Poll FIXED: What is the best MAIN Assassin's Creed game? (60 votes)

Assassin's Creed 2%
Assassin's Creed II 42%
Assassin's Creed II: Part II: Brotherhood 13%
Assassin's Creed II: Part III: Revelations 0%
Assassin's Creed III 2%
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag 42%

My answer is unquestionably Black Flag. No significant contest.

Alright SW, let's discuss this.

So, originally, my favorite AC game was Brotherhood. It remained that way, up until ACIII.

Then, I realized something: Revelations is actually better than Brotherhood. Brotherhood now feels like a loose, jumbled mess to me. Side missions everywhere, none of them really tied together all that well...there were also, arguably, too many. I now see that Revelations is a much more balanced game that Brotherhood, with less side missions, but all of them are tied together very very well. Also, way better mission design, possibly the best mission design of the series.

Anyway, that is my rant :P I vote Black Flag.

Onward!

Mechanically, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is far and away the best game in the series, but I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Assassin's Creed II, and the gigantic leap forwards that it represented, so I voted that.

I like Black Flag at least as much, though.

About a year ago, after AC3 came out, I did a thread like this. Exactly like it, actually.

In that poll, over a hundred people voted. Maybe more.

AC2 had a very epic win, getting nearly 90% of the vote. I was pretty shocked.

I think the same will happen here. Though, with Black Flag thrown into the mix, it might shake things up a bit this time.....

AC2 has the best pacing, the most non-recycled content, and the best story of all the games. It is a truly great game. All the other games in the series range from awful (AC1, AC4) to decent (Revelations, AC3) to pretty good (Brotherhood).

I made a poll like this in January- AC2 had 39%, AC4 had 37%. You'll be pleasantly surprised I think :)

Well, it's definitely not the first one. That one sucks. I'm excited to play the other ones though. Supposedly much better games.

For the most part, yes, they are.

Btw, when you play Brotherhood and Revelations, do not think of them as sequels. That will ruin them for you, because they are not sequels. Think of them as extensions of AC2, and then you will at least moderately enjoy them.

I highly enjoyed the five or so hours I had with the first one. I'm a fan of parkour and historical settings as it is and it delivered on both well

2 is my favorite although I only played 2 and 4. 2 was one of the best games last generation though.

Brotherhood.

AC2 is very well put together, but Brotherhood had superior gaming mechanics.

Ass 2 by far. This will get beaten by the proverbial Asian set Assassin's Creed that will come out in the future.

I'm not sure. AC 1 is definitely the worst.... that part at the end where you do nothing but fight was just horrible.

But the others are really not that different from eachother, so I can't say.

When people take about things like Ass 1, Ass 2, Ass 3, Ass Brotherhood and Ass Revelations it sounds like porn movies.

It's hard to pick one when all of the Assassin's Creed game are all masterpieces.

But ACIV is the most GOAT of all of them

Assassin's Creed is the closest to the original concept of "social stealth". That and you play as Altair. The ultimate badass of the franchise.

Can't go wrong with the Italian Ezio from Assassin's Creed 2. You fight the pope, so it wins.

Still number 2 it laid the foundations for what the series was supposed to be and hasn't been topped.

ACII is not only my favorite, but it's also the only one I'd call better than mediocre of the ones I have played (have not played Black Flag). The series has been a bunch of misses for me but that one hit was glorious.

I have a different take on the games than a lot of people. I didn't like the setting and main character of AC2 at first, but by Revelations Ezio had grown on me.

For me I would rank them as follows:

AC4>AC1>AC3>ACR>AC2>ACB

Haven't got around to playing much of Liberation yet.

Even though Ezio is a great character probably the best Assassin from the series which is why i think it has the most votes. I did enjoy AC2 i really don't see how AC2 is better than Black Flag, Black Flag had way more exploration and things to do. It took everything from the past games that were great and built upon them.

I see what you mean.

When I played through AC2 and Brotherhood, I liked Ezio, but I never understood why he was practically worshiped by AC fans as "one of the greatest video game characters of all time." He seemed pretty average to me, in a good way.

But by Revelations, I really started to understand him as a character more. I had watched his birth at the very start of AC2, seen his pain, watched him grow and change and whatnot. By Revelations, he had gone from a charismatic ladies man (AC2), to an aging middle aged man (Brotherhood), to an older aged wise man (Revelations). It was actually a unique experience that few game characters offer, and this is why the entire Ezio Trilogy is important, because you cannot understand him until you have seen him completely evolve.

And then, you see his final days and his passing from this world in Embers.

Assassin's Creed II by a country mile, it improved on the original in so many ways and Ezio being an awesome character helped.

The first sucked and I have yet to play 3 (own it on PC) or 4, so I can't speak for those two. The rest I own and have finished and I vote for ACII.

When it comes to gameplay, yes, AC4 is the best. When it comes to overall story, mission structure, characters, location I gotta go with Brotherhood. I really really hate that they took out the Assassin training mechanics from AC4 and dumbed it down in 3 because that was one of the best mechanics introduced in the series

AC2 was better than AC4 in every way imaginable. It had much better missions, better characters, better side content (The Truth ftw), etc. AC4's missions were awful, and the side content consisted mostly of collecting chests and animus pieces out at sea. Oh, and all of these locations are already marked on your map, so all you have to do is sail to about 50 different desert islands, jump off your boat, swim to shore, and climb a tree. Then swim back to the boat and head to the next challenge. This is all very challenging because your crew sings lullabies while you are trying to sail and it is very difficult to not fall asleep in your seat while playing the game.

AC2 lets you play out an epic story and is a very good action adventure game. AC4 gives you a huge open world and sends you on what is the equivalent of a 40 hour long scavenger hunt where everything you are hunting for has a built-in gps unit and you just have to go pick it up. Every now and then, AC4 will do something that is very interesting, like let you capture enemy ships to build your own fleet or hire a crew. These aspects of gameplay are dumbed down to the point of being insulting, though, and actually made the game worse for having them.
