http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-11-06-why-forza-motorsport-5-has-less-cars-and-tracks-than-forza-4

"Xbox One launch title Forza Motorsport 5 is set to feature 14 tracks and 200 cars - almost halving the 26 circuits and 500 cars offered by its predecessor"

Cows are gonna have a field day with this.

Can't say I'm surprised. Some of my favorite tracks have been cut, however the new tracks should keep me occupied for a while. Hopefully they will give us a steady stream of new tracks via DLC.

Don't worry you can get 10 extra cars on launch as part of the day 1 DLC.

and this isn't even to mention how bad the game looks for what MS considers "next gen". 7/10 on GS calling it.

I wouldn't go that far. Carolyn is gushing over it in the preview:

This could get a GT5 style drop in score. There seems to be a parallel there as Forza seems to be cutting corners graphically, missing tracks and cars, not really offering too much more gameplay wise. The next gen hype might save it though.

The game looks incredible. Better then Drive Club by a mile. You're just butthurt. This is a launch title, so I wasn't expect a huge amount of cars right out of the gate. They will add more cars and tracks down the road.

Here are the tracks that made it:

Bernese Alps

Catalunya

Spa

Indianapolis

Le Mans

Laguna Seca

Mount Panorama

Prague

Road Atlanta

Sebring

Silverstone

Test Track Airfield

Top Gear test track

Yas Marina

Which of your favorite tracks got cut? Road America, the Ring are the two I'll miss the most, although I'm sad about Mugello too. That was my go to track for tuning a car, had a nice mix of everything.

Glad I'm one to wait for the complete editions of games. Not that I was ever going to get this game, but it has more than encouraged me to wait at least 3 years before entering next gen. By that time, I will be able to pick up all these titles for $5-$10. DLC bomaye!

Not better than Drive Club sorry. Whilst the car models look great the lighting's pretty bad and 60fps is a nice bonus, the reflections seem to be a mirrored image just pasted onto the cars, lots of the shadows are off, you can see the track textures load in in front of you the lod is so bad, the environment textures and trees are no good and there's still a fair amount of jaggies.

Wow that's shit. Straight up shit. I love the Forza series, I've owned every single one. If there is one game I want for the Xbox One it was Forza 5. No more. This is just wrong. You don't take massive step backs like that.

Agreed and there should be a law against putting out a serious racing game without Nürburgring.

Don't worry lemmings

There is day 1 DLC offerring you 10 cars for $10

and 1 track per week for $5 each

You might spend $120 before you get the full game.

You defend it blindly because you're a mad lem who doesn't have a single impressive looking game on your $500 720p Entertainment System while i played it on a great HDTV and seen with my own eyes how this thing looks. It looks bad no matter what you or another blind fanboy says. You'll see this in reviews and direct feed vids in less than three weeks. Be excited to play your Forza 4.5.

It doesn't look amazing. Not even by 360 standards, considering Forza 4 looks just as good and sometimes better. ALSO, Forza 4 has more features and tracks and cars...

What surprise me is that they have more cars already strip from the game to be sold apart for $50 more in the whole car pass.

Want 200 cars + 50 more pay $110 total while GT6 has 1200....

No No No No.

This actually really annoys me. This is now literally half a game.

I would like to point out the competition here: Gran Turismo 6

Forza 5Gran Turismo 6
200 cars400 cars (completely ignoring standard POS cars)
14 tracks37 tracks (100 layouts of those tracks)

Compared to GT6, Forza 5 really does seem like a cash in. I understand this is going to next gen, but this is just more evidence of a rushed game.

This coupled with day 1 dlc, and season passes, it really feels that Microsoft is desperate to milk this as much as possible, and rush it out the door at the same time.

And that's what I'm also scared of. It's already going to cost $50 more to get the car number up 60 more (up to 260, still pretty much half of GT6); how much will they charge for tracks too, when they already have 1/3 of the tracks of the competition?

I know lems will defend this to death, but please wake up and wait for Forza 6 lems. I really do not feel this game should be supported with sales.

Matt you are abit illinformed, with GT6 it's like this. So far there have been 124 announced new cars to the series, There have also been alot of standard cars converted into premiums, Toyota 2000 GT, Veyron, Sauber C9 to name a "Few" there are alot more im sure, but these are the only ones confirmed for now.

add in the 50 cars confirmed cars missing from the "updated car list" for example, the Ferrari P5/4, Mercedes CLA AMG, Mercerdes E63 AMG '13, Mercedes A45 AMG and etc, and you have about 500+ premium cars, and other cars (standards) that have been upgraded to look MUCH better, and have interiors. also Standard and premium cars don't exist anymore. All cars are just lumped into one massive group.

As for tracks the course maker locations count, so there are about 46 tracks in all. 100+ variations.

I wouldn't really care about not having 500 cars, because really you will only drive like 20-30 at most. Tracks though are important, cutting them is pretty gash.

Come on now, Forza 4 had an epic list, so much variety of consistent Quality... and your right about tracks.

In GT5 and F4 i litterally drove every car on their rosters, from the kei cars in GT to the classis euro fighters in forza

You must have had far too much time on your hands, I likely only drove about 100 different cars in GT5, and 60 or so in Forza 4.

But it's the choice I like. I like the idea of just being able to buy a random car that I would never have dreamed of driving, and chucking it on the track and seeing how it goes

The cars bit isn't too bad, aside from having day 1 dlc for cars.

It's the 14 tracks that really winds me up. That's pathetic. They will get boring so quickly.

Nurburgring - both Nordschleife and the Grand Prix
Circuit de Manaco (even though its never been in a Forza game)
Mugello
Hockenheimring

Though with all the circuits being laser scanned, I would imagine a much greater detail - so that is more important to me than having a greater variety of not as well realized tracks.

Forza 2 and GT3 all over again. Rushed to the market and not a step up in the series but a step backwards. That is a small amount of cars and tracks.

I dont think those numbers are bad actually.

The cars bit isn't too bad, aside from having day 1 dlc for cars.

It's the 14 tracks that really winds me up. That's pathetic. They will get boring so quickly.

How many were in Flopza4?

Forza 5 tracks are laser scanned and as far as I can tell only Bathurst is scanned in GT6.

Please correct me if I am incorrect and more GT tracks are scanned.

I think all tracks new to GT5 were scanned unless I'm mistaken.

Other than random people pulling it out of their asses, I can't find anything on GT 5 tracks being laser scanned. And whenever it is brought up it get swatted down quickly so I don't think Polyphony scans their tracks.

And for people who don't know what it is to laser scan a track: according to the folks at iRacing it is a recreation that is accurate down to 1mm and takes a 10 man team up to 10 months to create one(1) track.
