The game is only a few months away from being released, and I don't remember when was the last time I've seen anyone mentioned the game in the boards. Either because people got blown away by MGS4 so massively that they don't need another stealth game anymore or the latest Splinter Cell just doesn't look anything like what they loved in the previous ones.

Looks like Ubi Soft took some lessons from Capcom's RE4 by completely revamped one of their biggest game series.

"The game is only a few months away from being released" Untrue, unfortunately. We don't know when exactly it's out. But I mention it all the time as part of the 360's 2009 lineup.

Because the last thing we have heard about it was that it is having development issues.

wasn't it first announced in 06? and then they said in early 08 that they were gonna start from scratch again since they didn't like where it was going? meaning it most likely wont be done until 2010.

Splinter Cell what? Wait a second. *Vague flashbacks* Oh yeah, that game.

No, can't really say I care anymore.

If they get back to what made the series good. Chaos Theory was a high point and it went downhill from there.

That's essentially saying the third game was the high point of the series, but after that it went downhill. That makes no sense seeing as there has only been one Splinter Cell after Chaos Theory. That isn't much of a hill to fall down.

i'm not looking forward to it, but if it comes out to some praise i may check it out, i've only played the first splinter cell, so i have no real reason to look forward to it.

Chaos Theory is the last Splinter Cell game I have enjoyed. Maybe if they go back to that formula instead of the one introduced in Double Agent. The whole reason I enjoyed Splinter Cell was because I truly felt stealthy. Lately, it's taken more of a MGS approach with more focus on action.

I have a slight interest, which most likely a result of what I'm currently reading (Splinter Cell: Fallout).

The game has been in development for ever! lol I bet it was gonna be released last year but when the devs saw the awesome response and sales MGS4 recieved and how great the game is they scrapped the work done on Convictions to start a new so it doesn't get over-shadowed by MGS4 :D

I don't. This and Alan Wake are both incognito. First they were suppose to be released in 07, then 08, now their release date is somewhere in 09. Wait this sounds familiar to something lemmings have been toting about the ps3 lineup... wonder what it is?

ubi cant be trusted to do anything right anymore tbh so the likelihood is it'll be some needlessly revamped broken, repetitive game which is buggy as hell on the pc and is barely recognisable from the high point in the series that was chaos theory. im hoping the delay means theyve scrapped the conviction idea, pretending da never happened and gone back to what made the early games great.

We don't know when it will be released, they started from the beginning again. It might not even be the hobo Sam type gameplay.

And yes, I'm looking forward to it.

They shoulda stick to the old formula. IMO, it's pretty hard to imagine Sam without his googles and other bells and whistles.

This game, I believe will not see a release date this year. The last rumor was that they were scraping the current game engine. You have not seen any new screenshots, no new news, and talk about it has died. Ubisoft usualy leaves it release dates solid for shareholders. Conviction will be moved to next holiday then it will be moved again to the begining of 2010.

I just hope they don't make is an obvious MGS4 wannabe and fill the game with nostalgia and all that other stuff. It seems a lot of people think they are doing that. I hope not, I liked Splinter Cell for what it was. I don't want an MGS4 ripoff because it'll most likely suck. Also make it more like past SC games that AREN'T Double Agent. Double Agent was horrible, as of now I really don't know enough information to care about this game. Splinter Cell has been going downhill.

UbiSoft is being dumb. They should've just released the hobo Sam Fisher and see how the reception goes. But instead they went back into the drawing board and produced nothing even after years of delays. Just think of how $$$ they would've made had they stuck with the annual releases.

its make or break for them with this game, mess it up and theyve pretty much killed off a successful franchise that could have made them plenty of money in the years to come. im glad they have gone back to the drawing board.

they made the mistake of "humanising" sam in the last game, killing his daughter and having him drunk and depressed and drop out of service etc. it seriously went against the ice cold unflapable super spy character they had built up in the first three games. turning him into a hobo would have been the final nail in the coffin for the splinter cell games as we knew them.
