Socom works just fine.
That's debatable. Socom FTB requires almost no skill whatsoever, which drives me absolutely insane and causes me to become bored of the multiplayer after a short time. Even Gamespot admits that "many might be turned off by the lack of skill involved in actually aiming and firing" (or something along those lines). There hasn't been a single shooter on the PSP that managed to solve the problem of having only one analog nub.

Halo 2 is an outstanding console FPS....
Agreed. If anything, Half-Life 2 was overrated. It was nowhere near as viscerally fun and pleasing as Far Cry, and it didn't even have a bloody multiplayer mode (which is one of the pristinely important features of an FPS).
