact, I couldn't even invite my Xboner GeoW Ultimate beta friends that are also in the Beta to play with us. The day we set aside time to play GeoW Ult Beta, the Beta told us the invite/party feature wasn't enabled, so no partying up with friends which is THE ONLY way I played GeoW 1-3 on 360.

So, I had to play terrible MP modes in the Beta with randoms. It was just awful. No wonder I booted up my original copy of GeoW on 360 and played that MP instead. I had way more fun to boot. As a bonus, I was pleased to see the GeoW1 graphics were still very nice as shown in this thread.

Again I guess we differ I our views on remasters. I definitely feel some remasters have a place. I started with Gears of War 2 (multiplayer wise.) I tried going back to Gears of War and could never get used to it. I have, however, been able to play with the Ultimate Editions better framerates and better movement controls. I doubt I'll get it, but it certainly feels updated and better to me. To each his own.

Fair enough. I think they could've added more than 2 game modes as well. However, assuming they ONLY wanted feedback from two game modes, it makes sense for them to include the most popular elimination mode and objective based mode.

I was completely bummed about not being able to invite friends either (guess we'll wait till GoW 3 comparability), but it makes sense. GoW 3 was heavily dominated by full teams. If that occurred in this beta, the beta certainly wouldn't be as fun and I'm sure feedback wouldn't be as good. For example, full teams wouldn't complain about re spawn times or spawn shield times, whereas individuals players would. So while I don't like that I can't invite friends, it does make sense as of right now.

I didn't see your edit. I found Gow3 to be my favorite Multiplayer. It was the most polished and it did a lot of things right, but it was also the most casual friendly. I felt like if it had Judgments weapon balance, it would've been even better.

Only questionable looking thing is the art direction, but hot damn it was only several years ago people were crying about the greys and browns in 7th gen games that were made popular by Gears.

Not buying no matter what it costs. Not enough value to justify a purchase. Shame, MSoft could have had another great collection but chose the easy way out.

That water does look bad, but after watching the video, the game is noticeably improved.

The only reason I would buy this game is if they include cross-play with the PC version. I need a fun game to play with my PC buds. Otherwise I'll wait until Gears 4 to return to the franchise.
