Forum pet peeves (game related)

What are some of your pet peeves that people say on the forums that are game related? For me it's someone who decides to play an older game and then complain about how bad the graphics are and how outdated the game play is. I never understood that. ...

People who like games I don't. Stop that.

Peasants who desperately try to argue against cold hard solid facts. When are they going to realize you can never sway and change a fact. It is futile.

When people say the PSVita has games. I mean of course it does, but with a limited budget, I'm not gonna deal with quantity over quality.

The Guy Who insist the developer (Capcom) goes back to their roots (President Evil) but out right refuses to replay the old games he loves so much. "I wan't a new one.... Exactly like the old one".

Thank God Capcom doesn't listen to him.

Anybody who uses the words "idiot" or "moron" when structuring an argument.

People who talk about/make fun of sales with the 3DS compared to the Vita yet coincidently hide whenever the Wii U is brought up.

People who argue that there's little diffrence in 30fps vs 60fps and 1080/720p

People who call others hypocrites when they themselves are.

People who say Vita has no games.

Cows/Lems who argue on points they know there already wrong on (examples: Resolution Gate)

I guess the argument that stories and storytelling don't belong in video games. The medium is still young so while we may not have great narratives or stories yet, they have improved greatly between generations. Why should we limit this industry that can be so varied just because we could read a book for a better story?

The reason we game is to interact, but some of us desire a great mix of gameplay and story. The industry has a lot of progress to make, but we'll get there. Hell, the video game industry shares a lot of similarities to the American musical when that first started and how the stories in them were viewed. But I'm too lazy to get into that.

Oh, I guess another is just overall rudeness. It's System Wars meaning debates and discussion about the systems; it isn't the board of Speak Down to Others to Think You're Showing Superiority. Aggression and hostility do nothing to support your argument.

@Zassimick: A side bar on that note -- The Writer's Guild's had a Video Game Writing category in their awards ceremonies since 2008, so it's starting to garner a little more recognition. The Last of Us won the award last night.

When people say Nintendo should go mobile, drives me freaking crazy. Make games for Playstation/Xbox? Sure, completely ruin the quality of your brand with shovelware F2P mobile games? Why?

I try hard to be polite on the internet, but the person I hate the most is that sick perverted monster who tries to gimp other people's playstyles in single player games because they think other people are playing the wrong way.

thats a classic trolling scheme thats meant to be funny right away. I used to use it back in 07-09. once in a while I make fun of some one here by arguing with them about how wrong they are cuz "my dad who works at..." shit is funny every time.

It mainly annoys me when people are talking about hardware and going into stupid depth. 99% of people on the forum would have no idea what they're talking about so it's basically devolves into pointlessly long posts between two people who could be talking complete shit for all any of us know.

Casuals and plebs. You aren't a hardcore gamer if you fit into these categories.

Those things don't bother me, even as an old-school gamer. Graphics naturally progress and game play trends tend to favor the more recent.

What I wish young players at present would do is avoid playing an old, old game and then say it's overrated because they weren't around to gauge the impact that game had when it first released. Reading about it after the fact isn't quite the same.

It's a never-ending cycle though. Gamers today will also have to deal with younger gamers in the future who'll say the greatest games of this generation are overrated (just like the way it is in the music world).

I aprove of this post. It pisses me off people that say "If you want a good story go read a book"... if everyone thought like that, movies wouldnt be ever made. Its just backwards thinking. And there are still a couple of games that, in fact, tell greater stories than most of the junk Hollywood puts out today

- People that rely on metarcritic, or scores in general, to validate to themselves whether a game is good or not

- People that look at gaming as if it's beyond anything than playing with toys

- Corporate apologists
