$15 a month is worth it, to play one of the finest MMO's going around

MMO's are not worth the money imo.
If you have too much time on your hands then maybe yes. But if you have a life outside of gaming, stay away from them.

I have a life outside gaming.. In fact. The only video game i play now is final fantasy 14
So $15 a month for a couple hours a week is perfect, seeing as it has all my gaming needs

Ok, if it's the only game you're playing I understand. MMO's are just so time consuming and if you also play other games, it's just not worth it imo.
Loved both of the betas for PS4. This is the first MMO I've ever really enjoyed, and I actually have had more fun with this than I have with most games I've played recently. My fiancé is getting it for my birthday and I can't wait to start playing it fully!
The factor that left me unsure hesitant about it all though was the sub fee. But I figured if things look busy the next month I'll just not pay the fee until I find free time again.
Just gotta beat Persona 4 Golden before it comes in! I just got through Heaven last night so I wonder how much more there is.
Yeah I'm jumping into this tomorrow with no expectations or experience. I've been reading some articles and job , race, class descriptions etc.and it sounds really interesting. Im trading in Infamous Second Son to gamestop ( already plat and I have no intention of playing again ) for $40 and buying this with the 2 month subscription card $29 ( you get a $14 gift card with it as well )
My PSN is b-smith if you want to add.
I have some questions too.
1) How do the guilds function and is it easy to play with other people?
2) What classes do you all like to play as?
3) Is the world enjoyable enough to invest time in and are the updates worth the $15 a month?
Lastly, I'm still hesitate due to my backlog I've got going on, but seeing as Infamous SS is collecting dust on my shelf, I feel like it is worth at least trading in and having it in the backlog to try out later.

I only played both of the betas till about level 10, so I don't know a whole lot. But here are my answers to those questions:
1) Didn't really get into the guilds during the beta. Got a couple invites but not entirely sure how it works or how it is compared to other MMOs.
2) I really didn't like playing as a Thaumaturge. The other classes I played as were Archer and Conjurer, both of which I enjoyed. I really like healing people so I'll probably have a Lalafell healer as my main, with another couple characters I see fit when I try others out.
3) Honestly, the world is one of the reasons I enjoyed the beta so much. The whole game feels like something special, right when you boot it up and you hear the rendition of the Final Fantasy theme at the start menu, I was immediately drawn to it which is a rarity. But the world itself is vibrant, exciting to explore, varied and gorgeous. One of the opening worlds is a forested area that is just beautiful, while another was more of a desert city that really reminded me of Rabanastre from Final Fantasy XII, one of my favorite games of all time, so I was quickly invested in exploring.
There are hunts that pop up around the areas quite often that are called Fate(s), you just run across them and work together with others to complete the objective of the Fate. It's nice running across the world to fulfill a quest then seeing a Fate is only a little ways off.
I still have a large portion of my backlog that I need to get through as well. But when I tried the beta for this game I was hooked, so I'd recommend it.
inb4 GILGAMESH!!!! (tried to make a healer on this server and it wouldn't let me join, I was so upset. Gonna try again when I get the game)
Can't wait to dive back in FF14 ARR, have to wait for my new PC to arrive though :3

@hayato_:
1. Guilds are known as free companies, and all you need is an invitation and you're in a private chat room. Dungeons are done in a four man squad (2dps, 1 healer, and 1 tank) and eight-man squads later. You can party up beforehand to save time searching for one. Outside of dungeons, your friends can help you in mostly everything at any time. There is no competition for exp, if you participate in a battle with someone, you both get exp and gil.
2. I enjoy the Dragoon (Lancer) class. It is my favorite class even outside this Final Fantasy. Dealing damage and using combos is really easy for this class compared to other dps imo. But the drawback is DRGs suck at taking care of multiple enemies at once.
3. I think so. People don't get far enough into the game to enjoy it. Once you hit Ifrit (a primary boss battle) then you should judge if it was worth it or not. I got to the max lvl of 50, that's when the updates really benefit you. I'm pretty sure the newest update which includes the new boss Leviathan, requires you to be at max level in order to fight it.
You're probably thinking, "lv 50? You're crazy!!" I'm telling you now, take this game by smaller goals and you'll reach there earlier than you know. My goal was to get a Chocobo, then my next goal was to face Titan with my friends, and then my next goal was to complete the story and get to lv 50. then even after the story mode and max level, I still had goals to complete, like getting to the Crystal Tower (FFIII), raiding the rest of the dungeons, and obtaining ultimate gear.
This game is very goal oriented and having goals will make things easier for you to enjoy it.
I have PS3 version!!!!! which means PS4 version free!!!! which means i wont play that either!!!! because i aint paying $15 monthly!!!!
@bbkkristian: Actually the game doesn't even pick up tell lvl 32 when you fight Titan, after that you have will have a good chunk of what ARR has to offer.
@Wasdie:
The game is still new but by judging how FFXI was im sure this will have tons of new quests and story missions in the future. also leveling up in FF14 is way faster than it was in FF11 i still remember how long it took me to hit level 75 (which was the max lvl when i quit) in 4 years I only had two max level jobs (classes) while in FF14 i was able to hit level 50 in less than 3 weeks.

I'll add ya.
Caught the Beta on the last day, was very fun! I may give it a go to help me get through until the fall releases along with Child of Light and Bound by Flame, both release in the next month.
It's alright. Better than the original launch of Final Fantasy 14 that's for sure. I have some issues with the questing and how thin the content is. I found myself having to grind quite a bit to level.
Weird....I never had to grind and I ended up with a lot of quests left over once I maxed out.
@hayato_: In regards to your second question: My character has both Bard and Dragoon at level 50.. Normally play the Bard, but like to play the Dragoon for certain things. Working on getting White Mage to level 50 now and then as well.
I've been playing the PC version though and will stick with it.
It's nice to see all the new people in the starting areas.
Fat chocobos everywhere lol. thank god im a legacy player so it was free for us. also gotta love that 9.99 a month. at at least SE awards the players that stuck with the game since 1.0. the ps4 version is not bad but my razer naga 2014 doesn't work on it. there's no way in hell anyone is fighting any primal with the vita cross play feature. that's just for casual crafting or playing while on the toilet. anyone who is playing on ps3 and has a ps4 do yourself the favor and just do the free transfer to ps4. I cant believe people have the nerve to actually say that the ps3 version is good and they wanna play on both consoles..... sigh scrub players just don't understand

i played the PS3 version, and i didn't even know how bad it was until i played the PS4 version.. WOW
@Sweenix: SE did all they could with the ps3 version. I give them credit for keeping their promise to release the game on ps3 but damn this game proves that the ps3 really wasn't that strong of a console. Only 24 players max on screen, its 20 fps while the mobs move at 15 fps and it lags like hell due to the ps3 ram. I barely did crystal tower on ps3... never again

I actually found the PS3 version to be playable, but that's only because i hadn't tried a better version. Once i got onto the PS4 beta, i couldn't go back.
