I was thinking of getting the Fallout 3 GOTY edition... anyone know which is the better version all around? I can get the PS3 version cheaper, but I heard there are some bugs. Anything major?

360 version is graphically better (by a lot) and has less bugs (by a little). The expansion packs that come with the game of the year edition also have less bugs on 360.

Also, I'd like to add to that that in the in PS3 version, you can get "stuck" in places and it's a ***** to get out and most of the time you CAN'T get out, forcing you to reload your last save.

Im going to throw this in here, If your Pc can handle it on medium settings(better then the 360) then get the Pc version, just because of the mods that allow custom misions/quests, followers, weapons, homes, texture and item changes. And the 360 and PS3 look pretty close the same , but the 360 has less bugs.

Depends, if you can get it much cheaper then go for it. The bugs and framerate problems were patched up and fixed. The graphics are just slightly inferior but not by much. The cheaper then the better because it is essentially the same thing. If you dont believe me about the graphics difference being small, then just go look for a comparison. If you want best graphics then get PC version.

I pretty much have the game on PC with a bunch of mods and because it is graphically the best. Mostly because of mods though.

doubt it really matters. the 360 version was originally less buggy, but i'm guessing that's been fixed for the PS3 version by now.

360 version, its superior in graphics and preformance.

the addon packs have been available longer on the 360 as well offering better bug fixes, the game is patched higher its had more bug fixes as a whole, as well i believe its cheaper too though im unsure.

I owned it on the 360 and got the PS3 version after my 360 got the RROD. Since I've owned and completed both versions, I can give you an objective answer. Websites exaggerated how much worse the PS3 version looks, so I wouldn't so much worry about that. However, the PS3 version does freeze up a LOT more often. Because of that, I would recommend the 360 version.

After my save file hit 15 mb, it's broken on PS3. This is after I beat all 5 expansions, level 28.

No idea how it is on 360, but I hear it's generally better.

360

The PS3 version is pretty buggy. I was going to get it on PS3 so I can get another platinum trophy but I played it, and watch my friend play it at his house and wow, it's pretty bad. Apparently Bethesda isn't even going to bother patching it..

Console gaming FTW! (sarcasm for the slow ones)

Is the freezing so bad that you can actually not get passed a certain spot, making the game unplayable? I've heard so many different things.

I have it for PS3 and I've had to freeze on me about 5 times. Also I've played it for 30+ hours. I'm not sure if that's better or worse when compared to the 360 version.

What?

Borderlands has better guns, and better gunplay by far.

That's three things right there.

360 Version. The main campaign on the PS3 version was patched but the DLC however is really buggy and there is no word on Bethesda patching it. The 360 version looks abit better also.

I've played both versions extensively (not the GOTY editions), and the 360 version is superior visually, and there are less technical problems. However, both versions suffer from constant framerate troubles, input lag (this is actually more prevalent on the 360 version), and the game tends to freeze completely sometimes.

The DLC is no better. I bought all 5 DLCs on 360, and the same problems are there too. The past couple of days, I've tried playing the game on 360 (I have it installed) and even then it's been completely unplayable. Constant freezing for 1-4 seconds at a time, terrible input lag (press B to bring up the pip boy, it comes up 2-3 seconds later), and ultimately, the game just freezes up completely.

It's even worse on PS3 though, so if you're going to get the game, buy it for the 360, and install it.

he is deciding between the PS3 or the Xbox360 versions.

he may not have a very powerful rig or prefers the convenience of consoles.

why do some people here mention PC when TC clearly is making his decision between the console versions?

I think there's a good chance he knows that it's on PC.

That's why I have no problem dissing PC at any step of the way, bro. They love to open their yap when they weren't asked it, too, just like the console fanboys. ;)

My computer has so many viruses I can barely run Youtube - as if I'm gonna buy a gaming rig.

Get the ps3 version, your disc will last longer and will not help you over-heat your system so you avoid RROD.

Well if you have both systems, I'd recommend 360 version. Ps3 version, true its cheaper but its more solid on 360. Bugs being somewhat, though not as bad of an issue anymore, on ps3. So Id say go for it. Have fun too. Or...If you got a rig, well, Im sure you know where Im going with that. Anyway, Id go 360v.

Personally i`d say you can`t go wrong with either version, I love the game and played the heck out of it on PS3, so if you have both consoles however, it`s clear go with 360, i`m actually getting the GOTY edition on 360 now that I have one!!!! :D Also the GOTY edition of Fallout 3 on PS3 has a 7 GB install, it installs as you play so it`s cool , but it takes up to much space.

If you really have to choose between those two consoles, go for the Xbox 360 version of Fallout 3. The PS3 version was released earlier, and has less content(e.g. weapons, bosses etc.) than the Xbox 360 or the PC vanilla version. If you have a capable PC and don't hate mouse and keyboard with a passion, I strongly suggest you getting the PC version of the game. The PC version is the only version that allows you free rampage over all the countless good play-made mods available out there.
