FO4 sold over 1.87 million digital units in 3 days, over 1.2 million from PC, more than $100 million made

Did anyone actually believe console digital sales were close to the pc. Wonder how sales will be when the mod tools release.

SuperData, a video game market analysis company, announces in a report that Fallout 4 digital sales have exceeded well over $100 million in a short period of time.

SuperData also revealed that Bethesda moved around 1.87 million digital units of Fallout 4 in three days, with 1.2 million of those units sold on the PC platform primarily through Steam. The remaining 600,000 or so copies were sold on either Xbox Live or PlayStation Network. Those sales figures aren’t surprising to gamers who have been tracking the post-apocalyptic game’s success since release, as Fallout 4 already set a Steam record for most concurrent users, shattering the mark previously held by Grand Theft Auto 5.

Although PC gamers have developed a reputation for savvy online purchases that are characterized by discounts and Steam sales, SuperData’s founder and CEO Joost van Dreunen believes Fallout 4illustrates that certain games can buck that trend. Dreunen suggested that PC gamer’s don’t “exclusively purchase games at a huge discount” and that they are “willing to shell out full price for select titles”

Bethesda when are you going release the modding tools. The animation and lip movements need fixing ASAP good god its annoying having to watch the character speak.

I got mine through the Playstation Store. Will get it for PC digitally down the line, when I upgrade. Hopefully there will be some decent mods by then.

I preordered it from a local retailer for a cheaper price than steam's.

in fact pc gamers are able to afford thousands of $ for preordering games, just look at any successful game campaigns on kickstarter

334k people playing concurrently on steam now ... that's almost unheard of for a single player game... even coming close to that ammount. very impressive.

So much for "Multiplats always sell better on consoles" .... yea... if they are casual games maybe. or GTA being a big exception.

@sovkhan: pc sales are already way higher than it day 1 sales. It peaked over 400000 that is unheard of in single player game. Even star wars combined platform didn't have that many for a mp only game

Legally? You absolutely don't, we're still in a position where there flat out aren't enough laws in place to cite whether or not you actually own your games properly. Lets ignore the easy stuff where you can't really share your own games, and all that jazz. It's a fact that if Steam cuts you off your account for one reason or another, you lose access to the games you purchased. Ergo you do not own them. If Microsoft bans you from Xbox Live, yeah you can no longer play your games online (and that in it of itself is an example of soemthing you don't really own). But you want to play Shadow of Mordor? The Witcher 3? Dragon Age? You still can, because that disc doesn't become useless.

Don't get me wrong, the doomsday scenario itself is way too much of an overreaction that ignores, it's been mostly smooth sailing with digital stores in other mediums, and Steam has been more or less fantastic. But legally speaking, no there isn't even legislation in any of these countries that would explicitly make something you bought digitally, yours. Which is an issue that should be addressed sooner than later. Europe I think is further along in the case that you can sell used digital games...don't really know how that works, I remember a PC gamer article on this mentioning osmething like that.

Otherwise, yeah you don't own your games, not in the legal sense.

Well duh, my last 3 PC's I've built haven't used a optical drive. Given the push to use PSN and XBL storefronts I reckon the next gen will be download only.

With the support of the modding community, FO4's sales will continue for years, similar to previous Bethesda titles.

Launch sales are less interesting than lifetime sales on PC, since I know there are people who will wait until mod tool releases.

When I buy full price PC games at launch, I still buy retail.

I did with BF3, Rage and Diablo3.

I have been on/off about buying FO4 since it launched. I was tempted to buy it but I am just loving Borderlands Handsome Collection at the moment so don't really need it. More interesting news about my life and what I like and don't like will follow later. Or not.

99% of PC sales are digital.

One game (probably the biggest this year) gets a good sale representation through digital sales on PC and this jackass acts as if there's a huge line out of GameStop for every new PC release.
