Poll Do gamers really stick to just one console? (82 votes)

Yea 40%
No 60%

10 years ago I would believe that, but in today's world where everyone owns a bunch of gadgets (phone, tablet, computer, games, etc), I find that harder to believe. Which brings me to my real question. Why can't Wii U still sell despite many people not viewing it as a primary console? Even at its current price, its still a relatively cheap investment compared to the money you have to put into ps4/x1.

I do. PC and PS4 only for me. Last gen it was PC and PS3. I have never owned two consoles in the same generation.

Well I stuck to just PC this whole gen. Now have a PS3 to catch up on some of the exclusive games, since it hit a price point I found acceptable

Not really.

For example, this generation, I'll have both handhelds, Wii U, and PS4, along with a PC that can hopefully run most of what I want it to run.

I think the casual market only cares about buying one console. They don't see a purpose of having more than one. To them, it would be no different than buying 2 DVD players or 3 surround sound systems.

That being said, I own a gaming PC, PS4, PS3, PSP, Wii, Android Tablet (Asus TF700T), and an iPod Touch (4th gen). I primarily play games on my PC.

If someone is content with owning only one system then why not?

No, just kids who can't afford more than one, and casuals who don't have time or desire to deal with more than one system.

I only own one console per gen and it has to have a really good reason to purchase. The PS3 won me over with Gran Turismo, MGS4 and FF at the time (although FF turned out to be crap), and a bonus that it did not have terrible hardware problems.

Why would you want two consoles, unless you were totally into FPS games on Xbox (not my cup of tea), an early adopter or had to have the PS3 exclusives with those two options. Seems like a waste of money better spent on a PC.

Last gen it was pretty much PS3 only. I had a Wii and an 360 for awhile but sold them.

I have my PC, but I don't really game on it very much.

Don´t need more than one when the PC is your primary gaming platform.

I'm pretty restricted for time, so I only have 1 console, 1 hand held. Also, it allows me to delve deep into one console's library for gems, rather than playing each console's AAA titles.

A lot of people didn't in the 7th gen, what with the length. But I might from now on. Just can't be bothered to sink time into all consoles and handhelds anymore. It almost starts to feel like work.

I can afford to have them all but simply don't have the time and can't be bothered.

As long as I can play my multiplats like GTA and Sony exclusives i am happy.

Idk how people can own X1/PS4/PC and a 3DS and play all of themo_O

The WiiU can't sell because a lot of people don't buy a second console straight away. Plus with the way games are now you get so much crossover between two consoles that you'll more or less just be using one of them for exclusives (unless you have a good split of friends across both).

There's is no one definition of gamer. Do you some game on one console? Yes. Some game on multiple consoles. Some like multi player....some like single. Don't try to cram individuals into one stereotype.

Your lose.

I usually get one console XBox or Wii and then a year later get the next console. During that wait time for the next console, I'll buy games for it for cheap every couple of months. By the time I get the 2nd system I'll have about 10-15 games to play on it. This year, I did it differently. I bought both the PS4 & XB1 (and passed on the Wii U). Yeah it was pricey, but I'm loving the games I have so far and can still fall back on the XBox 360 and PS3. Still have lots of games for those to play.

No, that's called TRUE GAMER. They're a rare breed who gets to enjoy whatever exclusives they feel like playing. No bias and just gaming bliss. Having the time to play everything is the only downside.

I use to be PC only, and I finally realized all the great games I was missing on all of the consoles. So instead of jsut PC gaming I got all of the consoles from last gen and this gen (PS4, one, U) and got to play actually great exclusives. I may play on PC every now and again, but mostly no.

I pretty much get them all. I currently have Wii, Ps2, Ps3, Ps4, 360 and Xbone hooked up in my entertainment center. I'll get a WiiU in the next year or so when the price drops to $150-199 range. I was never a handheld person but found some deals this black Friday on Vita and 3DS XL so grabbed those. I also built a gaming pc earlier this year but there's not a lot I play on it. I'm getting older and have always been a console guy going back to Atari.

My thing is that I rarely pay full retail for games unless it's really something I want bad. I stumbled on to cheapassgamer several years ago and that has made my library explode because I typically wait for games to hit $25 or less. So I just play out of my huge backlog until newer games drop in price.

It's definitely an expensive hobby to have but it's my thing. And I get all the consoles because they pretty much all have some exclusives that I would like to play.

Sure why not, the amount of time you could spend just playing all the good games for one console is actually a lot if you're open to trying new things.

Can't imagine seeing an interesting game and not being able to play it, so all systems for me. I wish I had the time to actually play all games I want though.
