Does balance matter in consoles games outside fighting?

Console games are barely played at a competitive/serious level compared to PC, so they are usually not balanced.

So they are usually unbalanced in favour of the player (for single player games). And then everynow and then you'l get something like Dark Souls ,unbalanced against the Player.
