I really, really hope it does come this year.

There is no need for by months and months (sometimes years) of previews with drip fed images and story snippets.

Bethesda almost always reveals games when they are very close to release- remember Skyrim's surprise reveal, with a concrete release date that the game actually hit?

I have no doubts that Fallout 4 will release this year.

Ha, that was fast.

I imagine they want to keep the release date announcement for their E3 conference.

@charizard1605: yeah, going by past it does bode well.

If it is coming this year, it will be the VG highlight of the year for me. I love me some batman and halo, but there is something so absorbing and satisfying about the fallout wasteland, i just love it. only Mass effect 4 would have a chance of getting me as excited.

Yeah, I'm no fan of Fallout, but this one has my attention so far for some reason. Hopefully it's enough to convert a non believer like me.

You play Witcher 3?

Nothing, they have all been trash

I'm the wrong person to ask- I'm not the biggest fan of the series. That said, I like what I have seen of Fallout 4 so far, enough to get me interested.

Sorry I should have explain it more, I was referring to the current-gen consoles that a lot of Game Developers been really having a hard time with these consoles and have a bad habits to delay games. If Bethesda can make it, I'll be impress.

The Fallout games are exceptionally deep role playing games. One that really emphasizes player choice and consequence. Also by fleshing out and crafting a variety of characters who have clear strengths and weaknesses, no two playthroughs are ever the same. The universe itself is exquisitely detailed and packed with well written characters.

Oddly enough, all of what I mentioned was remarkably absent from Fallout 3, which is the sole Fallout game developed by Bethesda =P

I haven't played many games lately, i've been learning electric guitar with Rocksmith, I haven't been looking at games news / forums very much at all lately as i have found most games this year to be pretty crappy and i just lost interest to be honest.

but the witcher 3 has made me very happy. i enjoyed 2, but this one is a lot better. I honestly can't fault it at the moment.

I was in novigrad doing a quest in a casino which involved playing gwent. I lost a load of money to some bloke who had a card which cancels my leaders ability, after the third loss, i stood up and gave him a blast of Igni just to see what happened. next thing, it goes to a cutscene and i am surrounded by guards trying to kick my ass.

I reloaded a save and have taken up the side quest where you can score some unique gwent cards.

I also like how there are a lot of high level quests ready to go after you finish the main story.

that said, i hope to have finished the main story before Batman comes out. I intend to play that game to the max until either fallout, Halo or No mans sky arrives (wichever arrives first)

Nice to hear about the guitaring, man, hope it goes well for you.

And yeah, I hear you- like, I always felt like there was this really good game somewhere in The Witcher 2, but it felt lost underneath all the jank, and it felt like the game overshot with its own ambition a lot of times. The Witcher 3 feels like the game CDPR always wanted to make.

Gwent is amazing. I've probably spent more time on it than in the actual game lol. Thank goodness it's not like an F2P real CCG like Hearthstone, or I'd most certainly go broke.

No Man's Sky looks legit. I hope it hits this year, and that it's not disappointing.

@finalstar2007:

Dystopian post-apocalyptic reality mixed with the looks, sounds, and culture of America in the 1950's. This is a big part of it all, the feel of the game. The game doesn't just pick up the good things of that era though. The faults of that society are very much present in there.

Your story leads you (as with most games) from A to B. How you get there though, is completely up to you (this true more for F1, F2 and New Vegas than F3). You can team up with different factions to get different endings (over the same grand objective of course). Within those factions you have also multiple versions of how to achieve said ending. Outside the factions you can define your character to incredible extremes. You can be a sneaky survivalist, preferring to survey the area and loot whatever you can instead of fighting. You can be melee maniac killing everyone and everything wherever you go (you can literally kill quest givers and quest related people). You can a diplomatic angel which uses it's silver tongue to solve most issues. These are just a few examples. Your character can be whatever you want it to be in the pure RPG fashion.

You have useful and interesting party members for the most part, though you have to find them yourself (aka they very rarely get insta-added to your party and many times you can finish the game without having met a big chunk of them).

The best place to start for someone who doesn't play many RPGS of this style is likely F3. Very streamlined and you can't really be much more than good or evil. If you're used to this sort of gameplay or liked F3, jump into New Vegas. A proper 3D Fallout. Siding with each faction (of the many present in the game) has direct gameplay consequences and puts you on a different path towards the ending.

--

Other than that, just play them to see if you like it. All this doesn't really matter if you find yourself bored with the gameplay :)

@Desmonic: I wouldn't recommend Fallout 3, dude. It was probably great for its time and everything, but much like Oblivion, it aged terribly.

@charizard1605: I know. But considering final's taste in games, it's likely the most streamlined Fallout game to stat with. F1 and F2 are great but take a while to get used to (they did for me at least). New Vegas can become quite confusing really fast if you have zero experience with the series. Plus, I'm fairly sure it can be run even on a modern laptop so he should be good :P

Btw, avoid consoles for F3 and New Vegas @finalstar2007 . Bugs + Slideshow ahoy! PC is really the way to go (neither should require much power to play I think).

@Desmonic: Especially avoid PS3, since the PS3 versions of Bethesda games were shit.

And see, in this case, rather than advising that he play an old and dated game that might turn him off of the series forever, I would just say wait for Fallout 4 :p I mean, it's almost certainly going to be at least as good as Fallout 3 ('good'), and since it's a modern Bethesda game, it will probably feature loads of streamlining too, ala Skyrim.

Never saw this coming. It feels now like the current gen is in full swing. I've yet to finish Inquisition, took a break from it to try out the Witcher 3, and now Fallout 4.....boom!

It better be Xmas 2015. I don't want them rushing anything and it turning out to be an overly buggy mess.

I have played Fallout 3 and New vegas.

For me, the reason i love them is that the world, although a wasteland, feels like somewhere you want to spend time. you feel like a survivor and an explorer.

In fallout 3 i made my home in Megaton and its the only game ever, where it has made me feel like i could go and live in that world. I never take games too seriously, but with fallout 3, I properly role played it, to the point where at the end of my nights play session, i'd make sure that my character was at his house, in bed.

the music, setting, weirdo characters, rewarding exploration and everything, it just all comes together in a unique way.

I personally can't wait for more.

I kid you not you guys have seriously got me highly interested and excited for F4.

i am surely adding this game to my buy list.

just sounds like everything i enjoy in an RPG ( for some reason i dont know it reminds me of Borderlands)
