MGS1 on vita is a little weird because you have to assign the L2/R2 to the back touch pad or touch screen

...I still need to beat that game, gameplay wise it hasn't seemed to age that well

SotN aged wonderfully, one of those games that will always remain playable.

Some MGS fanboys would cut your head off for saying that, but it's the truth. The gameplay is like a clunky, slightly more complex Pac Man. I still love the game and it manages to deliver a strong atmosphere despite the terrible early-3d graphics. And if you've been playing for years and know it inside out, the play doesn't feel too bad. It's a little rough for a new comer though.

I couldn't finish it the first time through, Cyber Ninja was too yuck.

Say what you want about MGS2, that game was basically MGS1 were it a fun game and aged at least somewhat well.

It is like an upgraded MGS1, but it's a big enough upgrade to make a hell of a difference. Between the much improved enemy AI, smoother animations, expanded mechanics, sharp level design and breadth of options it remains very playable still. I much prefer MGS3, but MGS2s gameplay actually feels easier to jump back into. Both games require some finger gymnastics though.

It's fantastic on Vita. Really feels like a proper fit for the handheld when it comes to gameplay. The cutscenes, on the other hand... wow are they fucking long.

Yeah, MGS2 might be worse than MGS4 in that regard. Big difference being that some of the cutscenes in 2 are actually enjoyable whereas MGS4 cutscenes make me want to either puke or fall asleep.

I might pick up SotN.

Paying $10 for an incredibly easy game PS1 game just never sat easy with me.

Where the #&!$ is GTA 1&2, Rockstar?

The best Castlevania ever (imo), well worth the ~$5. Still plays great, has a nice OST and visuals haven't aged all that bad, and won't age much more than that, since it's mostly 2D art. Gameplay is fun, and has got a lot of replayability.

MGS - graphics aged poorly. This affects immersion, althought the great voice actors and the codec interface helps a bit. Gameplay got rough and slow though, and this could spoil the experience more than graphics. Story is interesting while being less convoluted than the general MGS title. The boss battles are good. Still wouldn't buy it as a stand-alone title.

Silent Hill - now this one must be the one that suffered the most with the passing of time. Everything about it aged badly and it lost it's appeal.

Suikoden - can't judge it since I've never played it.

it's archaic and simplistic but unique. You collect people to join your cause like pokemons and the game's story is not black and white like most JRPG's. It's a small taste of what is to come, Suikoden II, which is the real gem of this series. The PS2 games are not too shabby either. Suikoden is a really amazing but criminally underrated game series because of its humble appearance.

Yeah, PS1 Metal Gear Solid is very rough. Gamecube Metal Gear Solid actually aged Decently. I still don't get the hate for that game.

Mgs1 is hard to look at nowadays. I only play it with bleem and even then it's pretty rough. wanted to get the GameCube version of Metal Gear Solid 1 for years but that runs like 70 bucks on eBay that is something I would love for Konami to re release on Virtual Console or PlayStation Network or something.

Well, props to him actually. Immersion is very important to me when gaming, and I simply can't get immersed in SH1 anymore, for me it's lost that ability completely. I can understand that it may be different to others.

Castlevania Symphony of the Night is arguably the best PS1 game, definitely worth if you haven't played it, sadly i already beat that game to death hundred of times back in the days.

Metal Gear Solid basically plays like a top down 2D game, it's very simple to get into, with a little patience required for its clunky shooting and melee mechanics. It's a great game worth playing to this day with unique, memorable characters and a fantastic soundtrack. I feel that it's the best in the series, without a doubt has the best balance between cutscenes and gameplay.

Silent Hill gets better as time goes on because of its genre. As a survival-horror game, the crude graphics and limited vision create a sense of dread and a powerful eery atmosphere, especially in the alternate Silent Hill city where you're surrounded by darkness rather than white fog. I loved that feeling of horror, it's a very well designed game.

Obviously, you'll need to go in with a mind state of appreciation for these two games based on the time and system they released on, and enjoy them for what they are.

Nothing too exciting. MGS is absolutely baller, but hasn't aged all that well. The Twin Snakes did decently, but was a little over-dramatic.
