2nd is forza 5 a system seller ?

#2 Posted by AMD655 (4495 posts) -

Sure is, i enjoyed Forza 3 and 4, they matched GT 4, such a shame GT 5 was a bag of shit.

Ryse to come yet.

#3 Posted by musicalmac (22899 posts) -

Probably not. I don't think Forza has ever outsold GT, to my knowledge, despite being a better series overall.

what a nice review, i wasn't the least bit interested in the game until that review

#5 Posted by NoirLamia777 (2132 posts) -

For huge racing fans maybe, but definitely not for me. I don't enjoy racing games.

#6 Posted by HadOne2Many (1251 posts) -

As a huge racing fan, yes. Yes it is. For everyone else though, nah. Still no system sellers for either system.

Sadly, Call of Duty: Ghosts is selling BOTH the PS4 and the XB1.

I'd actually prefer if Killzone and Forza were the best-selling titles for each console.

Not a big enough racing fan for a racing game to ever be a system seller for me. Same with fighting and sports games.

#9 Posted by blue_hazy_basic (27383 posts) -

No, not even close. Its probably a nice game to buy if you want the system but can't see more than a handful of people making a decision to buy a console over a Forza game.

#10 Posted by gago-gago (9349 posts) -

Could be. I mean there seem to be a huge racing game community. These devs keep on making racing games and peripherals and racing fans buy them up. So far Forza is still leading and is the leader of the genre.

Not to me, it actually seems like a step backwards in the series and I'll wait for Forza 6. Congratz on the 9 though, it should make sw interesting for a few weeks.

a car game a system seller? no such thing

#13 Edited by I_can_haz (6551 posts) -

@Krelian-co: Gran Turismo is a system seller. Can't say the same Forza or another racing game though

#14 Posted by princeofshapeir (13745 posts) -

Racing games in general aren't system sellers for me. The score is hilarious for causing Cow butthurt, but it's not influential in my decision of which console to purchase.

nope i don't think there is a relevant amount of people who would buy a system for a sole racing game.

It's not about what you think (no offense), racing games are like any other genre and have their own fanbase. I personally am not a fan of racing games but i do enjoy them once in a while. :)

Forza hasn't ever really been a huge seller.

But things might be different this time, with the PS4 not having a comparable racing game at launch and all.

If you're into racing games, it seems like a solid entry into the franchise. But racing sims are not for everyone. Whether it will push people into buying One's that were not planning on buying a One is a tough question to answer. I'd say no. But for those picking up a One, it's a nice cherry on top.

Forza never sells lol

Actually Killzone is outselling Forza so yeaaaaah.

#20 Posted by tdkmillsy (1279 posts) -

Its not a system seller on its own but combining it with a fighting game in Killer instinct, a management/kiddy game in zoo tycoon, a graphical showcase in Ryse and fun zombie game in Dead Rising 3. There is exclusives to offer most people and that's what makes Microsoft's line up better than Sony's currently.

i know, i do enjoy them too, but i just don't see many people saying "damn forza or gt is coming out im going to buy x system just to play it" could be wrong though.

A Racer is never a console seller. There's only a small percentage of gamers who like them. I only know 2 people who like Racers who are gamers. I know about 50 gamers.

Yup, indeed, it looks to be hands down the best launch title. I know a bunch of people who are buying the xbox one for this and some for Ryse.

The game is better than forza4 in every way except less cars and maps every other aspect is much better in forza5.

Although we do all know that the highest selling games will be multiplat such as COD, BF or NBA2k14. Just the way it is, but yes Im buying a xbox one partly for forza (its passed GT as the best console racing series). Hell I got a PS3 partly for GT5.

i know people who like them but none that would buy a console they don't have to play them.

We do exist, but compared to other gamers we are a minority for sure. I bought a PS3 for GT5 when it came out. Of course I ended up playing a few other Sony Exclusives but had GT5 not been released I probably wouldn't have gotten a PS3. I also bought two additional 360s in order to play the Forza series on a triple screen setup.

Kind of, but the Forza series has never been a big seller. I mean the game is getting above average reviews everywhere and is by all accounts a solid launch title, but Forza has always catered to a smaller audience.

I can see this one selling decent because there is not much content on the Xbox One, but I don't really see it pushing sales itself. Seems that for both consoles the games pushing sales are all multiplats this year.

#27 Posted by psymon100 (6138 posts) -

Uh. Well, how many systems does it have to move in order to be a system seller? It seems like a technically correct answer might be "More than or equal to one". In which case I'd say yes I'm confident Forza 5 can be a 'system seller'.

#28 Posted by I_can_haz (6551 posts) -

@Krelian-co: it's not about what you think bro, GT is a system seller. Check out the sales of GT especially in places like Europe and Asia. It's not a big system seller in the US but worldwide it is huge. GT5 for example has sold over 10 million units and it's not even in the highest selling GT game, GT3 is with over 14 million sold. The total sales of the series are even higher than Halo and it's Sony's biggest franchise by far. It IS a system seller.

Didn't Forza always sold like shit and MS makes Turd 10 create Forza games because they need more than 1 exclusive?

No. I don't think a racing game is a system seller.

Killzone (PS4) and Ryse (XB1) are the launch system sellers as far as exclusives go.

#31 Posted by SinjinSmythe (789 posts) -

Good exclusives are system sellers. I remember being a Cow back in the PS2 hay days and I tried Forza on the first Xbox kiosk. I instantly sucked at it because I was so used to GT2's physics.

I wanted more of that game but it wasn't enough to make me buy a Xbox. Then my buddy let me play Halo. It was all over from there. Knowing the system had several games I wanted switched me over.

So Is Forza a system seller? Not by itself but when you put it in the stable of other games just around the corner. HELL YEAH.

It wont sell consoles.

It has to be a game that appeals to a broader crowd than a racer. Fighters, Racers, & Sports games aren't console sellers. They can help no doubt, but they are too limited to the crowds they appeal to.
