Final Fantasy VII Remake Coming FIRST To PlayStation 4

Siliconera has learnt that Square Enix are developing a Final Fantasy VII remake for PlayStation 4.

The Final Fantasy VII remake will use a more modern art style for Cloud, similar to his appearance in Dissidia Final Fantasy or Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. It is being created to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII.

(And no, this isn’t the Final Fantasy VII port for PlayStation 4 that was previously announced by Square.)

They'd have to do some serious overhauling to get me interested again. I've tried numerous times to finish this game over the years since it released an always get bored about half way through.

Siliconera is probably the most reliable Japanese oriented gaming news out there. I doubt they would throw out their reputation down the drain like that for a couple days worth of hits. However, this does feel like a bad joke but why else would SE host a conference without some huge FF news when FFXV is confirmed absent. I am not sure about this but I want to believe for a 2025 release.

It is still gonna be overrated to hell.

yes, FF7 Remake (lol, no it ain't happening), is ps4 exclusive, despite 13, 15 and Type-0 all being on xbone and pc.

a game that would sell millions of units, is going to be restricted to ps4 alone.

Square doesn't need anyone's money to remake this thing. FF7's steam port last year sold neraly 1 million units.

ill wait for something more official...and i dont think this is going to be just on the ps4 unless square wants to lose millions of dollars... maybe timed exclusive to make up for tomb raider? but i still highly doubt exclusivity or that this game is even happening.

Would probably take another 5 years before it comes out, not hyped. I mean sure, let's draws some FFVII remake concept art and announce the title because hell technically they've already started making the game.

If it really is being developed you can bet that they are porting the FFXIII battle system into it as a reimagining rather than a remake. Because that will make the game loads better.

I'm sure there will be a PC port. Even Capcom had enough sense to make sure that a PC port of SF5 would happen. SE isn't crazy enough to go pure exclusive when it would be a simple matter for a PC port.

SE wouldn't do a FF7 remake for the reason of..... We can still milk number 7 without putting effort in.

With a solid marketing push, Square Enix knows a re-made would practically print money on PS4 and PC with mods allowed. I don't have the slightest idea why they have not given this a go.

Sony should just step in & help fund the project to make this thing finally viable.

The game is in need of a fix. It has major issues.

The fanbase is so dedicated, though. Remaking an enormous game like this, properly, would dictate a huge budget. Just look at the prerendered worlds. All that stuff would have to be remade, elaborated upon, yet still retain the feel of the original.

They were probably sitting on the fence wanting to make big coin on it when they finally do make it happen but then it dawned on them that the PS4 is probably the closest thing to a PS2 success we will see with a console ever again. So, now they're running with it.

Every year we get this rumor I'll believe it when I see it.
