This was a great year for video game music! My personal favorites were:

Bayonetta 2. And Captain Toad. My god that adventurous theme.... As soon as I heard that music it haunted my soul. I can hear it now and I am pumped for adventure again!

Actually sang Moon River in the shower the other day, thanks to Bayonetta 2's wonderfully sappy and vibrant rendition of it.

Transistor has a hum button that's incredibly addicting to use and memorise. Probably one of the best soundtracks of the year.

Shovel Knight is easily the most catchiest and consistently memorable. It's modern 8-bit. Modern, as in the amount of channels layered cant really be emulated by the NES, but Shovel Knight's awesome soundtrack doesnt care.

My favourite Soundtrack of the year that i've hummed to is from an Early Access Game, Greatness awaits you wonderful crazy shopkeeper:

I've had "The Touch" stuck in my head for a few days now ever since playing Shadow Warrior.

I thought the song sounded mighty familiar and I was right. It's on the Transformers the Movie soundtrack (the 1986 animated film).

This theme, and the battle theme (especially the Persona 4 side one) is absolutely amazing and catchy.

The Persona 4 anime has some really great ones, as well. Wish they were in the game.

Oh yeah, the animes had some really neat ones. Especially Next Chance To Move On. Damn that tune is great. And Key Words Plus is badass as ****.

At least other anime exclusive tunes like True Story and I'll Face Myself Reincarnation made it to Persona 4 Golden, though.

-Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze had an amazing soundtrack (still baffled that NIntendo decided we really needed a million renditions of the DKC main theme in SSB4 as opposed to more stuff from TF's soundtrack, or stuff from DKC1 and 2 for that matter...)

-Shovel Knight (and I've never even been that much of an 8-bit music fan, outside of Megaman and now Shovel Knight)

The GTA V songs that stuck in my head the longest, and I started singing along with, were the Soulwax remix of Gabriel and Kendrick Lamar - ADHD.

I also love Hudson Mohawke - 100HM, but that one has no vocals :P

Yeah, I mean outside of that I love music, I just have never heard the music in games I've bought this year.

Ah that's a shame, nothing stood out to you. But I can relate to that, I sometimes have that as well. Like the music is good, and fits the game, but it doesn't stand out.

The two games I know will have an awesome soundtrack, DKC: Tropical Freeze and Stealth Inc 2, I still haven't really played yet :P

I love their previous work: David Wise made the soundtracks for the original 3 DKC games, which are classics in every single way. And the OST of Stealth Inc 1 is still something I listen to almost daily =)
