Feburary NPD Prediction thread (ps4 wins!!!!)

It's up year on year, and 82,000 is actually a relatively healthy amount for a system to sell in January (assuming it didn't just launch).

Most importantly, however, these numbers show there is actually demand for the Wii U if Nintendo itself were to support it- now they just have to keep releasing games for it. Pity the next release is three fucking months away.

I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft paid the NPD group to fudge the numbers to their favor. Same practice they did when they paid Amazon to remove legitimate user scores that criticized titanfall.

If we counted individual SKUs, Bravely Default was #2 and Donkey Kong was #4.

Bravely Default's total sales were 200,000, and it was the bottom game on the All Formats Chart, which means that there was some good software performance this month all around.

Why? It's common tactic by large corporations. In fact, the benefits are mutual to both Microsoft and Amazon.

Amazon fell for the titanfall hype, so they ordered large amounts of titanfall copies from Amazon thinking they would sell exceptionally well. Thankfully, consumers were smarter than what Microsoft thought, so titanfall was selling poorly. The bad user reviews only made the situation worse.

Moderating and censoring legitimate criticisms would be a plus to both parties.

those numbers are surprising for the x1, it wouldn't surprise me if M$ flooded the market because of the titanfall bundle. The x1 hasnt been dominating any charts and is always in stock when every I see them in the stores, however the ps4 is always out.

What are you talking about? A lot of cows though it would be close because SONY was moving most of their stock to Japan. NA and EU had extremely low PS4 stock throughout the month.

Enjoy your victory(?) while it lasts. In the end, good always triumphs over evil, and SONY will destroy Microsoft.

Even if they were down YoY (which they probably were, there was no way they would be able to do 2013-like numbers again), they could still have given numbers, as they have definitely outsold their competitor in the arena by a probably comically high amount.

Sony still sold everything it could ship, but I must admit the Xbox One did much, much better than my predictions.

March should be interesting: The Playstation 4 ships more and the Xbox One will get its Titanfall boost.

Good sales numbers are always positive no matter the brand. It keeps the industry alive. I predict next month the X1 will win due to TitanFall and maybe April but after that the PS4 will take over again. TitanFall wont be the X1 saving grace like MS wants it to. And the fact the PS4 keeps winning in XBox territory isnt good for MS. In the rest of the world the PS4 will keep kickin its ass. Can the Xbone survive only with US sales?

258k people in the US bought an X1, 286k a ps4, in Feb. Its that simple. There is no conspiracy going on here. You Sony fans have gone out of your minds. Lets not forget this is the US...MS home territory. If anything you should be celebrating that you go a win two months in a row here.
