maybe if your stupid enough to buy the co...er arcade.
i hope no serious gamer would ever buy that PoS over a pro
In order for the 360 to compete with the Wii, the basic model needs to come down to $200. What they really need is to bundle the Elite with a Blu- Ray add on (like the HDDVD add on) to show that they will support Blu- Ray. Potential buyers might turn to the PS3 because it has a built in Blu- Ray player. to keep these buyers, they must show that the 360 has a Blu- Ray player and is cheaper than the PS3.
At or around the GTA IV launch, MS needs a massive advert blitz about the exclusive DLC, and a price cut of at least $50 on the 360. That would drive some solid mid-year sales, and put pressure on Sony to lower their MSRP.
And then, in Holiday 08 around Gears 2, anothe $50 price cut or pack-in deal could drive some steller Holiday returns, and also put pressure on the Wii, as then the Pro would be priced the same as the Wii.
NO it doesn't. Microsoft is too greedy.Cedmln
Just like Sony, they lose hundreds of dollars with every machine they sell. :|

I would if the deals were right at the time. If someone isn't into online gaming (many aren't and even then most games have online without the hard drive), doesn't care about demos, and isn't particularly thrilled with DLC, why do they need a hard dre?
How much money can they afford to lose on it though? I mean they've already cut the price down to rediculously cheap levels with the Arcade, and it hasn't really helped.Ninja-Hippo
theyre making $75 to $120 and each console sold

Microsoft? :| Since when did this happen? I thought they lost money on the console.
Yes it definitely does! The Premium XBOX 360 is only $50 cheaper than the 40 GB PS3 and when you compare bang for your buck, the PS3 is simply a much better value! Especially when you consider that MS is without a HD movie format! Also, the argument that the 360 has better games than the PS3 is also no longer valid. When you get down to it and compare exclusive games on each console, Id say that the PS3 is now equal to the 360 in most genres!
Imo, MS needs to drop the price of the 360 Premium to $299 and the Elite needs to go to $399! Also, MS had better wise up and do a couple more things or they will get buried.....
1. FIX THE HARDWARE!!!
2. MAKE XBOX LIVE FREE or atleast cut the year fee in half to $24.99. I say this because we own (2) 360's and a PS3 in our house and still to this day this past holiday seasons issues XBL gives us fits with disconnection issue while PSN is ABSOLUTELY lag free and has no disconnect problems!!!

No they're not, they're losing money. Nintendo is the only one that makes money on the consoles

Microsoft is rich. If they get people to buy the 360 instead of the PS3 its worth it. They need to bundle a 360 with a Blu- Ray add on to show that they will provide Blu- Ray support after HDDVD went down the drain. With Microsoft pulling away from HDDVD it's the ultimate kick in the rear for people who went to buy the HDDVD add on for the 360.
