[QUOTE="DarkLink77"] This. That statement was f*cking stupid and you should feel bad, Matt.HAZE-Unit

I do not feel bad, so shoot me. And no just no to both those titles mentioned.

Dude, if you want to talk about bad don't mention Super Mario RPG, that game was one of the best RPGs ever created.

Haze knows what's up.

I wouldn't have an issue with Nintendo IPs if they weren't the only legitimate gaming experiences on their consoles. They consistently ignore the third party, and occasionally make poor attempts (Wii U) to win them back.

It's not like this is news. Nintendo cashes in on Nostalgia - they had some awesome franchises back in the 90s; they've failed to move on.

Nintendo doesn't even know how to make games in HD yet.

Mature games with realistic graphics good game design >>>>>>>>> cartoons with good design

Would I rather play Mass Effect(just an example) or save the princess for the 100th time.

All this nostalgia talk is stupid. Nostalgia doesnt magically make a game. The game still needs to be a great game. Any game I have looked forward to and have hyped has been based on some sort of "nostalgia". Grand Theft Auto 5 looks amazing and I want it based off of the fact that Rockstar makes good games. Does that mean GTA5 is going to be a great game only because I liked 3, Vice City, San Andreas and IV? No!

The same goes for a game company wanting to make a new IP. Our hype is based off of the "nostalgia" of the past games the company made.

I have never played a Zelda game and thought to myself "This game is great because I liked Ocarina of Time." If Nintendo makes a bad game, as a fan of the company I would be the first to be upset about.

It's kind of weird for me because as a kid, i never really grew up playing mario or or zelda or metroid or whatever. Donkey kong was the only nintendo franchise i really played, and I absolutely love mario games right now. I actually feel like if i had played all these mario games before, maybe i'd actually be fatigued.

It's all about the gameplay. That's why people love Mario so much. Nintendo is always coming up with new ideas that make the games feel fresh even with the save the princess story being overused.

if the games weren't good, I'd have a problem with it. But fire emblem is still one of the great IPS Nintendo has. Radiant Dawn's review should tell you everything that gamespot's not always 100%. (hint: it went like this "herp derp derp, radiant dawn doesn't have waggle therefore it's not that good." )

I'll stop playing Nintendo games when they stop being so awesome. We've seen a lot of sequels and throwbacks the past few years, but the quality has still been there.

I think they are just very resistant to modern tech. With the Wii and WiiU they were/are miles behind in graphics, sound, online, features, and even gameplay in some cases.

[QUOTE="charizard1605"]Nintendo has the biggest stable of proven IPs in the world. As long as they continue to give is all new experiences, and they do, it doesn't matter what they do.Pikminmaniac

Ninitendo is more creative annd original with their old ips than their competition is with their new ips

I'd agree with that to a great deal. It is probably indicative of Nintendo not being with the times in that they don't realise that game design alone isn't the only driving factor influencing purchases any more. People also buy into the experience of a game as well as the world and characters. This is why other publishers can create several different franchises that are more or less of similar (at the very least the same genre) but still do well. Nintendo doesn't have the people to create new worlds or characters (at least they haven't demonstrated it) and should really consider bringing them on board in the long-run. Nintendo will never start putting out games like MS or Sony are, but there are still many worlds and characters that are left uncreated that they could bring to fruition.

Still, Nintendo needs to start making use of ai and physics now. They didnt do that with the Wii, despite the Wiis CPU being the strongest compontant in it. They're going to have to move with the times and stop ignoring these things now.

I reckon Nintendo will use those things...but probably not in the way people expect. I can very realistically see Nintendo writing AI's that read save data from other games and look at they way people play/struggle to automatically adjust the number and style of tutorial prompts or automate difficulty changes/enemy location and so on. We've already seen Nintendo experiment with that kind of thing with the guide/auto-clear in Skyward Sword/SMG2. Something along those lines was also something Nintendo was trying to push with the finger/pulse-sensor add-on for the Wii that never quite materialised. Expecting the enemies in Nintendo games to suddenly start taking cover and flanking you though? Yeah, probably not going to happen.

With ai, sure baby steps, in time hopefully they'll find clever ways to use it.

But i'm fairly surprised Nintendo haven't made extensive use of physics. Physics can make for some really fun and interesting gameplay in all types of games.

One of the few games that really pushed physics on the Wii was the Boom Blox series, which used every other clock cycle to calculate physics. Although I know the SMG made some use of it too.

Entries in Nintendo's core franchises are typically much different than the previous entries. The only exception I can think of to this is New Super Mario Bros. but even those games differ more than CoD and big sellers.

Edit: For awhile Mario Party was a yearly thing.

I'm not sure if FlingSmash used Physics I didn't play it; I also think Odama on the GCN might of used Physics but I could be wrong.

The video hit the the nail on the head. That is one of Nintendo's biggest problems. When you have numerous Mario Parties, Fortune Street, Mario and Sonic Olympics, Mario Sluggers, Mario Tennis, Mario Soccer, Mario Kart, Super Mario Brothers 1&2, Super Mario Galaxy 1&2, Super Paper Mario, Mario vs Donkey Kong MLM, and god knows what other Mario games all coming out in the same generation it's overkill! This shows a lack of originality, creativity, and just having the stones to try something new which is embarrassing for a company whose hardware side of things can't seem to stop trying to innovate (poorly, but innovation none the less). Not even going to get into their other franchises.

People are really catching on to this and Nintendo is going to be hurting this console/handheld cycle. They need a rude awakening.Â
