Looks good but won't win GOTY despite being a good series, too many games this year and MGS has never had a good track record when it comes to GOTY, the entire series has only won 2 GOTY awards.

Witcher 3, Zelda, Arkham, Xenoblade X are going to embarrass MGSV. If Halo 5 and Uncharted 4 go back to Halo 2/3 and Uncharted 2 levels you can add them to the list too.

Will get it, beat it in a week, have some fun in the MP for a week or 2 and then it'll be forgotten about.

I think everyone forgot to mention that since I haven't seen it on a single top 10 most anticipated of 2015 list on any site.

Anyway these top 10/ top whatever list are usually worthless, crap games like Evolve and the Corrider 1886 are on a bunch of these list so I take them with a grain of salt.

MGS4 may have sucked, but I think a lot of people were surprised at how decent PW actually was for a handheld spin-off.

For me and many others though, it was Ground Zeroes that fully restored faith. At the very least, MGSV will have some great gameplay and lots of it.

I mean I do get what you're saying, that is the proper retort. Halo is a bigger IP than MGS anyways.

This game is going to lose out to Arkham Knight, Halo 5, or Uncharted 4. But it will get a nice honorable mention.

Bad comparison, for one they're single player games, were the Msater Chief Collection had a huge multiplayer component and was running several net codes. Make no mistake that 343 botched and should of beta tested it but I can understand why it didn't work for a while, hence why didn't buy it when it came out.

Secondly none of the games in the MGS collection were remastered, where as Halo 1 and 2 were fully rebuilt using newer game engines and Halo 3 and 4 were bumped up to 1080p and 60 fps. MGS Legacy Collection was literally slapping ports of older games on one disc.

@extrodinare101: And how is MGS4/PW and the MCC a better comparison? It doesn't make sense to compare full games to remastered ports. And even in that instance the former two games and their online components were fully playable at launch.

The fairer comparison might be Halo 4 and MGS4. But these comparisons are stupid anyway, MGS5 is a completely new direction for the series far removed from MGS4 whereas Halo 5 is just... Halo.

As someone who absolutely detests MGS4, I gotta say I couldn't be more hyped for MGSV.

No, I won't pay $30 for a game that short. Replayable or not.

It's going to be part of Phantom Pain, yeah? At this point, I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.

It isn't part of TPP. It's a standalone title. It's $19.99 on Steam and will probably go on sale at some point for half that price or less. I got 20 hours out of the Steam version and I didn't even 100% it, so I think it's well worth the off-sale $20 asking price. The gameplay is incredibly fun and open-ended and you'll want to replay missions multiple times to try out new ways to complete objectives.

I gotcha, though even brand new I believe it's only 20 bucks at the very most. I've seen it as low as $15 new and $5 used.

It's funny though man, to date I've gotten more than triple the amount of play time from GZ than I got from MGS4 lol. And I played MGS4 3 times (yes, I hated the game, but as an MGS fanatic I felt compelled to dissect the game). GZ just has a lot more staying power. Far more replayable than any of the previous titles in the series which is saying a **** load since I've played MGS2 and MGS3 dozens of times over.

And no, at least not according to Kojima. Of course this is Kojima though, so grain of salt and all that. But he's reiterated multiple times that GZ is its own thing. I do believe Camp Omega is supposed to make a return in MGSV, but not in the same form. Apparently GZ players will get something extra out of it, but eh, probably nothing substantial.

Anyways, I only really asked because after playing GZ, my worries were washed away. It seems like Kojima realized all of his pitfalls with MGS4 and is creating the antithesis to that game.

All that said, you might be better off staying away from GZ. I played it to death and I'm worried that the initial impact of MGSVs godly gameplay just won't be the same for me. :(

Yeah man, the first time you complete a mission you don't even feel like you completed shit lol. It feels like you're just getting started. You just have this overwhelming sense of "Holy ****, I need to try this! I need to try that! I haven't been there! What happens if I do this!?"... Seemingly endless experiments, it's great. And then when you go for those S-ranks, or ghost runs? Fucking sweet.

Maybe I'm over selling it, but I loved that shit enough to buy the game twice lol. I'm so worried that MGSV will consume my life and drive me into homelessness.

Kojima said for sure you can unlock Big Boss's Fox suit (used in GZ) as a costume in TPP if you bought GZ. I think that's about it, aside from extra followers you can unlock in Mother Base. And you can also revisit Camp Omega in TPP if you own GZ. Also...

“People who own GZ will be able to play a different mission(s) at Camp Omega in TPP. That’s the current plan. There’s something of a big feature involved. It’s never been done in the games industry before. So I can’t go into detail about it, but I think when you experience it for yourselves you’ll be surprised. I'm sure it will be the release date, it makes sense. I do find it a bit suspect though that they were that sloppy with giving it away in their CSS, something that any idiot with a web browser can look into.

Kojima is an expert at keeping things under wraps, they've managed to keep the release date hush even though it's been known internally for months now. Just seems fishy that they would slip up now.

I never understood how it could score that high, it was a good game, but nothing special. Worse mgs game in the main series in my opinion.

So a good game (albeit nothing special) has the same meaning as 'bad' as speedfreak put it? Of course, for every game that receives a 10/10 score, there will be a bunch of people who think it's overrated, with good reason. It's one thing to think a game is overrated, and it's another thing to think the game is bad.
