Been playing the Final Fantasy series recently and I'm currently really enjoying FFVIII even though I heard it's one of the most hated games in the entire franchise.
What games do you enjoy that get a lot of hate?

Hm i'd say something recent like Destiny like only 2 or 3 people hate it in an online forum but its one of the most popular FPS out there in the real world alongside other games like call of duty and star wars battlefront too
at the end of the day there are always haters no matter which you chose but what really matters is how much you enjoy it
Call of Duty Ghosts has one of THE best campaigns in the franchise I've ever played.
Crysis 2. Aside its bad enemy AI, thoroughly enjoyed it
Zelda Skyward Sword...once you get 10 hours in
Sonic Secret Rings / Sonic Unleashed. The community keeps saying it wasn't good until Colors / Generations but I found both titles before it to be (not great) decent games.
Halo 4. Easily among my top three Halo games, if not #1 perhaps
Lastly, Mafia 2

I played XIII over X-mas, sadly I hated it :(

Ya, I can get why people don't like it XD. The story and the gameplay dont bother me that much though. The only thing that I dont like is the summon battles and the weapons upgrade system. But other than that its enjoyable for me.
I enjoyed playing-
Skyward Sword. It gets a lot of flak, but I think it's a great game. I loved the art style, the swordplay felt awesome, and some of the bosses were really good. Not to mention the dynamic the game built between Link and Zelda actually made me care for those two and their relationship.
And being able to pull out the Master Sword myself with the Wiimote's motion controls... as a Zelda fan, there's not much more I can ask for :P
@benleslie5: The Bouncer (PS2)
Oh man that game was awful. Back in 2001/early 2002, me and a classmate traded games(not for keeps) he let me burrow The Bouncer in which I gave him a game called Devil May Cry.
The Bouncer should of been a great beat-em up game but the mechanics were awful. I think I played through it though.
On this board? Destiny. Since The Taken King it has become one of the better multiplayer FPSs out there.
Of course on this forum it's horrible trash by a hack developer who is out to profit on their name alone while not putting any real effort forth. That's just because we're a higher class of gamer around these parts.
Destiny
Devil's Third
Resident Evil 6
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City
Heavy Fire: Afghanistan
Heavy Fire: Shattered Spear
The Order: 1886
Final Fantasy XIII
Probably lots more.
The internet gaming community seems to hate GTA IV, but it's my second favorite game in the franchise after Vice City. As a whole package, I think it's much better than the overrated GTA V.
Hate GTAV myself, had it on PS3 and then PC but still can't stomach more than 4 hours.
@davem1992: I still think I'm in the minority of Knack, It's mainly targeting at young kids back at launch. They see beautiful colors and their objective is very simple enough to understand. At least that's what I got out of it from playing it 2 years ago. This isn't me saying it was the best and it did had it's flaws, but I think it wasn't that bad of a game, I just listed cause it was hated and I did kinda had fun with Knack at launch.

I dont get all the hate on that one either. I think it was cool to have the motion plus controls in a zelda game and was pretty much what miyamoto had intended for wii zelda gameplay. I actually liked the art style too, I thought the new design for zelda was cool to see. Maybe the story could have been reworked a bit, but overall the game isnt as bad as everyone makes it out to be

I don't hate it, but a lot of things about it rub me the wrong way.
+Story is trash. I don't see how anyone can enjoy such nonsense, but different strokes I guess. Trevor was an entertaining character, but that's about all the story has going for it. The parts with Michael's family and the FIB were downright painful. The R* quote in which they say that the story is about the "almighty dollar" is a fucking joke. All the GTA games are about money; stop using vague phrases to hide the fact that your game's story isn't about shit. As I said earlier, this game's story is hot garbage and I question the taste of anyone who think it's remotely good.
+For every amazing mission, there's an equally awful one. A bad GTA IV mission just lacked excitement, a bad GTA V mission was extremely painful to get through. Some of the worst missions in GTA history are in this game.
+The satire is incredibly try hard and dated.
+The cars all seemed to drive similarly and the shooting, while vastly improved from GTA IV in terms of targeting and cover mechanics, lacks the punch of GTA IV.
+The game is easy as ****. There's absolutely no challenge to the shooting bits. The only missions that gave me problems were the flying missions (there were way too many of these fucking flying missions), which were annoying like all GTA flying missions.
+So much fucking driving. This would be fine if there were plentiful cabs, but cabs are extremely rare.
+This isn't really a knock on the game, but the map isn't even remotely as big as R* had everyone believe. And a lot of it was boring dead space. Would have preferred a bigger LA over all the boring country side.
+The torture mission was awful and just in there for shock value. Spare me the lame attempts to argue that they were making a socially relevant point, R* fanboys.
+Just an overall sense that the developers lacked vision for this game. For all GTA IV's flaws (and there are many), I could see exactly what they were trying to do with it and the story actually has thematic coherence and something to say. GTA V is just R* throwing a bunch of shit at the wall. Sloppy sloppy effort on their part.
+Did I mention that the FIB storyline bits were cancer? I winced internally every time I so much as saw those douchebags.

Unfortunately, I don't see this one getting retroactively praised the way Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are now lol
Real shame, though, I really enjoyed SS.
Who is hating KH 2???
Yeah seriously I'd like to know this :o I wasn't aware KH2 got any flak from anyone.
To clarify, KH2 wasn't that popular to some viewers mainly because it had Disney characters and it's consider underrated.
In short, this is just me say, it got the hate but not the Internet rage hate.

I also really like Crysis 2. Story was stupid as ****, but I love everything else about it. It plays well, its environments are interesting and varied, and it looks oh so good. It and Crysis 3 are easily the best looking games of last gen.
Final Fantasy XIII. I will probably not play it more than the one time because of its linearity and mindless combat, but I had waaaay too much fun with it on that first/last/only glorious run.
Lightning is meh, but Vanille is the realness.
I guess XIII-2 can also be added, although I won't play that one again either despite its multiple endings. There just isn't any replay value in these games, but I did have lots of fun with them. I haven't even touched Lightning Returns. Should I consider it if I enjoyed the other two? (srs question)
Metroid Other M :The story is shit, not disagreeing, and the controls were questionable, but the overall action was enjoyable, the boss fights were top notch, and the games overall rhythm was enjoyable. It wasn't exactly anywhere close to living up to Metroid's high ass standards, but I've played alleged great Zelda games that I think are shittier than Other M. Plus gun to my head, I'd rather play Other M than Prime 3, any day of the week.
Underrated by critics:
Hated by fans:
Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide, both ripped on for being glitchy, and they were great fun nonetheless. Same could be said of Lost Planet 2, got shat on for being glitchy and not having a solid SP, but as a four player online co-op it was intended to be it was fucking awesome.
Resident Evil 6, not nearly as bad as the harsh critics of it would let on but flawed for other reasons commonly not addresses. I however was fine with the refined combat mechanics leading to a more action focused game. The pacing and design caters to co-op better than something like that overrated RER2 garbage. However, the game was very glitchy too, largely because Capcom's A-list talent went to Platinum leaving Capcom working with the talent scraps.
