This is pre pre pre alpha Prototype/concept art footage and not even fully playable map at this stage but this already shows the right direction for the game's visuals and level design . This already looks close to CGI . Really can't wait to see how this will end up .

Epic also discusses , how they are going to approach different stuff in the game . So be sure to check out the following video and share your thoughts .

Footage : 1:30-10:40 approx .

That looks stupendous, I love how clean everything is.

Lacks originality, but technically impressive.

No.

Looks good, I like that simple white and orange look, they should continue in that direction. You can see how he's improvising with a lot of pipe meshes and generic sci fi/industrial objects to make the environment, like he said they have to make individual designs for the doorways and some columns to really flesh it out, as this is only a prototype.

It will probably look absolutely amazing once they approach release.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but what makes you feel that way, and what in your opinion would have originality in this sort of thing?

Is that Halo 2A? :o :P

Of course I jest, looks very nice.

Wow, once I thought you were a smart poster, oh boy, how wrong you just proved me.

Just for your information, Unreal Tournament 4 is a PC exclusive Arena Shooter. There's nothing bro shooter or console centric about this game, at all.

As someone with certain high tastes, I always preferred Quake 3's primarily Gothic architecture to unreal tournaments sci-fi settings.

I know it's a pc game. I played the hell out of the original back in the early 2000s. Like every other game Epic now makes, it has become a bro shooter console game worthy of purchase only by bro shooter console kids. I wouldn't sully my pc with this console clone garbage. It's boring bro shooter through and through, made for the console crowd. There's no denying it.

It is not even on consoles and it is created by both old UT devs and fans together . How exactly is it game for console crowd .? We haven't even seen gameplay of it yet .

Wow, that's impressive. Now I want to see some character models. I hope it's almost CGI level like that.

There's just no character to the design. It is the most basic of basic in terms of color and shape. That footage they showed looks like it could fit in any real world game out there. I can see the sci fi inspiration, but there's nothing that distinguishes it.

When you look at Halo, you know it is Halos world. When you look at Mario you know it is Marios World. People often say "well, Halo looks cartoony and Marios visuals are too childish." Fact of the matter is that in reality these two games are some of the more complex games, artistically.

The lighting looks great and the graphical detail is nice aswell, but what i really want is gameplay. It could look like a 2010 game, but aslong as it's fun and plays like a fast paced twitch shooter, like UT2K4 (for me atleast), i'll be more than happy. Please be good.

Looks better than UC4 & UC4's cutscene graphics will be a step above gameplay anyway, graphics king i would say

You're judging the game's art direction by a conceptual prototype made out of recycled pype and industrial meshes.

Once it's done, you'll see some really, really original ideas. Epic has some of the most talented artists out there, that's why Gears of War was so good visually.

You'll be seeing gameplay videos later this year because I think they said that they'll release something playable at the end this year (or early next year) , some sort of alpha etc .

It's from Epic. That should be your first and only necessary clue. It will be for the console-wannabes, the ones who bought Gears of War for the PC, the ones who also buy bro shooters like Battlefield 4 and play it with a 360 controller, the console crowd. You will see...

Yea develop a high end pc game with mod support for the console crowd makes sense right?

I disagree, unless by 'character' you simply mean unrealistic.

What is amazing about Epic's artstyle, and why I personally feel it IS fairly original, is that their environments can tell many stories just by looking at them. Each surface or pipe looks like it has a real function, rooms look like they have been lived in, even if they are clean, every nook, cranny and gap looks deliberate and with purpose, unlike a lot of games where they will stick a vent here because it looks cool, or a pipe there because there hasn't been any for a few paces.

Combined with that, there is the staggeringly good technical power of the Unreal 4 engine and I feel you have a winner.

I'm stating what I think of what was shown just like everybody else. Unreal was never really impressive. It was always more about a solid engine. It even seemed to be hinted at in the video that the levels were going to be simplistic in visual terms, as to not get in the way of the actual level design, etc.

That color scheme reminds me of half-life.

I disagree with you guys claiming it's the greatest looking thing ever however, really hard to judge that just looking at a few walls and a floor. It looks rather bland.

This game makes me happy.

It's been so long since a proper arena shooter has come to PC. I have been so lost trying to find a good multiplayer FPS in recent years.

Let's just hope this one doesn't turn out worse than UT3. Seeing that it's a PC exclusive gives me great hope it won't be.

Star Citizen, Unreal, Dreadnaught, several multiplats on pc-ultra....

it didn't take long for PC to wipe console gfx to the floor...it usually takes a tad longer at the start of a new gen. Nice job PC!

Yeah , because consoles were already outdated this time around .
