Do you think 2017 will top 2016 in gaming?

2016 ended up being a pretty strong year for gaming. Do you think it will be even better next year? I'm pretty hyped just thinking about it. Please let me know your thoughts SW.

Too early to tell, a lot of games will get delayed similarly to what happened in 2016.

Well with the Switch and it's line up (Zelda, new Mario, surprise 3rd party collab? Retro's new IP?) I think it's looking like a good year. Plus Scalebound, Days Gone, RDR2, Scorpio (new hardware is always fun)...I'm surely missing something? Yeah, 2016 was a good year and 2017 looks to continue the trend.

Tough to say. This year had 7 games that I really liked, so in terms of numbers probably not. It does however have a G.O.A.T potential in Sonic Mania, so anything else is gravy.

Easily! If there are no delays, I think just Q1 2017 will top all of 2016.

Outside of Uncharted 4 and the arrival of virtual reality, I thought 2016 was a pretty weak year for gaming.

2017 already has the launch of Nintendo Switch, the launch of Scorpio, the launch of the new upgrade kit to make the Vive wireless, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Sea of Thieves, Resident Evil 7, Friday the 13th, For Honor, Sonic Mania, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Days Gone, Cuphead, and Red Dead Redemption 2 that I'm super excited about!

I mean opinions and all that but stuff like Dues Ex, Doom, Dishonored 2, DSIII, UC4 (haven't played much of this, though) and SFV made this a great year. And others like Mafia III, FFXV, FH 3, Civ 6...yeah, 2016 had a slew of good to great games with variety to boot.

Every year brings us more games than we had the year before and one year closer to Captain Toad 2.

I can't wait for all the delays and the "2017 will be the best year for gaming since 1998"

The point is, the people who claim there are no games this gen and this year, fucking what? I don't know where you were last gen, however last gen was filled with games like gears of war clones, with only the occasional (binary domain) being good. Games like the arkham series are the special cases, take a look at the best exclusives of each and you'll find a bunch of rubbish generic crap, stuff like the puppeteer,playstation allstars battle royale, folklore, nier, etc etc were the exception, not the rule. This in my opinion is the best console of all time, games like watch dogs 2 don't interest me in the slightest but there are games like world of final fantasy, let it die, bloodborne, ratchet and clank, alienation, rocket league, disgaea 5, the witcher 3, etc etc to quench my thirst for gaming. This is the best generation and this year was packed to the rim, albeit nintendo's best year was back with bayonetta 2 and stuff for this gen and xbox's exclusive games this year are a bit poor, they get a little better next year.

Next year is killer, this year was killer,last year was killer, even 2014 was killer with games like the evil within. My list of next year is massively incomplete since it hasn't happened while this year I had to benefit of being able to go through the list of release dates.

You're kidding right? 2017 is shaping up to be absolutely amazing.... easily the best year in gaming for the past several years (at least to me). This year has been pretty dry for me.

Next year is FINALLY looking solid. By the way, I didn't add a lot of games like MLB the Show 17 (even though it looks to be the best yet.. especially with a throwback mode). There are also several MMO's slated to come to consoles as well as big updates and DLC for those that already exist.

I don't know about anyone else.. but I am pumped for the 2017 lineup. They can't start getting here fast enough. :)

The problem is that people don't delve enough and aren't paying enough attention to the large amount of quality that is there that would bankrupt them.

It will depend on how Mass Effect turns out for me. I'm tempted to say no, 2017 will not be as great because for me personally this year gave me Forza Horizon 3 which is like one of the best games I've ever played.

If nothing gets delayed, ya. But we all know at least 30% of those titles will be moved to 2018.

I'm in for RE 7 and Kingdom Come: Deliverence. But every year there's usually only a few games I really even play. There's a lot I'd like to attempt but not enough time. I still need to get Dishonored 2 but just don't feel like playing much of anything lately.

2016 was boring with the exception of a couple of titles. This was certainly the off year for all platforms. 2017 will top it easily.

Uncharted 4 and Ratchet & Clank were great. Overwatch is fun. FE Fates is good but I have not finished it yet. And then of course theres Gears 4, Forza Horizon 3, Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2.

Next year brings Sea of Thieves, Scalebound, Zelda, Horizon Zero Dawn and Ghost Recon right off the bat....so maybe it'll top it.

That's what I'm saying though, 2017 is so full of awesome games it's unreal, hard to even go through the lists of games and just pick 30+... there are 50+ that I am likely going to buy already, and that isn't including the things still under wrap. Looking like it's finally going to be a good year overall... been awhile in my book.

Let's get a new SOCOM and ES and make it the best one in the last 2 gens.. lol. Better not push my luck :P
